Legal Nootropics—Are Nootropic Supplements Illegal To Use?

The legal status of nootropics is a matter subject to a lot of confusion and contradiction online. There is a lot of conflicting information about there about whether nootropics are legal which might make you apprehensive about buying these highly effective cognitive enhancement supplements. Part of the reason for the confusion has to do with the fact that there are so many supplements that can be classified as nootropics and each one of these may have its own policy.

Two compounds that are almost identical in their effects and chemical make-ups may in fact be legislated differently. Further inconsistencies are seen in international laws where some countries may have banned certain substances while others have approved them to be sold without a prescription. In general, most of the nootropics you will encounter on a daily basis are legal to use around the world. The stricter laws are only in place regarding the sale, marketing and importation of these supplements and are targeted more at suppliers and retailers.

editor: you will need check each compound against your local state and country laws to determine it's current legal status. do your research as you would RC's and understand the site's Terms and Conditions

Yes, drugs like Adrafinil are a prodrug to modinifil which is a dea CIV. But for the time being Adrafinil is lefal, some Nootropics are prescription only in foreign countries. If any of the ones I posted get scheduled please just edit the picture showing the source. But please keep the info available.

MadScientistX in Australia, from http://www.longecity.org/forum writes on the 10th of May 2014:

Stimulants/Wakefulness Promoter
- Modafinil (Schedule 4)
- Armodafinil (not scheduled - may be covered by analogue laws?)
- Adrafinil (not scheduled - may be covered by analogue laws as precursor drug). Not recommended anyway as heavy on your liver.

Racetams
- Piracetam (schedule 4)
- Aniracetam (not scheduled)
- Noopept (not scheduled)
- Oxiracetam (not scheduled)
- Pramiracetam (not scheduled)

Best to keep an eye on the below lists:
http://www.health.go...p-precursor.htm (do not try to import these - prohibited)

http://www.tga.gov.a....htm#electronic
(This is the list of all scheduled drugs, always check against this list before ordering anything)

Also personally recommend trying to order from a vendor who supplies a Certificate of Authenticity. Ideally 3rd party certified but this can be hard.

the forum wants to be an international resource therefore due to the global mixed legality means the sources, IMHO, can stay for now.

let the buyer beware or until we hear complaints.

Here in the US all the nootropics i listed are legal, and analogue laws only apply two CI & CII drugs. Once these nootropics in the US get a good profit margin then big pharma will be its rights and schedule it. But for now it's going good. Some of these drugs are MILD dopamine & norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, like amphetamines and cathinones. Thus causing energy. I just bought a sample pack with all the nootropics I posted for about $30.00 US . They work.

if they are mild NDRI's then i can't see too much trouble coming from their use UNLESS taking larger than recommended doses and then unpredictable, possibly negative effects are felt but i have no idea really ...

i tried a Modafinil once and i did not notice any effect whatsoever, which means they must be quite gentle on the body, yeah ?

i was hoping that they could offset the negative effects of stimulant withdrawal and lower anger (if present) or depression ... more research/study is needed on that score.

the big question is 'are they addictive ?'

IN the USA, the DEA posts a complete ( well maybe) list of all substances considered drugs, liccit or illicit, therei  type, class and "schedule". If you have a substance and you want to know if it is controlled or not and to what degree here is that webs site:

sk8phaze nailed it. But I see this as a sector of pharmacology that's been ignored for the longest time and therefor has a lot of potential for big pharma. Once they get in the game everything will change (scheduling wise) and I can see that in the coming decade. Just think of all the money being put into alzheimer's and dementia treatments.

I too am interested in some of the properties some of the Nootropics have.

The HR gene in me just wants to ask/say that the long-term effects of using these chemicals on the various systems of the body--including reproductive system--haven't been established (or have they?).

I would hate to find a "grey area" chemical that is simply awesome, only to learn decades later that it can cause serious problems.

Now that that's out of the way, I may look into the various chemicals available.  I know that Hollywood took a lot of license with the chemical in LIMITLESS, but I think that was based roughly on Modafinil--right?

Something even 1/100 as strong as depicted would be interesting to try.

Thanks for your work Sk8phaze, any word on long-term problems with prolonged use?

One thing I found interesting when reading about these years ago, is that there's no known LD for Piracetam, the shit is basically food, really just another nutrient (that they will likely try and regulate in all the wrong ways soon enough).

Fascinating subject. I've been interested for a long time..

Hmm. Very interesting. I was completely unaware of such a product and am about to fly into full research mode. I've already sourced a local online supply (in Blacktown) who claims it to be a legal non-prescription substance however he does say that ebay had previously blocked him from selling for one month. His business seems to be quite legit. What do you think?

I'm so excited everybody's finally reading about this and texting about this and posting about this this is such an untapped resource and it's such a good knowledge such good stuff for your body depending on what you take and how much you take a course. These are medicines that have alot of advantages. Always do your homework. But keep the posts cot. Anything you wanna know hit me up, ive been sampling each nootropic for a week at a time to see the effects whether good or bad. So far so good. Many people in Silicon Valley use Adrafinil/Modinifil instead of 5 hour energy. They reported positive effects.
