still sneezing. I'm thinking that it's related to the Phenibut and Dopamine changes that tickle my ever weakened endorphin regulatory system.

I dunno. just a guess.

oh yeah, I heard that a lady broke her neck twice from violent sneezing. *groan*

I think it's an ocular nerve thing -- bright light seems to set them off for me. Like if I get hit really hard, covering up my eyes and blacking out any light usually stops it. I hate that shit tho, I get them so bad I'll be like drooling and spraying snot all over the place, unable to get a freakin' word out until they stop. Shit isn't anywhere near "normal" sneezing.

RE: breaking your own neck, I know OT but I was reminiscing about this the other day: I knew this cat in an SLE I lived at in San Mateo, CA; who busted his own neck while tweaking on speed. He'd shoot the shit and his head would start bobbing and twitching, and he couldn't control it. The better the tweak, the more his head would start bouncing around. He said the other tweakers would always let him get off first, so they could watch him and gauge how good the speed was; until one day his neck just fucking snapped! Believe that shit?!?! I SWEAR it's true. He was mostly paralyzed on one side of his body, fucked for life cos of that shit. Busted his own neck over a speed tic. Unreal eh?

My bad for reposting my details all over, it just seems necessary for certain subject matter.
Anyway, at 10 weeks sober, and never sneezing while hooked, I have at least 6 sets of 3 sneezes a day now. And the yawning is a son of a bitch, which may be from boredom). I'm familiar with the symptoms from previous sprees of sobriety, but I can't quite tell if my sneezes are from my new environment where this place is over grown due to not having a previous winter, or if it's from my sobriety.... I imagine the pollen doesn't help, even though I've never had allergies in 27 years. I think I read somewhere that we develop and lose immunities to such things as pollen allergies every 7 years or something. So like a new set of allergy bull shit to deal with every 7 years.

Congrats on kicking the methadone habit you had @chipper, glad I got some good news stopping by here for the first time in awhile.

The sneezing headline caught my attention as I finally quit subs a little over two weeks ago after tapering down for a long time and besides the whole not sleeping great thing, the sneezing fits are the most annoying part of this so I can relate...

Thanks !  the best thing it did for me was to get a job and hold onto it without having to rush off to the clinic every few days.

I always like to add that it hasn't made me any happier as I have little contact with my former friends so it's a lonely but predictable existence.

Maybe it hasn't made you any happier yet becuz you've yet to meet a special someone be it a friend, companion, girlfriend, fwb...who knows. But you don't have a crutch now and are free to wonder and mingle without fear of withdrawal and what not.

Maybe just maybe if you keep working and "being normal" you will be forcefully introduced to a special someone and you will end up happier...yeh never know my friend.

What kind of field did you find work in if you don't mind me asking?.....let me guess....computer programmer for a kickass local business! :)

I have very close companionship and some mates but I miss the using crowd.

I work as a Linux Level 2 Support guy for a global company supporting their entire network of servers.

I'm not working for the money but for my own sense of pride and in some way it's been good to professionally connect with some straight people.

I guess I have to give it more time.

I appreciate your input ... adjusting to the real world without my props is a bugger.

Keep up the good work. I know it's not reassuring, but for me, the longest period of time i was clean after having a habit was 1.5 years, that was about 6 years ago. And during the time i kept on thinking i would stop being cold and drenched in sweat. But, it never stopped. It went down a bit and plateaued out. It was bad enough that that was the first thing i thought when i relapsed-fuck yeah, im not sweating! I feel almost traumatized about having that going on for over a year.

So, if sneezing is your thing like sweating was for me, then it'll probably not go away soon. Especially after a long time on opiates, supposedly it matters how long you've been on not how much you took as far as how much withdrawal symptoms you get. Just compared to yourself, at other times.

over a year later i am still sneezing.

i know it's from my decades of opiate use because i get goosebumps after a sneeze -- opiate naive people don't get that.

my body temperature regulation is fucked up and i have chronic insomnia thst might br from Gabapentinoids restricted use (mild withdrawals) and/or Olanzapine detox - i taperef off it and it took months.

i am surprised that i am still suffering from opiod cessation though.
