Yea.Chip I kind of like having to go to the clinic. Its like i have a reason to do something other than work haha. Also it makes me responsible for my actions.

So I leave this coming Thursday to go on vacation. Guest dosing starts on Friday morning. I called the guest clinic and she looked me up and said they had all the paper work and i am good and my clinic says its good.
I'm gona call again Monday to just double check. People at the clinic have me nervous but who knows if they are lying or didn't do everything necessary like me.

Wish me luck or ill be on a plane back on Friday so posses. I need this vacation and see my folks.

Double checking is a good idea. I've guest dosed in NYC 3 different times At the same clinic, and every time they can't find my paperwork. Once, some crazy nurse accused me of dosing in Seattle, and then flying to NYC just so I could double dose using the time difference. When I explained that EST is three hours later than PST she stormed off all pissed off. Good times at the clinic!

I was working in Marinette WI and living!dosing in Green Bay WI. I was only there for a short time. On my birthday, during my first week of a 3 year job, this dude called me out about being on methadone and got me fired. The shipyard had a zero narcotics policy even if prescribed.

@SWPK..That sucks that someone you knew ratted you out and you lost your job because of it.  I long for the day when methadone is looked upon as no big deal....like antidepressants.  It was probably only 20 or so years ago when people were all "hush Hush" about depression and taking medication for depression.  Now, no one even blinks an eye when someone mentions Prozac or Wellbutrin etc.  I can only hope that one day the stigma will end.

Off topic, but as an aside, I never tell my doctor's (my private doctors, not the clinic doctor) that I am on methadone.  When I was on the clinic the first time, which was about ten yeas ago, I was all about the honesty and disclosing not only my recovery status but my use of methadone.  I saw first hand how the attitudes of doctors and nurses changed once they knew.  All of a sudden I was no longer a smart, respectable human being...I was a dirty, drug seeking junky!  I'm sure not all health care professionals think this way, but unfortunately I have met many more who do than don't!

The thing that sucks about jobs like you mentioned (working on the dock.....also truck drivers and I'm sure others) is that is perfectly within their right to not hire you and/or keep you if you are on methadone.  If they were smart, they would realize that employing people on methadone is infinitely safer than hiring "in the closet" addicts.  I hope that this will slowly start to change.  Hopefully in my lifetime!

Sorry to hijack the thread with this obnoxiously long post!  Carry on!!!

P.S.  I'm glad you took the time to check on your paperwork!  I have heard many a horror story about being far away from home and not being able to dose due to the clinic's remarkable ability to forget to do the shit they are supposed to do!!  I'm glad your clinic is on the ball!  Enjoy your vacation!!
