Vaping Dangers

http://www.sciencealert.com/more-than-75-of-e-cigarettes-tested-contain-the-chemical-linked-to-popcorn-lung

Its to difficult only my iphone to copy and paste the article here, so will a mod do that 4 me please. 😬 but beware of vaping. Scientists are finding chemicals in them that can Cause lung complications. One of the known chemicals is called Diacetyl ( I know my first thought was " Hey! Throw some morphine in there, shake it up and you'd have Diacetylmorphine!! If only... Lol) but check it out. It just might save you vapers from 'popcorn lung'.

For the record, this has been a known issue in some flavors that come out of China.

I personally only buy organic juice that's made in a clean room with known ingredients.

Most vape juice vendors are cool about telling you what is in their juice. Some even will show you a lab analysis if you ask for it.

Diacetyl is a syntheic buttery flavor used as a cheapass substitute in shitty juice out of China. I don't mind paying an extra $10 a bottle if I know what's in my shit....

Custards are another flavor that you should outright avoid.  The other problem is that some diacetyl replacements are newer versions that are simply not well studied.  In fact, most flavorings are not tested for inhalation dangers at all.  These are designed for eating remember. The main diacetyl replacement is acetyl propionyl.  It has its own problems, but is lower profile.

The other potential problem I always saw was that most of the nicotine used to be sourced from industrial manufacturers producing it as a pesticide.  Quality controls are very different from pesticides to consumer products that you inhale at higher temperatures.  This might not currently be an issue, although two years ago I emailed some major diy nicotine suppliers to Find out where they got their nic.  Last time I asked it was all sourced from agricultural suppliers.

This was a scary thought a while ago now most juice companies advertise diac.. Free  we moved from smoking as a health conscience decision so these get fixed relatively quick.

I personally only vape juice made from mountain oak vapors, they've shown their certs and the AEMSA has certified them.

here's an except from their website:

Do your juices contain Diacetyl?

No. Our E-Liquids do NOT contain this and we avoid using any ingredients that may contain it. In early 2014 it was discovered that many in the flavor industry mark/advertise their products as 'Diacetyl Free', even though these flavor suppliers were giving us their word that these harmful and potentially harmful constituents did not exist in their products, third party independent testing showed otherwise. We now know that the only way to be certain that these compounds (or any potentially harmful compound) is not present in a particular flavor is to test the flavors ourselves.

That is what we do at Mountain Oak Vapors, all of our flavors are tested independently by a third party lab for Acetaldehyde, Acetyl Propionyl, Dicaetyl, Formaldehyde and in the future if we discover there may be other compounds to avoid, we will test for those as well. We are on the leading edge of science and E-Cigarette research as members of AEMSA (AEMSA | American E-Liquid Manufacturing Standards Association) so you can rest assured when you are shopping with us that you are buying the highest quality e-liquid on the market.

My bad on the edit Wildcat, I meant to hit quote, but I hit modify apparently.... I fixed it to your original edit, but that is why it shows I edited your post...

I think that's probably a really good idea regardless. The take home here is that just cos you're vaping and not combusting, it doesn't mean what you're doing is automatically safe. I'd stick with juice vendors who seem informed and answer questions quickly, and are willing to show documentation to show their products are up to standards.

Personally I'd probably try and avoid a lot of the novelty flavors too, but that's me..

Why?

Nickle puts off toxic fumes supposedly at over 500 degrees... I always use kanthal, nichrome,  and stainless steel for temp control.   They really did little research when starting temp control with nickle wire.   There is a reason why we don't use nickle in cookware.

It all needs more data but I feel relatively safe with my kanthal.

vaping in general needs way more research, but Im sure it will increase as the health concerns increase.

Also, I definitely would not vap chinese liquid.  even if they say it doesnt have xyz, I wouldnt fuckin believe it unless tested by a 3rd party.

China has repeatedly shown very little regard for our health laws.

One thing I like and I can't find the link but it was a peer reviewed article came out and said vaping is 95 percent safer than smoking...that I will personally take any day... If only they could tell the public how much safer heroin is than alcohol addiction ...besides the risk of falling out of course
