Seriously how is that different than a stereotypical "drug pusher?"
I always thought it was
Hella odd that Purdue promoted OXYCONTIN as a NON ADDICTIVE OPIATE
WTF was up with that

Just like on the old cop shows, "Hey kid, try this. The first one is FREE"

Check this out: The family that owns Purdue Pharma (The Sacklers) developed and pushed Oxycontin did so well (even after fines) that they are the newest list of Forbes Richest Families. It's almost all due to Oxy.

I can't believe those dumbass doctors bought that "it's time-release, therefore it's non-addictive!" bullshit.

Time release doesn't make oxycodone, or any opiates, less addictive.  The opiate is still being released, just on a staggered basis.  The opiate being released isn't some magical non-addictive version of the regular, IR opiate.   ::)

And these are supposedly educated people?  They went to school for 8+ years to disregard simple logic.  Doctors are infuriating at times.

I first tried MS Contin in the early 90's, and when I saw Oxy Contin on the pharmacy shelves, I was like, OH YEAH!

Oxycodone's superior pain control and it's appearance on the scene changed the world; Morphine lost a lot of it's appeal and a new generation of addicts were spawned by this new drug and with it's high BA, you didn't have to inject or snort it.

"Heroin is a pill", i guess you'd call it ... even the first Oxy's were 160 mg. ones "for the opiate tolerant".

Yeah, they did away with the blue, oblong 160's in the early 00's.  I think they were available in institutions (i.e., hospitals, nursing homes, etc.) though.  Just not for prescriptions to be taken at home.

what a great story!!  Oh how times have changed!  I did a lot of calling in of T3's myself.  I worked for a dentist who left me in charge of calling in the scripts....mind you this was in the early 90's(1993 to be exact!)  We also had these huge stock bottles of Vicodin in our dark room in a locked cabinet that I had the key for!  I would just help myself to a few when I went in to develop x-rays!!!

At the time though I was still a chipper....enjoying the occasional high and a teeny, tiny tolerance.  It never even entered into my mind that I would catch a habit and wind up in line at the local methadone clinic, but I digress...

I know; I was totally a chipper back then, too!  I could do it on the weekends, occasional evening and never think twice about it.  Now I've been through a raging addiction, treatment with suboxone (yuck), some clean time, and now poppy seeds.  Running all over the place, ordering on line; god.

Hero  - -   I like the fact that you said I seem younger or at least young at heart     :)    I like to think so.

Yes it's true I raised two kids . . . was in my 20's when I had them . .  the younger of the two - - daughter (in her early 30's) -  just had a baby girl six months ago so now I'm a NEW GRANDMA which I still can't believe.     It's so great.   But they live way 'cross the country so....

Anyway my relationship with my kids wasn't impaired (@ least I don't think so) by my drug use probably because without really planning it this way, I didn't use (much)  from the time the older one started grade school until the time the younger was graduating high school.   THEN I got all addicted to opiates and benzos and stuff.   They know but not everything.

When I was first on bupe (2007)  I had to go to "sub group" (therapy facilitated by a counselor at the doctor's office) and I was pretty much the oldest one there.

The ironic/funny thing is that my daughter is a mental health professional & has a certification in substance abuse counseling.   (My son does "unofficial" counseling - he drives a cab & tends bar).

I want to make this clear.
I have seen non users.
Who are shit parents.
Sometimes (addicts) they over compensate. And are way better parents.

And then on the other hand I have seen the exact opposite. Selling food stamps for crack.
We have one in our family.j
I try very hard to look at trees
By the fruit they bare.

If you are buying drugs insted of diapers.

Then you need to think your plan.
So if I have offended anyone
All I can say is sorry
Sometimes things come out of my mouth befor I realize I might be talking about a category of people.

All I have is the parents on this board seem to brr real aware of there kids.
Differance between dependent and junkie.
And yea sub I'm.still not convinced you got kids that old lol
