You generally can't rid of bedbugs in a wood frame structure without tenting the house ala Breaking Bad.

I should know, I had two rental properties that got bedbugs because I don't think the management company vetted the tenants properly.

I would start by just getting bed bug resistant sheets and cover for you mattress, bug bombing your room, his room, and then the whole house. Look up diatomaceous earth it is a natural thing that you can use that kills them and works very well. I would use it everywhere and then get the house sprayed if the landlord is wiling to pay for this stuff. If there is something that you can put all around your room to keep them from coming in like the diatomaceous earth I would. Maybe put your clothes, shoes, and bags in sealed trash bags if they haven't got them yet so you can keep it that way until this whole thing is dealt with. Whatever you can do to keep yourself and clothes protected should be top priority because they can move throughout a house quickly so start shielding yourself quickly and see what the land lord will be willing to do to help you out so you don't get them. Also inform them of all the serious repercussions of bed bugs and how they need to get it completely under control before moving a child into the room. Also they have to continue to bed bug bomb and use all the remedies continuously even after they don't see the problem because they can live through long ass periods and they lay lots of eggs and will just keep coming back until completely eradicated. You can get diatomaceous earth at places like Home Depot, sometimes sold as "Celite." Be careful with it, you don't want to be inhaling that stuff, but it should be cheap.

Frankly if it was me, I'd move. By going into that room and fucking with his stuff, you've likely spread them around the house.

Good suggestions about the clothes dryer, I've heard the best way to deal with them is heat, but they're known to be extremely resilient, I wouldn't expect an easy fight.

As for why it had to be the African dude who brought them in? It's because you and the African dude are both humans - same species same blood; white people are just as likely to spread those fuckers as anyone else, and you might.. Due to countries like the United States consuming a staggering amount of meat,along with the growing population of the world, many more will start to starve if we dont look at insects as a food source. Its not bad if you trick your mind. Im not talking about worms and such. Things like grasshoppers arent really that off putting. If society taught you eating insects was the norm and that eating animals was taboo, the thought of a pigs ass on your plate wouldnt be appealing at first.

Les Stroud claims roasted scorpions are pretty tasty too, just gotta break the stinger off. Probably not far off soft shelled crab (yum!). He likes roasted grubs tho too, might be a little tougher to get me to eat those, but under the right circumstances food is food.
