Very uplifting to see a different perspective reported on of the parent of an OD-related death.

Too strange to live, too rare to die.

Good report or view to get acquainted with. Rarely seen a parent of overdosed person taken such a sane approach.

And that's true what she is talking about... it is drug policy which causes realm to unwanted situations, and abandons means to do harm reduction. Many ordinary people understands that prohibition on alcohol caused unwanted consequences, but they could not see that it's same thing in drug policy.

She seems a lot smarter then this idiot, who took a picture of his daughter passed out with syringes and pills on her bed and posted it on facebook in hopes that it would get his daughter arrested so she could get clean because he couldn't force her into rehab, and she died a little while after from an OD. I hope that the dad was just trying to help but geeze some people are so thick and stupid it hurts, I chalk it up to another death brought on by the drug war and the stupid ass "addicts must hit rock bottom to quit so lets help em get there" theory.

I mean really how does having your daughter publicly shamed and, going to jail, getting a felony on her record, and having to deal with all the implications of that for the rest of her life sound like a good idea to help her to stop using heroin. In the clickbait story it says she started using because she was assaulted at a concert.

How does paying for a therapist to help with ptsd, and coping with that not sound like a better plan then showing the world your daughter is an addict and getting her arrested? Or at the very least seeing if she is willing to try MMT and if not just giving her support and love until she wants to quit if that ever happens and if it doesn't teaching how to be safe about it so she doesn't OD and die. I will never understand people, there should be rehabs for people who think like that, so they can go and learn how to cope and deal with someone else's addiction so they don't kill them.

So true and such a good idea, but instead they have meetings for parents of opiate addicts that just tell them they're enablers and to cut them off and kick them out.  Laugh/cry.
