As a 'recreational' opiate though, it generally sucks - although some people seem to use it in that manner.
It's not that addictive at all when used as directed for pain, although I'm sure you could get some horrible, grubby habit together if you took quite a bit to try and chase a buzz for a while.
IIRC, one of the main things to watch out for with Tramadol is that it can lower the seizure threshold, especially in affected undividuals.
Also IIRC, it has quite a weird binding profile, slightly tickling one of the opiate receptors (mu IIRC) and also inhibiting reuptake of Serotonin and Norepinephrine.
