A man who allegedly killed another man by slashing his throat at Melbourne's Crown Metropol hotel is possibly withdrawing from the drug ice, a court has heard.

Darren Webb, 40, was found dead in one of the hotel rooms last Sunday with his throat slashed.

Crown Metropol is part of the Crown Melbourne resort, which includes Crown Casino and two other hotels.

Elias Herodotou, 28, from Hadfield, was arrested at a house in Malvern East on Friday afternoon after police launched an appeal for information on his whereabouts.

He was charged with murder and has been remanded in custody.

Herodotou chose not to appear in court but the matter was still heard.

His lawyer said he may be withdrawing from substances, including the drug ice and had depression and a spinal injury.

The case will return to court on July 16.

no matter how much Meth i do or for how long, not a single evil or violent thought crosses my mind.

so why is so much of the bad behaviour attributed to tweakers ?

simply because it's the weak, evil and violent that often make great copy ... Meth makes those people become more brazen, greedy and confident for so much longer.

it's a tragedy that a few are ALWAYS trashing the fun for many others.

i don't have a solution to this problem unfortunately.

I've never tried meth and don't plan on it because of all the people I've seen change completely after they start using it. I've seen folks turn into greedy, violent pieces of shit after using meth. But I guess the same could be said for H and/or other opiates.

I'm in redneck ass MS though so maybe that's why I've never met a responsible, normal meth user. Everybody I know that uses it is a piece of shit that'll take quarters out of your change tray in your car while you're in the gas station getting a pack of cigs. I simply don't trust ANYONE that uses meth.

They seem to snitch on people WAY MORE than opiate users too. Maybe it's 'cause the charges they face are more serious than if they get caught with opiates/opioids but every snitch in my town is a meth user or former meth user that only stopped 'cause they snitched to get in drug court and not get jail time.

Again, I'm biased since I've never used it and am only a junky that has always loved opiates/opioids. I even love good coke but I've never seen good coke make folks act the way that meth makes them act. I don't understand why they're normal while using large amounts of coke or eating 30 adderall a day but COMPLETELY change the day they take their first hit of meth off some foil.

It seems like it would be easy to control or only use once or twice a week, at least when they first start using it but that's never the case. Everybody I know that starts using it turns into a meth head that stays up for days at a time and will do anything to get it and will fuck over their best friend or their mom to get money to get meth. Especially now that it's like $30-40 a gram instead of the old home-made crank that was $100-150 a gram.

I've never understood the draw to it and why it changes people SO MUCH while they're using it. I've also never understood why meth users don't drink alcohol while they're geeked up on that shit. I love good coke because it keeps me awake so that I can drink and party more and for longer. I never meet anybody that's drinking AND using meth at the same time. It seems like they'd go hand in hand since meth users always tell me they need benzos to take the edge off.

Sorry for my shitty opinion of it and I'm sure there are responsible meth users that can hit it enough to be high and not get out of control. I'd love to meet a normal meth user that uses it without losing their shit and pawning everything they own to get it or turning out their own wife/girlfriend to get money to buy it. There's gotta be plenty of meth users that can hold down a normal job and pay their bills and take care of their business (wife, children, etc..) before spending their money on meth but I've literally never met one.

Also, I've always heard coming down from it sucks but it doesn't seem like something that a shot of H and/or some benzos couldn't take care of, especially if you're only using it once in awhile instead of staying up for a week or two. Even then, it seems like you could take a bunch of benzos or seroquel to come down and sleep your ass off, then take some adderall/ritalin/nuvigil/provigil and/or drink lots of caffeine when you wake up feeling tired as fuck.

^^At least y'all get to see an honest opinion of meth from a junky that's never used it.
