Title: Accidental Injection of Hydrogen Peroxide
Post by: gnossos on June 18, 2017, 08:11:23 PM
Obviously I've already perused the Google results and even a couple Poison Control sites (from what I gather, not too much to worry about other than potential necrosis of the skin at the site of injection), but here's my question for anyone with any idea:

How dangerous is it for SWIM -[for real this time]- to accidentally inject a small amount of hydrogen peroxide? Best estimation is that it was about 3 units in the syringe.

Don't ask. It was a mix up when fixing up a shot of heroin and trying to doctor junkie sores. According to some "Ask a Doctor" website (http://www.healthcaremagic.com/search/what-happens-if-you-accidentally-inject-hydrogen-peroxide), basically as long as it was a small amount, (the OP had injection ".6cc" of hydrogen peroxide), either go to the E.R. or hope symptoms of hydrogen peroxide poisoning or necrosis don't start popping up...

Thanks for any info you can give.

I think that this is one of those questions most of us aren't qualified to answer, and if we were qualified we might shy away from.  If it were me I would go to the hospital in theory, but in practice I've injected bits of isopropyl alcohol that didn't evaporate fully.  I didn't go to the hospital.  Should your friend go to the hospital?  I guess that depends on their situation and risk tolerance.

To be clear when you say 3 units you mean 3/100th or 3% of a 1cc/1ml syringe right?  I've seen all sorts of measurements being thrown out by needle users that don't always make sense.  Why was there hydrogen peroxide in a syringe you were injecting with?  Was it an attempt to clean it out?

Hydrogen peroxide really doesn't have much of a place near rigs. It doesn't really clean and it doesn't disinfect. Use 91% isopropyl or bleach. If you aren't dead yet I'd guess you are okay. Or your friend is okay I guess

SC, IM, or IV?

SC, IM, or IV?

Straight to the artery, actually. Reminds me of yet another quirk of my friends': he tends to shoot almost exclusively in arteries. To be fair, his veins are FUCKED from 15+ years of IV meth use...

To clarify, I don't mean to come off as judgemental in the least. It's just that after you've seen one overdosed corpse of a person you love/care deeply for/are friends with, you NEVER want to see another.

I accidentally injected tea and a bit of raspberry cordial as they both looked like Methadone.

I think by now you would be experiencing some symptoms if that helps. I may be wrong but many of us have made such mistakes. I also injected a little bleach and had a histamine type reaction that freaked me out.

but why into the artery ? thankfully it had no particulate matter in it !

Well the only science I can think to bring into this is that hydrogen peroxide gets its acidifying qualities by making direct contact to oxygen molecules in the air. Now I don't know what the makeup of molecules are in the blood with it being oxygenated, however it would have received some oxygen at least in the process of getting in the syringe and injecting it. Because arteries carry blood away from the heart the complications would depend on which artery the substance was injected into such as if it was in the leg then you would have irritation and muscle death in the legs vs if it was in the neck then you would be looking at damage to the brain. Any how, the damage that you would be looking at would be wearing down of the arteries and inflammation of the arteries as well as anything else that would come in contact to. My big worry would be inflammation of the heart and complication from that could take place anywhere between from when it was injected to years down the road especially if they ever get an infection of the heart or ever go into sepsis. Being able to tell if there was any damage or what the extension of the damage was would require an angiogram honestly.

I always shoot in my arteries.  I love that feeling llike my arm is on fire right before it swells up and looks like a  massive babies arm.  Not to mention the fact that I love feeling basically nothing from my drugs.  Nothing beats the feeling of pumping hundreds into my arteries and feeling basically nothing.  Not even a rush! I mean, what kind of loser uses drugs to feel good?

Pfft.  Its all about shooting direct into my arteries.  I've been using drugs for 400 years, so either I use my arteries or my dick vein.  You're kind of cute.  Want to shoot whiskey into my dick artery?  My dick vein collapsed from too much sexafter dick shots of bath salts. That's like the best you can get right there!

(not making fun of you Gnossos.  I know guys like this amazingly.)
