ketamine infusions for depression, pain, anxiety?
« on: August 15, 2018, 09:07:05 PM »
Has anyone had ketamine infusions done?
If so, how much was the cost?
How did it work for you?
Will any insurance carriers cover ketamine treatment yet?

Also, has anybody ever had a script for the ketamine nasal spray for pain or anything else? I've been researching ketamine infusions for awhile now and one thing that I've noticed that has changed is that they now offer the nasal spray for use at home between the infusions that are done in the office. I'm thinking the ketamine nasal spray could work wonders for my migraines. I remember waking up from my last surgery and was literally in zero pain and it wasn't because of the fent....it was because of the ketamine.

It seems like they'd be doing as much research as possible into nitrous oxide and ketamine for pain since they're trying to get away from opioids. I don't think they want us to have anything that might make us feel good though. If they were truly worried about opioid OD deaths, they'd be giving out alot more ketamine and nitrous.

Ketamine and Nitrous (two drugs that i know well) don't really have much benefit for pain control outside a hospital/veterinary setting.

i was on a Ketamine infusion (for intractable pain - long story) and the way they make sure that you don't enjoy it (or trip out) is by adding Diazepam (the handy "anti-trip" agent of choice) to the mix.

it worked very well !

I tried to mix Ketamine and Methadone for a buzz and it yielded nothing of benefit for either drug ... just in case anybody gets some "potentiating" silly thoughts.

for me, after much experimenting, found that Ketamine (pure) is best served IV/IM @ 1.7 mg/kg body weight = fabulous trip LAYING DOWN ... OR a few "bumps" in a groovy nightclub of your choosing.

I'm 180 lbs so what would that be, about 120-150 mg's IV?

I'm on MMT so I'd think methadone, ketamine and IV diazepam would make for a smooth ride while getting the infusion. I'm not really looking for the trippy part anyway but I would like to enjoy any euphoria that it has to offer.

Did the infusion help the intractable pain at all? You said it doesn't have much benefit then you said it worked very well.

Did it work to improve your mood for the next few days/weeks?

Did you get a script for the nasal spray? Or did you just get the powder or a vial thru the black market? I used to be able to get 100mg's per ml in a 10ml vial from Mexico/San Diego before they cracked down on all the Chula Vista/Tijuana websites that were operating openly in the mid 2000's.

about 140 mg for you.

i knew a gay Ket. dealer (now dead) and his Ket was pure; it had been a liquid that when evaporated, left a white powder. $120 AUD a point, IIRC.

ok, so i experimented with all sort of doses and noted the effect ~ i found the "sweet spot". anything under it didn't drop you in the k-hole deeply and once exceeding it, put you into a deeply anaesthetised state where you have no memory of the experienced and it's like falling asleep then waking up (duh, it is a anaesthetic).

haha, i really took my research seriously !

it's non-physicaly addictive and after so much of it, i came to remember the indescribable experience.

i remember trying some when in slight Opi withdrawals and it certainly fixed any physical discomfort.

does it help with pain ? yes, completely, from memory. it's a weird experience as my pain was both severe disc nerve spasms *and* i was in 'done w/d ... i kept thinking "wtf ? this is cool".

i might add that this was after a lot of lengthy begging and yelling (like for 48 fucking hours) ~ i knew nothing about Ket at the time !

the docs. had me on Oxycodone, Dexamphetamine, Valium, Flunitrazepam (had to beg for that), Baclofen and 2 oral and IV antibiotics ... and after being told that i was lucky to be still alive, i was feeling quite confused. i had one of those bars in my (specially unpadded bed) where you pull up on them like you are doing "chin ups".

what i mean't is that yes, it works with pain but euphoria is blunted with the 'done.

also, unless infused, the anaesthesia lasts only 20 minutes so is not practical.

Ket will destroy your bladder too (but in very high doses).

it's another "must have" experience in altered states ~ disassociation allows your mind to "fill in the sensory void" as it searches for the lost feed ... that's my best take on it.

fucking wild ride if you take my dosing guidelines seriously.

$120 AUD for .1 gram (100mgs) of K? I used to get bottles that had 1000mg's and I'd dry them out in the oven til it was powder and sell them by the quarter of a gram. The bottles were only $100 so I sold .25 for $50 and just doubled my $$$ as I was a teenager and had no idea how much it was supposed to go for or usually went for.

Also, I've always thought that the right dose of Ketamine or PCP would work wonders during opi WD. It seems like K would be great for PWDs if you took sub too early before in complete WD. Or it would help the pain while waiting to be sick enough to take sub.

The Ketamine infusion clinics are advertising it for chronic pain and opiate withdrawal.

@Chip me and you might as well just email or PM each other as we're the ONLY folks that post on here anymore or at least regularly.

Folks PLEASE start posting more as me and chip need other opinions besides each other's LOL.

LOL  :)

i'm used to low traffic and these days, there are plenty of other bigger, popular sites.

there are so many more communications options.

there is also facebook.

Opiophile was a very well thought out content-professional site where people had a voice and could finally share stuff that was largely kept hidden ... but that was from 2005 and the world has changed rapidly and exponentially since then.

so what does this place offer ? a cozy home if you want it; just be respectful and courteous to one another, is all we ask.

i know that i generate a lot of crap that can be found anyway but it's all i got these days.

@bignasty, there are some really funny folks here and every time that i get a laugh or see people helping each other, I for one, certainly feel happy.

i'm sorry to be appear to be a bit of a megalomaniac at times but with such a quiet site, an array of staff isn't warranted and i will fight to keep you and your data safe. after all, we are all in this together.

my "post or fuck off" classic "dummy spit" email was just uncool and embarrassing.

to reiterate, we appreciate every body that contributes.

we don't shake you down or spend the treasury on dope ... not without repaying it, of course  ::)

I’ll start posting more... where can you go to get ketamine infusions?  A clinic?  I wonder if I can get it with my sub script.  I’m gonna research.

Wow that was super quick... I did a quick google and found a place about 40 minutes from me.  I made an appointment for the Friday when I get back from vacation. I will report back with prices and how it works...

Wonder if they dose you the first visit or what?

I'm pretty sure they do if you have the money and are considered a good candidate for the treatment. And since this stuff really isn't FDA approved, I have a feeling that you ARE a good candidate as long as you have the $$$. I mean ketamine is FDA approved but they're using it off-label for depression, anxiety and chronic pain.

Please let us know how it goes as soon as you go to the appointment. They didn't tell you any prices over the phone?

No they were VERY vague over the phone to be honest.  Like when you make an appointment the first time with a pain management or sub doctor vague.

I’ve had three back surgeries and was in pain management for several years and then self reported myself as running out early and got on suboxone legally.  I’m still prescribed suboxone and I was up front with them about it.  I was told the first appointment was $150 cash but that would change based on treatment.

I don’t know what that means exactly beyond just bringing $150 with me.  Money isn’t an issue but I also have no interest in paying $150 for “evaluation” if I’m not gonna get dosed on site or leave with a prescription in some capacity.

Post Merge: August 22, 2018, 04:30:43 AM
I actually just called them back because I had a message to call back.  Fuck me I must have misunderstood- it’s $450 PER VISIT for depression and $800 PER VISIT for chronic pain but they are also a pain management clinic so I don’t know what that means exactly.  However you can pay over time for the visits on “care credit” and need at least $150 cash to be dosed.  It sounds like this place was new as I talked to someone completely different this time and he said he just started yesterday (Monday) and the person I spoke to on Saturday is no longer with the company.  Very odd, not sure what to make of it.

$800 PER VISIT?  I’m not sure it makes sense at that...

Also, the guy on the phone sounded fairly adamant that you DO NOT get a take home prescription and they only IV dose you in the office and check on you/administer more ketamine if you need it every 30 minutes oevrna course of 3-4 hours.  So he said you can expect to be at the office for 3 hours at the minimum for your first visit and once the dose is known 2 hours or so.  So you get treatment in office and it’s supposed to last 3-4 weeks or longer.... does that even make sense?  So it’s not something you take every day.

I have no idea... I have never done ketamine or known anyone that does it or sells it.  I just saw this thread and did a little research.... I was gonna do it for pain relief and mood enhancement.... ie- depression.  I thought what the hell it might be worth it to see.... but $800?

i haven't spent that much on it in my life.

i came across it by accident.

it used to be popular in the club/dance scene so if you have friends that are in that scene then might be worth a try.

it's a profoundly interesting experience and would be keen to try it for Meth withdrawal induced depression. from what i can gather, it is indicated.

i've talked to my psych about it & he's all for me trying it out but no way can i afford it.  there's a few places in denver that do it.  i've been toying with the idea of growing some shrooms & micro-dosing.  i should pull the trigger, easy enough to get everything online.

I've NEVER ran across it except when I was selling it in powder form after buying 10 ml vials of 100mgs/ml online thru Mexican/San Diego/Tijuana online pharmacies and evaping the liquid in the oven. Trust me, I regret selling all that K or regret not buying more. I think the bottles were $100 at the end but they were cheaper than that for a long time. If I could still get those bottles, I'd open up my own ketamine clinic if they're charging that much.
