A Cool Simulation of Layered Neural Messaging in the Cerebral Cortex

[Chip (OP)]

An artistic simulation based on neurological research and professional consultations of an extreme closeup of a gyrus of the cerebral cortex and what the neurons are doing when processing information.

The vertical layering of the cortex is particularly pronounced in the sensory regions like this one, wherein vou can clearly see information traveling up and down throughout the six layers of cortex.

Information is also shared between cortical columns, distinct processing units in the cortex that also pass information horizontally to integrate signals together.
