A Central Texas woman is behind bars on a drug possession charge after responding to a fake news alert claiming that drug supplies in the region have been contaminated by the deadly Ebola virus.

Chastity Eugina Hopson, 29, was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of less than one gram of a controlled substance, according to Burnet County jail records.
Hopson was responding to a Facebook post from the Granite Shoals Police Department that said supplies of methamphetamine and heroin in the region have possibly been contaminated with Ebola, police announced Thursday.

"If you have recently purchased meth or heroin in Central Texas, please take it to the local police or sheriff department so it can be screened with a special device," the fake news story published Tuesday said. "DO NOT use it until it has been properly checked for possible Ebola contamination!"

Two days later, the department announced that officers had their "first concerned citizen" respond to the post. Officers then "gladly took the item for further testing," police said.

Hopson is currently being held in Burnet County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Less than a gram.  Good thing they got that dangerous criminal off the streets.  I know that I for one will sleep better tonight knowing there is less than a gram less meth on the streets,  and one poor mentally challenged meth head to boot.

This woman should be receiving medical attention as opposed to sitting behind bars being ridiculed and taunted ..

She needs help and I'm guessing her issues go a helluva lot deeper than meth addiction ..
