I simply keep my expansive 750GB collection that I purchased from a DJ who stole it from his station's collection on my 3TB personal cloud. I then use whatever default music application is on the given device that I'm networking with (ex. Smart TV, Android Box, RasbPie, BluRay, In-Wall Touch Monitor, etc.. I'm a tech junkie).
My buddy who is a phenomenal musician on all accounts was in love with Microsoft's Zune Media Center for PC. He showed it to me back in 2011 or around then and I fell in love. It had an awesome GUI with 3D type album transitions as if sorting through a crate of vinyls but side to side. It automatically generated Album Art and Covers from auto interweb inquiries and stuff of that sort.
The handheld Zune Media player was a bust for Microsoft, but was quite excellent IMO. Smooth, sleek, stylish... They kept the PC program around for a couple years after and it's probably dumped too.. Obviously. (Fuckin' laggish Windows Media Center garbage BS). But I know it can be found in an archive or mirror somewhere. I do so many SSD replacements/upgrades and different OS testing/formatting that I ceased my re-installation of Zune quite a few years ago. It's time to look that bad boy back up. Hopefully the auto-art is still in coding order.
Oh and VLC cuz it's compact, portable, easy, manipulative, add-on ready, and has a cute orange cone for a logo.
Edit: Totally forgot about Winamp!! The good 'ol days.
