Title: Life
Post by: whiteheat on November 28, 2015, 12:16:18 PM
So I see the world everyday families pass by and I constantly wonder at 32 years of age am I a cancer on this population or are they on me?

Lost my license a year ago on benzos and walk to work mostly.   I constantly am looked down upon from family and friends due to drug and alcohol abuse.   I deal with social anxiety which is why I come to a place like this.

I feel truly bad for society as they have no idea what us addicts and mentally ill deal with on a constant basis.   Argued with a family member who is so ignorant and just beleives gay/mentally ill population is all just for attention!   I don't know an answer but I am all for respect of different people and understand the hardship.

I am sorry for the rant,  I just hope one day we are understood.   It's a tough life being an addict in this world.

So many secrets that shouldn't be hidden.   I wish I could get the proper medication to treat myself (opiods) legally.   I've done methadone treatment for 1 year and bupe 4 years.

I was a regular person on pills/heroin.  It's crazy to me it is denied from me.   Drug wars are crazy, as this world.

I hope one day we can all get proper medical that we deserve.   Mental pain is dealt with the same mechanism in the brain as physical why not treat it relatively the same.

Never understood judging others... You never know what they go/been through

Thanks for the space to rant I'm sure others feel the same.

I agree 100% with everything you said man!  I believe the time will come where we can get whatever opioid prescribed legally by a doctor, including heroin ampoules.  I don't have a good sense of time frame as I believe it is the last civil rights cause that will be won in this country.  But first it has to become seen as one before any real progress can be made.  Regardless with the acceleration of social and legal change due to the ever increasing amount of social media and communications and the effect it has on people changing and evolving out of old hateful ideas, I think it will come in the next 20-30 years.  Sadly I will be in my final years most likely by then, if not dead already.  But the times they are a changing'.

I feel you 100% on this

It's sad but I think robojunkie is right
about how our battle for equality will be the last to be won in the U.S. (and rest of the west)

Stay strong and know this place will be here whenever you need it

I'm glad I'm not the only one
Who sees this as a civil rights issue
TTA & RJ you have a lot more faith
Than I
I believe the powers that be
Will never come to see this
As a civil rights issue
It really is a sad state of affairs
Knowing that people who have
No idea
What it is like
To be deprived of something
So essential to our
Mental/physical well being

I don't really know
Exactly where I am going with this

Except to say
The government sees this as
A moral issue
But they have no right
To legislate "morals"
To begin with

To me, you are not a cancer on this planet if you do not want to be...keep your head up and be strong.  I've seen lots of trees get planted by members here...stick around :)

Bro
You don't have to thank us
But thank you

Echoing what St. T said
You are not a cancer
None of us are
Except Jonny Mohawk

We just feel like we are lacking something
And the people who have a problem
With the way we fill that void
Just suck
It's really their problem
Not ours

I believe that as long as you can do more good than bad in your life, then youre a positive fixture that needs to be here. There's too many bad people in the world, we need a few more good ones, for sure.

Agreed, Chipper!!!  Hopefully we will be able to change the masses perception of us....but I think we all have to change the perception we have of ourselves, too!

I really believe that we can all take little steps to do this.  Simple things like not referring to ourselves in derogatory terms and not calling ourselves "dirty" when we have  opiates on board.  We ourselves have to change our own view of our use and stop apologizing fornour need for opiates.  As long as we are living a good life and not hurting anyone by our use, why should we feel bad about using?  And if our using gets out of hand, and we need maintenance, then so fucking what!  There are a ton of things worse then needing opiates!!

The next time some douchebag calls us a dirty junky or other name, lets correct them.  Let's stop putting up with the name calling, the judgement and the stigma.  We deserve better simply because we are human beings!!!

Repped

I also believe that
CPPers can help with this
By not looking down upon those
Who use "street" drugs

Being under-medicated
Is a big issue
Perhaps those of us who use
B/c we are under-medicated
Can be helped
To be freed of the stigma
By those who get their drugs
From a legal dealer
Aka a pharmacist

RJ

I see a lot of people hoping that one day, opiates will become legalized or that they will be able to get heroin/other strong opiates from a doctor.
I honestly think the best wet could ever hope for would be decriminalization.
Prescribing strong opioids for injection just would not fly.

Too high of a chance of fatal overdose, even with naloxone distribution, education, and safe injection rooms. Doctors do not like to be in any way responsible for preventable deaths/injuries.

I would love to see heroin maintainance, as some countries permit, take off, but I just don't see that in a country, the US, with such a criminal view of addiction.

I agree with everything SPWK is saying about the obstacles. But, my hope is that with decriminalization (and less stigma/judgement that will eventually follow it), maybe (i know its a big "maybe"), down the road the us will follow other country's practices.

whats the simplest most direct easy way to respond to someone calling/being disparaging of junkies.  what COMBINATION of words in what order can be said to enlighten them fastest/easiest (fastest way to enlightenment on the subject is an injection but i digress)

ALSO everytime i hit the post button im taken to the forum topic page instead of the thread i just posted in, really inconvenient, is it just me>?

that is easily fixed and is a setting in your profile: Profile > Look and Layout > tick Return to topic after posting.

I urge you to become familiar with the other options on that page as you have censorship options, too ... amongst other things.
