I would think with a "Sent Folder" this wouldn't be the must difficult thing to make automatic.

Yeah, it's not set that way by default I think. Seems a tad odd.
You can either check the box below each sent message, and do it on a case-by-case basis.
Or you can go into your account settings, specifically for sending messages, and then choose to save all sent messages in the sent box. Just check the little box.
