Title: Been on 'done way too long
Post by: Hopperdave2000 on January 31, 2018, 11:13:21 AM
I've been on methadone for many years (12+). After numerous legal issues, I went to the methadone clinic. I worked down to 40mg daily with take homes. About 5 years after that, I was hospitalized for unrelated reasons and they put me at 10mg daily to avoid massive WDs. No problem. I'm now at 2.5mg daily via a doctors 'scrip, but due to new laws, he is unwilling to refill. That's OK too. Should I just stop? Should I go to 1.25mg? I have NO desire to ever shoot anything ever again ever. That's over. I don't want the WDs, but I'm sure there will be something. I have about 50 days of 2.5mg dailies left, and I can cut 'em half..... any ideas? I've been at 2.5mg for about 3 years. Thanks.

I don't have regular web access (I suck  ;) ) so any replies may get a late response..... thanks again. I'm glad there's people out there that get it.

i suggest asking your doctor for a few scripts of Pregablin (Lyrica) or Gabapentin whilst you drop to 2, 1.5, 1.0 etc. each week.

it's ok to discuss this with your doctor as it's a great tool to help you detox.

we have written quite a few threads about gabapentinoids (calcium channel blockers) and how well they work for opiate withdrawal.

i used Phenibut (probably legal where you are) yes, they are addictive but needn't be of used carefully.

search on the above keywords.

you are almost there and should be able to do so easily

it's the fear of withdrawal that holds us all back.

That's a long time. Very few people successfully taper down as far as you have. Ideally, no drugs at all would be great.Subutex/suboxone gets a bad rap a lot, but for me, it works as an antidepressant. Nothing at all in my system I feel generalized soreness, I guess some would call that fibromyalgia but I think my kappa receptors have been tweaked, if not permanently, then for a really long time. I take 1/2 a mg of subutex under my tongue. I could withdraw, but really don't want to.

I've been without it or any opioids in my system for years, but the addition of a small dose of subutex has changed my life. I can now travel around the world, no worries about withdrawal. My aches and pains of being a 60+ year old man don't bother me.

The only downside is the blockade effect, which can be overcome with enough pain medication if I find myself in an ER. Just my opinion.

May be too late to matter but I would cut them in half.  Good luck!

Hell I’d cut them in half too. Even after that I’d crush the then put them in water and calculate half of that to get to a quarter of what you are on now. Look at it this way. What’s the harm? I think you have done fucking amazing to get down as low as you are. And 12 years is a long time clean man! Congrats on that. If you have withdrew after that do a tiny little lope taper. Once again congrats, I’ve been on done for a bit shy of two years and I’ve dropped from 185 down to 115 and I’m even proud of that! So you sir have done well

Outside the US, lyrica is fairly affordable. Inside the US, try to get 300mg of tablet form gabapentin- cause lyrica is expensive as all get out. It calms down your CNS better than clonidine.

As for your progress, good show OP.

3 yrs @ 2.5mg...?

No offense... And I say this with care.

Just jump. Jump already... Its time.

Clear your weekly calender and just, jump.

You'll be fine. Sooner than later.

Signed.

^^ I'm with snoop. 2.5mgs is low enough to jump from. If you get WDs, they shouldn't be that serious and that's a low enough dose where you could take bupe or lope or tramadol or kratom to taper down even further if you actually feel any WD symptoms.

What new laws make it where your Dr. won't write you for anymore 'done? I recently went to a pain mgmt. dr. that said he can't write 'done for pain anymore after a certain date in 2018 due to a recent law that was passed. Other pain doc's in my area have told other patients the same thing. They'll say I can give you fent patches, MScontin, oxycontin, norcos, roxies, etc.. but I can't write 'done for pain anymore.

'Done is actually a lot of people's DOC around my town so they've gone from easy to find for $7-8 to hard AF to find for $9-10. If I could open up a 'done clinic in my town right now, I could charge $20-25 a day and make a KILLING. It'd save folks in my town ALOT of $$$ and anxiety considering even the 1st day's dose of 30mgs would cost them at least $24-30 on the streets.

There's only one family doctor left writing done for pain. The pain mgmt. dr's won't even write for 'done anymore. I'm not sure if they're lying about some new law or the family doctor that's still writing for 'done don't care or isn't aware of the new law. She only writes for 120 a month (except one of my friends that gets 330 a month 'cause he was on that before he went to her) but that's better than nothing and definitely better than 60-120 hydrocodones.

The pain mgmt. dr. in my town is making pretty much everybody go from anywhere from 20-110mgs of 'done per day to two 15mg MScontins a day (1 in morning, 1 at night) and 60 7.5mg norcos a month for B/T pain. I got down to taking 40mgs of 'done per day but taking 30mgs of morphine and 15mgs of hydrocodone a day didn't even touch my WD symptoms even when I IV'd the morph's so I went to my local street pharmacist and started getting H/fent powder for $150 a gram.

I apologize for my lack of responses....

Yes! I'm off the 'done as of late March 2018. WDs weren't too bad: minor cold sweats and chills and skin crawls, and insomnia, but after 10 days or so everything was OK. Vodka, cigarettes, weed, and diphenhydramine got me thru the real tough times. The doc prescribing the methadone never did tell me what laws had changed or how. Maybe he's full of shit, but my health insurance also stopped paying for it at about the same time, so maybe that was it. Unrelated: I had my gall bladder removed recently and was prescribed 90 roxys 10mg for a month for pain. I didn't fill the scrip 'cuz I was a bit worried about getting back in to the cycle. So, short story, now long, I'm free of opiates (at least for now), I feel good but occasionally I get the jones, but I know better. I like having a home with a TV and a bed and furniture.  ;)

Thanks for the input everyone!!! BTW- I now have somewhat regular interweb access so I'll try to visit more often!
