Title: Supervised UAs?
Post by: Esoteric Anhydride on June 24, 2017, 01:47:16 AM
So I started at a new klinik earlier this month and just overheard the receptionist this am telling some dude that he had to have a supervised UA. WTF? Shit is draconian if you ask me, I didn't think this was very common at all anymore, it never happened at all in the ~5 years I spent at my last klinik. Honestly the very last thing I need when trying to squeeze my bladder for a few drops is some $10/hr wannbe-counselor motherfucker eyeballing my jock.

Anyone else gotta put up with this BS?

its kind of a long story and I won't get into it other than to say our clinic gave Andi one supervised ua because she told them to after a test came back negative for done. I'd figure they would only do a supervised ua if there was some extenuating circumstance at play. I'd hope that watching people piss in a cup is not something that your clinic makes a habit of.

Ya I asked another dude if that was the norm, and he said it hadn't happened to him. The dude getting bottled had a lock-box, so I know he had been there awhile, and the way the nurse asked him if he was down, I kinda got that it might not be the norm. So maybe there was a problem with a previous UA of his, or maybe it's a randomized thing they do..

At both of the clinics I used to go to, there were cameras in the bathroom.  Normally, when you went in to do your ~monthly UA the cameras were turned off.  A few times I had to do a "supervised" UA where the camera was turned on and a male counselor/tech watched the monitor.  I think I had to do that only 2 or 3 times in five years of being on methadone.

I remember one of the supervised ones I had to do was because I was absolutely fucked out of my gourd on benzo's.  Apparently, I taken literally a handful of xanax an hour or two before dosing.  I guess I checked in - went back to the waiting room and ended up seeing my counselor.  I think the intake person called my counselor and informed her I looked quite fucked up.  My counselor took one look at me and apparently told me to leave and come back tomorrow as there was no way they were going to give me methadone when I was that fucked up.  I guess I thought I would "out-smart" them so I left the clinic and waited a half hour or something and tried to check in again  ;D  Needless to say, I was not as sneaky as I thought and my counselor told me once again to leave.

The next day, I checked in and was told I needed to see my counselor.  She asked me, "What was up with yesterday?"  I had no clue what she was talking about as I was 100% blacked out.  She filled me in as to my behavior and I just sat there looking sheepishly at her  ^-^  She then made me do a "supervised" UA to see what was in my system.

That clinic got in quite a bit of trouble for being so lenient with people abusing benzo's and they lost their contract with MA for a while.  That shit would NEVER have been tolerated at the clinic I ended up at next.

They're pretty common in public bathrooms here, but usually not right in the stalls.  The laws might vary down there for you guys.  Maybe even by state.

If you see a mirror with a deep frame you can bet with confidence that it's one way glass with a camera behind it.  Sometimes they are canted or angled down a bit to make it seem like a practical nice thing instead of being a cover for surveillance.

So it looks like in the absence of evidence of prior tampering, direct supervision is basically considered a 4th amendment violation:

..good to know

This surprised me. At the two main clinics in Seattle, all UAs are supervised in person by the " UA Tech." What a title. Sometimes at my clinic, it is so busy that 3 or 4 clients will have to UA at the same time in a bathroom with 3 urinals and 1 toilet. All the urinals are surrounded by mirrors.
The clinic also has a mobile home sort of thing they do UAs in. If you want to turn off the running water to help you urinate, they play a recording of running water. It is very soothing.

Yep. THS ~1990, my first stint on MD and that's exactly what they did. Some dweeb who's sole job it was to watch junkies pee in cups, and he wasn't nice or empathetic about it at all, he straight insisted that he was eyeballing your shit when you pee'd and that was that - no pee, no dose, no exceptions, no leniency.

Buncha Nazi motherfuckers if you ask me. Left that klinik with a real bad taste. I'm honestly surprised that they still do that shit there. The CRC doesn't do it, they have mirrors but BFD, to me that's a lot less invasive.

Someone should sue THS for 4th amendment violations, I'm not even joking. Not only is it "unreasonable", IMO it's also "cruel and unusual." Just because we be dopefiends doesn't mean we aren't entitled to a modicum of dignity..

No supervised UA's at the clinic I go to here in my part of Los Angeles.
Hell, I went to use the bathroom one day and some guy was in there sitting on the toilet and wanted to know if I would come in
and give him my urine so he could test.
This clinic I go to is such a shit hole. No air conditioning this summer. Won't be fixed. \
My counselor is obviously still using. Has that puffy looks to her hands, needle marks, nods during sessions.
I don't have much longer at this clinic, but if I had to do a supervised UA, I would be pissed. I won't even sit down on the toilet, it is so dirty, so having someone watch me while I try to give my sample standing up would be much harder to do than it already is.

Cameras in the bathroom, that is a violation.

I lived in a small town in Ontario for a bit and the clinic there was a real old school place like this.  The toilet wasn't even hooked up to running water.  You took a plastic 'hat' and stuck it in the toilet bowl and brought them the hat full of piss.  They would fill up the bottle and then hand you back the hat for you to was out in another room with working water.  There was a window beside the dosing window and it went right into the bathroom.  They made you wait to dose when someone was doing a test because you could see right into the toilet room from the counter.  In other words the dosing nurse would watch you do the test before giving you the dose, and no piss no dose.  If it was busier they probably would have used a system like you're describing.

It was a pretty backwards fucked up place now that I think about it.

They used to do it at my clinic but now they just swab you.  I probably had 5 supervised UA's in 4 yrs or so.  Twice they were random, and the other two times either I couldn't go the first time or there wasn't enough piss in the cup.  I like the swab better cuz I feel like I can get away with a LOT more.

If you get 1 week of carries or more, you have to call in on specified days of the week for random recalls.  Have to bring all your meds in and submit a UA. Rules stated it was to be a supervised UA but they almost never wanted to go in w/you it seemed.  Again, now they just do a mouth swab.

Draconian is a good word fer it, shit sucks.  All the years I was on probation/parole, I fucking DREADED supervised piss tests, I never could get over it either....probably because I was always dirty :o :o.

I'm pretty sure I developed a complex about it over the years.

I had to do a supervised UA at one of the clinics I was with years and years ago...

I told the damn nurse I couldn't go, could she wait a sec? Lemme have some H2o or something.

But she wouldn't fucking wait and called the male "piss watchman" over.

It was a rough morning. It wasn't happening... and I was bearing down kinda hard, when all of a sudden I ripped one. Like one of those Mouse Squeek kinda ones. And for some odd reason. Perhaps the stress of the moment, the thing was fucking foul.

I felt so embarassed.

The dude was like.... "Goddamn, Ima just tell em' you good.... jus' tell em you're good to check in."

While dosing I noticed a waft of Lysol or some other such "ass spray" on the breeze.

Fucking UA's
