Some messages from banned members contributed to the discussion greatly. As an example Boro. He had some great posts, and then got banned for some stupidity at the end. If all of his posts dissapeared based on his being banned it would have been a loss for the forum.
Is there a way to do this partway? Banning some offensive messages from members, but leaving the quality content? Could we just add a in place of the inflammatory messages that got someone banned? Banning is so infrequent that checking someone's post history when they are banned and removing the few unwanted messages should be fairly easy. At worst a note could be added to the area in the moderation centre that it hasn't been done, and whoever could do it when there was time.
I just don't want to see us sacrifice quality content in a salt the earth/scorched earth type of move because of a few low quality posts.
Edit: I should have looked more first. This doesn't erase the content of posts as I read from the title. The post still stands as a way to remove offensive posts from banned members as needed. It's just in the wrong place now
