Title: the misery ... one week on Tramadol
Post by: Chip on September 05, 2017, 04:32:16 PM
having come off methadone 10 months ago, one week on 200 mg of Tramadol has me with goosebumps and the sniffles when dropping to 100 in just 2 days.

that's fucked !

I'll never be able to get pain relief without getting a small habit.

My biggest concern with pain is not being given any pain medication if I needed it.
I am not so concerned with a habit, but having being appropriately medicated because of my drug use history.
I deal with that shit now. The only good I get from the meds I get now are helping me as I drop my methadone dose.

I recently read an article about how the use of drugs like Gabapentin and Lyrica are being prescribed for every type of pain. Doctors who don't want to give opiates are now just prescribing Gabapentin or Lyrica to patients without really understanding the long term effects those drugs have.
I'll take them now because that is all I am trusted with, but as we discussed privately Chipper, only when absolutely needed.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I can't imagine having to deal with withdrawals after a week on Tramadol. How long does it take for our bodies to get back to a normal state?

I'm 4 1/2 years clean aside from a handful of chips.  I get minor withdrawls whenever i use for an evening.

the only answer is "never".

now I have to beg my doctor for some more fucking Tramadol so I can taper off.

Its hard to say. Your foot must really hurt but will your Dr give you another script? If not, maybe try the taper. I know....easier said than done.

I went through this and Kratom was great for w.d.'s and pain, there are some good places online to order, I don't believe most of the stuff in smokeshops is good quality and it's way overpriced. I had used opiates for pain for over 20 years and was cutoff cold turkey and the Kratom really helped alot, still does!

MSM is good for your joints.

Checkout our sponsor for Kratom ... they are good to us and I try to reciprocate.

i have given this a lot of thought and PAIN mitigation takes precedence - i never wanted another opiate habit but at least i know the drill BUT relentless pain and a wound that makes you feel sick to just look at with it's exposed nerves is too much to bear.

I will just plead my case for an eventual smooth Tramadol taper with my regular GP as it's ONLY (bloody, shitty) Tramadol and it's neuropathic pain relief gets me through the day.

I actually have read of at least ONE PERSON who had to get on a Methadone program for Tramadol abuse - crazy but true. Now that's just silly.

It's not like i wanted this, right ? I didn't seek out the medication for fun nor did i ever to abuse it (in fact, the opposite is true) so that must buy me enough cred !

my dose ? 50-100 mg a day, less than the doctor prescribes ! ... i know it's not a big deal but it's enough to ruin your day and run off to the closest toilet, sweating and urgently needing to use it ... any withdrawal just brings the nightmare back, for me anyway.

also, if i didn't fuck ALL my main surface veins then i wouldn't be in this mess in the first place - shooting Methadone into my feet just aggravated my poor circulation and did not help PLUS the silly ICU staff wouldn't have had to go there as their next best option to get a drip into me.

foot injecting has made me a poor candidate for a skin graft soon and that just makes me feel worse SO please take heed, injectors - always leave an easily accessible spot for the medics (and even tattoo in a fat arrow that points to it, just for them (?)  :P ::)) because hospitalization, especially in your later years, is INEVITABLE !
