I was totally serious about the dextromethorphan.

Dissociative anaesthetics wont make the wd's go away, but they will make YOU go away.

I've used DXM, Methoxetamine, Methoxydine (4-meo-pcp - the best one IMO).
Even Ether.
Going to the dentist just to get some relief with the nitrous and leave this hell of a physical world for a little while.

I've even used compressed air propellant when my legs were at their worst.

Lyrica is another great one for opiate withdrawal. I didn't feel anything when I was on like 200-300mg q 6 h.

Lyrica is amazing for withdrawals! Just be careful...use it only short term bc it can cause some horrible withdrawals itself. Just use it for a week or so during the worst parts and then taper it down also.

I actually prefer gabapentin/neurontin to pregabalin/lyrica.
Walking out of rehab they wrote me a script of 600mg 4x a day, so ive got a nice supply.

I am sorry you have to go through it, but as you said, it's an inevitable part of the game.  I am putting together a "quit kit" myself.  I have some gabapentin, etizolam, kpins, a tiny bit of Xanax, and one Robaxin (methocarbamol), which I have heard very good things about.  A lot of people claim that Robaxin takes away the RLS and clammy / crawly skin sensations, which sounds wonderful!  So I'd really like to find a few more.

Clonidine seems to be the go-to WD aid.  Do you have the luxury of getting a prescription?  Low doses are effective, so one script MIGHT cover both of you.  DXM was also recommended to me, although it's already been mentioned.  Another good suggestion was phenibut (thanks, Nark) which can be had at some local supplement stores.  It's likely cheaper online; from the minimal price research I've done, it seemed quite affordable.  However, I am not sure whether you have a few bucks to spare.  The phenibut may help you sleep if you're habituated to benzos and without Z drugs.

Everyone and their mother will recommend Clonidine. Clonadine is a α2 adrenergic agonist and imidazoline receptor. aka. it's not what you need to help. Will it relax a normal person? Sure. Will it relax someone in w/d's in my experience not a chance. It's one of those drugs that's better then nothing but it's not what you want. Lyrica is useful but again not the best. I'd vote for Gabapentin. When it comes to unscheduled comfort meds I can't think of one better. I have 4g in me right now (don't do that unless you know what you're doing).

Really, Gabapentin is your winner.

Unless you can get a lot of benzo.

Right, but some people experience moderate to severe blood pressure spikes during CT WD and occasionally during properly planned drops (in the case of a taper).  I imagine the clonidine is recommended to have on hand to prevent dangerous spikes.  Blood pressure issues run on my father's side of the family, so I (personally) would be more comfortable kicking with a tried and true med within reach.  Of course, an accurate BP monitor should be used at regular intervals and blind dosing should be discouraged.  Taking it when it's not called for can cause BP dips which bring on dizzy spells and light-headedness upon standing.

But BP spikes aside, I agree with gabapentin FTW!  I agree that clonidine likely won't offer much (if anything) in the way of comfort and sleep.

I didn't consider the BP spikes if it runs in your family. This is why family history is important in medicine. I would probably go with propranolol but clonidine could work too.

But again, Gaba FTW! I'm up to 11.4g (again don't do that) It's going to be a long night.

Yeah and i've taken more since then but let's leave numbers out of it. I do like my Gaba. And I agree Soma over robaxin. Hell Soma is C4 in some states for reasons passing understanding if gaba is unscheduled. Personally I'd skip the channel blocker unless you feel you need it. And that temazepam is going to help more then anything. But give the gaba a shot. If you've never taken it before like this start with 900mg. You wont hurt yourself. For some perspective i'm prescribed 1200mg 3 times a day. Do I take more then that? Sure. But i'm nuts.

On the subject of GABA (not GP!) dosages, with no current tolerance for any benzo or GABA agonist, I went through 90 750mg GABA in about 4 days last week. That's a lot even for me, but it's what I needed to keep the jeebies away after 2-3 days eating small amts Xanax during a bad week earlier in the month.

I usually eat 4-6g at a time, sometimes a little more. The shit definitely helps WD, I get little to nothing else but an easing of benzo WD symptoms (and this lovely prickly feeling on my neck & scalp when it kicks in), but to me it's priceless for benzo WD, nothing else helps outside of moar xnx.

Chipper and tta hit the nail on the head. Its a hard train to get off. Trust me ive been trying. Subs are a serious thought. But i cringe at having that on my record. I need to do something. Right now im dope sick at work and cant wait to go home and put my last two morphine in my arm. The two from this am held me okay for half a day. I toy with the idea of pm but thats what kind of got me here to start with. Its a bitch. Im 30 years old sticking needles in my arm and i hate it as much as i love it. There just isnt any good answer. God 76 degrees feels like 40....

Two questions for you. Sorry you're in WD but thought I'd ask you....will at least give you something to do!

You ever try tianeptine? I haven't but have read a lot about it and how it's useful for WD. Anyone?

How do the 30mg morphine compare to the 4mg dilaudids?
