Can marijuana reduce pain??
« on: June 21, 2017, 07:30:41 PM »
Hi all
It’s been a year since I am having chronic back pain. The reason for this back pain was the accident I had a few years before. I don’t remember everything but a few as I was unconscious for a couple of days post the accident. A few months after the accident, I started to develop a slight back pain. I didn’t take it seriously at first, but the pain increased. I consulted my doctor and he gave me some medicines, but there was no relief for my pain. I also tried physiotherapy. Still, there was no use. Now it has come to a stage where I can’t stand or sit for even 10 min due to the severe pain. I am not able to concentrate on anything. My work, my personal life, nothing! Seeing my condition, one of my colleagues told me about taking marijuana to reduce pain. But now I am in a fear whether if I will develop some other problems due to the intake of marijuana. I don’t know much about this in detail. My colleague asked me to take an appointment at a medical marijuana service in Toronto as soon as possible. But before taking appointment, I would like to hear from you all about this. Please be kind to give me some genuine replies.

I've seen a lot of articles and posts lately on CBD extracts for pain, pretty much all favorable. Personally I find that THC helps me forget about physical discomfort, but IME it doesn't actually kill pain, your mileage will probably vary. I think that MMJ is *highly* subjective, for some it's a miracle drug, for others, a nightmare. Obviously with THC there is a major psychological component to deal with. And again: for some, it's a blessing, but certainly not for everyone.

If you're not used to THC, I would *definitely* recommend smoking a little before eating any. It's very easy to over-do it eating tasty treats, even for seasoned users. Overall I'd say it's definitely worth a try -- with both THC & maybe CBD extracts. 'luck..

Hi fellow Canadian.  The Fed's have changed the rules for med here lately.  I believe that you need to purchase from a licensed producer.  Usually by mail.  Many of the dispensaries are not legal anymore.

I'm just saying this as a heads up.  I dont want you to think you're 100% legal just to find out that isn't the case.

I've heard good things about high cbd and full spectrum extracts for pain.  If traditional medicine isn't working for you I think it's a good avenue to explore.  Good luck with it, and I hope your pain gets better soon.

i've experienced pain relief from 50/50 cbd/thc edibles.
But now I am in a fear whether if I will develop some other problems due to the intake of marijuana.

marijuana is about as safe a psychoactive substance as there is, no real side effects except stuff like the munchies laughing.  can bring out some anxiety but the pain relieving strains will be indica derived 7 that's the category of weed that mellows one out for the most part, also it can make you sleepy 9especially edibles which are recommended for pain0 that's all the side effects i can think of.  i've never heard of any medical issues from weed and it's impossible to overdose on.  well, you can take more you wish you did but you can't die if you eat ten pounds of the stuff.

For me personally marijuana definitely reduces certain kinds of pain--migraines and menstrual cramps. It also helps with opiate withdrawal.

I suggest getting good quality stuff if you can, although I have gotten relief from smoking mids before.
Lately I've had dispensary type goodies--good green, edibles and vaped 93% THC extract.

My husband is currently growing a single plant with a dispensary seed and this thing is a monster--90 days from germination to buds. I have never seen a plant grow so fast in my life.
The name of the strain is called Amnesia-something. It's supposed to be a dwarf type one, as in not growing as tall as a tree.

I do suggest that if you go the edible route please start slow cuz it takes a while to kick in and it's usually stronger and lasts longer than smoking it.

Definitely, it works for pain.  There's also evidence that it can be directly beneficial to the underlying conditions that cause pain, particularly in extract form.

My spouse suffers from chronic neck and back pain and gets very good results from hemp oils.  Fortunately, we live in a "green" state, so we can grow legally here.  I've put some plants in this year, with the intent of making some hemp oils to help her out.  It's actually very easy to do, and doesn't require a lot of equipment - basically, you need heat and a solvent, that's it.

Hemp oil is pretty expensive so if you can grow MJ, that may be an avenue to consider?
