Fair Lawn – A Garfield woman was arrested after attempting to steal from the Project Medicine Drop in the municipal building.

Fair Lawn Police responded to Dunkin’ Donuts on Broadway at 12:16 a.m. on Oct. 27 after an employee observed a male and female walking in and out of the business, taking unpaid items. Robyn Verga, 27, of Garfield; Jordan Stevens, 27, of Prospect Park; and Rosemary Verga, 64, of Garfield, were arrested after the unpaid items were found in a 2008 Nissan that Rosemary Verga was driving, according to a press release from Sgt. Brain Metzler of the Fair Lawn Polie Department.

Robyn Verga and Stevens were charged with shoplifting. Rosemary Verga was charged with receiving stolen property. They were all released by police.

Less than 45 minutes later the trio returned to police headquarters, which is located inside the municipal building on Fair Lawn Avenue, to claim property that was taken during their arrest. Through the department’s video surveillance system, Detective Paul Donohue and Capt. Robert Kneer observed Robyn Verga place her arm inside the Project Medicine Drop box that is located at the entrance of the municipal building, said police.

The officers approached Verga and arrested her when two bottles of medication (Hydrocodone and Vicodin) were found in her clothing. She was released after being charged with theft of movable property and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, according to police.

Project Medicine Drop, which is overseen by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, allows residents to bring their unused and expired medications to the box. Pills, capsules, patches and pet medications can be dropped in the box. Liquid, needles and syringes cannot be put in the box.

I'm more surprised than anything if she actually got something out of the box (although the article isnt totally clear whether those pills were from the box or brought in with them).  You couldn't even get a $5 VHS tape out of the blockbuster drop box 15 years ago...or a library book...how does a prescription drop box end up less secure then those things?  LOL

What kinda crew of mopes get arrested twice, and released twice, in one night?

Shit man.... I'm moving to Fair Lawn.

As to how that chick got into that drop box, well, where there is a junky, there is junky ingenuity.

Well done Robin Verga.... March right into that damn municipal building and get yours.

Idiot.

You'd think they'd notice the eye in the sky watching all-although apparently they didn't.
