Pregabalin: Its Pharmacology and Use in Pain / Burns Management
« on: September 11, 2017, 08:51:47 PM »
I will ask for this to treat my chemical burn because it hurts a lot ... I need a non-opioid drug if possible.

Pregabalin in severe burn injury pain: a double-blind, randomised placebo-controlled trial:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21398038

here is it's analgesic value:

source: http://journals.lww.com/anesthesia-analgesia/Fulltext/2007/12000/Pregabalin__Its_Pharmacology_and_Use_in_Pain.47.aspx

abstract:

Pregabalin is a new synthetic molecule and a structural derivative of the inhibitory neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid. It is an α2-δ (α2-δ) ligand that has analgesic, anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, and sleep-modulating activities. Pregabalin binds potently to the α2-δ subunit of calcium channels, resulting in a reduction in the release of several neurotransmitters, including glutamate, noradrenaline, serotonin, dopamine, and substance P. In this review, I will discuss the pharmacology of pregabalin and available efficacy studies in pain management. This review will focus on the advances in pregabalin pharmacology since my previous review in 2005.
