Title: Why Are There So Few Entries Here ?
Post by: smfadmin on February 04, 2015, 11:06:43 AM
because we have only a few members and ask that if you see a future for this forum, one that provides more IT functionality then most, then please register.

I am unable to load test and tune the forum unless i have a genuine load and a larger database.

Many additional functions are available after registering, as we aim to provide a technically superior experience beyond just a typical forum (thanks to SMF and their modifications)

It only takes a minute or two to register.

i'm looking forward to deleting this thread.

it's so nice to have some action here but it's a catch-22; nobody likes a quiet board yet the data has to get populated somehow.

a special thanks to those who registered early ... we have put a lot of effort into getting to this point and would love to see it keep growing.

If you're comfortable saying, how is the board attracting new members?  Is it advertising, or attracting new members via other means?

ask me anything, I'm down with that ... we are relying on word of mouth and a post in Opio and a few on my facebook.

if you want to spread the word then by all means.

I actually don't see it attracting many but it's still worth the expense ... it's given me lots of skills as it's built from scratch.

I'm going to make you an admin to open up your communications status - there is no workload or pressure on you.

Thanks Chipper.  I'll be happy to help with whatever I can.

I'm happy to help too, if I can.

I dunno how youse guys feel about this, but maybe try Reddit??? I dunno how selective you wanna be, but that might be an avenue to get more registered users.

I think the downside might be alot of newbs with those 'dood, can u shoot Vicodin?' type of posts... On the other hand, there are a fuckton of people there that could use some serious Harm Reduction.

Anyhow, just my $0.02...

facebook page now built and invites sent (search: forum.drugs-and-users.org)

i have asked Bluelight if we could cross-reference the two sites.

thanks ... i'll give anything a go ... let's see if they both generate some interest.

I second the Bluelight and Reddit plans.  I have an account to both, but I don't use them.  I've not been on Bluelight in the past 4-5 years.  As for Reddit, I created an account after Raz got banned and was spamming me on Reddit, but I've not posted since.

But yeah, Reddit members (or some of them) could definitely use some Harm Reduction.  And Bluelight is just a good idea in general.  It's been around for a long, long time.  From what little I know, I don't think they'd be opposed to cross-reference sites.

Good ideas.

actually Bluelight took a dim view of my proposal but lessons learned.

them not having known me for long, for one.

I'm ok with that.

Hmmm the best thing i can think of is to cre@te got threads but a lot of phile members dont really have many questions as damn near everything has been discussed pretty in depth. Im not saying that we know everything about opiates but with all the info on the phile we really had the opportunity to be super informed thus the lack of questions we have thus the lack of topics thus the number of searches from google that lead new members our way. I mean a whole shit ton of people found the phile by the good ole google machine. I dont know the answer to that though. Id say we have to be damn near the top of any opiate related  key words that are put into google. Fuck a duck if i know how to do that.....

You may be OK with that,BUT I am NOT!! It's common practice in harm reduction to help and support each other.

I privately asked one member if they had the time and inclination to consider starting a thread on tapering a drug. I agree, lots of folks know a lot because of Opiophile, but I feel like if ya don't use it, ya lose it--especially the nitty gritty details.

What do y'all think about creating our own section for tapering, dealing with side effects etc?  This could cover anything from heroin, Oxy,  benzos, methadone, SSRI/SNRIs and so on?  I think there so much collective wisdom and experience here that it would be great Harm Reduction for "old" and new users.  Just my .02.

nick, is correct.

OUR PRIMARY AIM IS TO HELP EACH OTHER, sometimes the same thing. new people, over and over.

as long as the discussion is smart and classy, we may pull it off yet.

we're almost ALL exclusively experienced, mature drug forum members but think about how you felt when you joined Opiophile  for the first time ... for me, it was fucking liberating and finally, i felt less alone and less a freak.

that's what i aim for, anyway.

if we start seeing a collection of tapering techniques for various drugs then it might be a good idea.

we need more such content though.

Lopermide can be a life saver
There are allot of other things
That could save allot of pain.

NA/AA doesn't work for everyone

The dinner menu was another thread I liked

I'd like to see a buprenorphine detox thread. After 10+ years on it I think it's time to quit it. With th elong half life of the drug I'm curioous about switching to a shorter acting opiate or krater to taper then a taper and I'd like to hear about others' experiences.

I'm here, and registered, because some thoughtful person sent me an email with a link and a msg that this was a sort of resurrection of the old Opiophile forum.  Once registered I found a whole bunch of my old pals from the old forum.

If you have the email addies of the old Phile members, and invite them as you did me, you should see plenty of action.  I missed the 'phile like hell!  Very glad to be here and very grateful to whomever sent me that mail.

Onward!
