Do You Incense?
« on: January 28, 2016, 07:33:17 AM »
I use incense in my home. My favorite is a brand called Nag Champa. It's from India. Has a scent like a combination of patchouli, sandalwood, rose, and vanilla, sort of. Hard to describe, but it's definitely the best one I've ever used. I just got an order of 100g of it and I love it. So much better than the cheapo brand that they sell at the gas station across the street. Scents like "Money," "CK-1," "Pussy," and other dumb stuff. (and the "pussy" one does not smell like the real thing - I had to check it out)

So, do y'all use incense?

It really helps me to feel grounded in my own space. Like when I smell that, I'm home. Very comforting, really. It's 5:30am and I just lit a stick. Gonna leave it burning (I put the wooden incense burner on a large porcelain plate) after I leave, so I can come home to - home, after work.

What's up?

Yeah, I was expecting a reference to spice, and burning kratom or something.

I used to love incense, but we don't burn as much as we used to.  THere isn't really a reason why, so maybe I will go burn some Obama myself.

I also thought you were talking cryptically about some new "not for human consumption" type of shit that people were smoking now.

Especially since you called nag champa a "brand", then described it's smell. I'm pretty sure everyone knows what nag champa smells like.  That's like the default incense scent.

Actually now I'm still wondering if you were talking about actual incense that one burns to make a room smell good, or something totally different. Having to keep trying to read with one eye closed so shit remains in focus, and having to keep shaking my head to get my eye balls to loosen back up def. isn't helping either.

Maybe I'm just too high.

But yeah I smoke, I mean burn, incense too.

Naw, man. Just talkin about actual, real, run of the mill, incense, not no "Spice," "K2," or any other potpourri products. Nag Champa is my favorite - many manufacturers make knock off "Nag Champa" scented blends, but there's really only one genuine article - the one made by Shrinivas Sugandhalaya, "Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa," which comes in the distinctive blue, white and orange box:

Yeah, knowing your past fondness for spice / herbal incense, I also clicked on this thread thinking you'd started smoking it again. LOL. Then I thought you were talking about herbal incense, but using regular incense as some type of coded language. Now I'm thinking you're just talking about regular incense.

I went through a phase in college where I used regular incense. I went through a phase several years ago where I smoked the herbal kind too. But as for regular incense:

After I got rid of my shitty roommate at the end of winter term during my freshman year in college, I started using incense and candles in my room. I got fined for a great, three-wick, beeswax, pillar candle that smelled like honey because any open flame in the dorms was against the rules. Yet during my freshman and sophomore years it was perfectly fine to smoke in your dorm room. That always seemed stupid to me.

I stayed in the incense phase until the end of my sophomore year. Back then my favorite scents were vanilla, strawberry, an orange citrus blend, and sandalwood. I didn't like patchouli, and I've no idea what that Nag Champa stuff is. Is it a scent, a brand, or both?

In my senior year at college I used concentrated room spray and a scented wax warmer with the wax tartlets. My favorite scents were Cinnamon and Macadamia Nut. The Cinnamon smelled like cinnamon of course, and the Macadamia Nut smelled like a rich, nutty, sweet, buttery scent. Everyone on my hall loved it and said my room smelled like Christmas.

Now the only thing scented I use are Old Yankee concentrated sprays, Old Yankee car vent sticks, and cologne. For the room spray and vent sticks I, again, like the holiday scents. Cinnamon, spiced pumpkin, spiced apple, and (my favorite) apple cinnamon. Smells so fucking good.

For cologne I currently have Obsession for men, Euphoria for men, and Euphoria Intense for men. I also really like, and have had, Romance for men by Ralph Lauren, and Pleasures for men by Este Lauder. I like lighter, summery scents for spring / summer, and lighter, spicy scents for fall / winter. I don't like heavy, oppressive shit like Polo.

For scented candles, I like the Old Yankee scents that I previously listed. I also really like their buttercream, magnolia, and gardenia scents. The gardenia scent is really good in the spring / summer. I don't have any scented candles currently though.

Useful tip: you can buy Old Yankee candles, room spray, car vent sticks, and their other products at Bed Bath and Beyond for cheaper than in the Old Yankee store, Hallmark, and other stores. Especially because Bed Bath and Beyond sends out a ton of coupons. Things like save ten dollars on a fifty dollar purchase, or save ten percent, etc. The only thing is that some of their products aren't carried year round. Common scents like cinnamon, spiced pumpkin, spiced apple, vanilla, etc. are year round though.

Interesting thread topic, Zoops. Kudos.

I tend to burn scented candles alot. Kinda sets the mood with the flicker of the flame. Haven't burn incense since highschool. Every time I smell one it reminds me of a smoke shop. Lol

Hero wears Burberry for men
And I love love that smell
So when they came out with an incense
I HAD to buy it
I didn't really think it would be the same
Or even close
But was surprised that it is quite nice

I wear CK1 and the incense is also nice
There are also CK1 scented candles
I LOVE those

I've known about the fragrance candles, but I've never knew they made fragrance incense too. That's awesome.

And I thoroughly agree: Burberry's eau de toilette for men smells great!

I'm a big fan of Burberry's menswear, especially their prorsum line.
