Title: Reporter & Cameraman Shot & Killed On-Camera (Virginia)
Post by: Morfy on August 27, 2015, 12:51:22 PM
I'm sure most of you have heard and seen parts of yesterday morning's LIVE, on-air shooting & killing in Virginia.

Most news places will only show the video up to the point just before the first shot is fired.

If you dig a little, you can see the entire video from the cameraman.  If you dig A LOT DEEPER, you can find the video that the shooter recorded!

Apparently, in one hand, he held his pistol, in the other, his smartphone, recording his POV of the murders.  It is very disturbing.  He waiting until the Cameraman turned his camera on the reporter (he was shooting an establishing shot), before shooting.

If you find the shooters video, at 18 seconds, you can hear him mutter under his breath: "Bitch!"

Also, if this video was to be his Swan-Song (he was a reporter too), he filmed it in the Vertical (or the worse orientation to shoot video with).

THere's going to be a lot of talk about this case: The shooter was of African descent, and his victims were of European descent.

People will talk of Gun Control for a while, then it will die down, until another shooting occurs.  ANd it will occur.

Other people will say that the only way a reporter & a cameraman can stop a bad person with a gun, is if they themselves have a gun.

Situation is out of control.  Although both videos do NOT show any gore, they are heart-wrenching none the less.

Your thoughts:

it's retaliation and gun crime on a new level.

everyone loses.

shooting those who you blame for your personal transgressions is not the answer.

... but wow ! what a twisted soul that shooter be.

Thanks for the link JDub.

I think even if people were super nice to each other all the time, some person is still going to be offended somehow, and use that as an excuse for violence.

Try to keep situational awareness wherever you are.  Its not guaranteed to help, but it could give you a few seconds which could make a difference.

There is no way a gun would have saved that reporter...because they didn't even realize he was there!

Arming everyone isn't the solution, it would just be population control. Let all the undesirables kill each other off...you know, why not.

Glad to see my home state representing here! (not)

That is soooo fucked up I can't even put it into words.

You said the shooter was of African descent, but the hand on the gun looked like it belonged to a White person. Possibly a White African (like South African or Namibian or Mozambican?) Sounded like he had a personal grudge against that female reporter, saying "bitch" moments before he pulled the trigger.

That's messed up how he walked up to them first and pointed a fucking gun at the lady and nobody noticed, nobody panicked or anything. Seems like that disappointed him, like he expected everyone to freak the fuck out when they saw him standing there with the gun in his hand.

What was that weapon? A Glock of some kind? .40? 9mm?

All I know is watching Hilary Shitbag Clinton immediately respond to this shooting (like she has all others since the late 1990s) with aggressive anti-gun, pro-control sentiments, made me fucking sick. I really despise that woman and anyone who wants to frame this as anything other than a glaring mental health crisis in this country. The mentally ill and unstable of this nation (like many other ostracized groups) have been let down 100% by the "system", so to speak, and as a result you see this (relative) increase of gun-related acts of violence against innocent people.

absolutely no way a gun would have saved them. Though she was able to scream/run away. chances are, that very first shot that hit her/alarmed her to the fact that she was even being shot was going to be fatal. Some people online are saying how awful they were at noticing there surroundings and shit due to never noticing the dude but fuck, she is working, and its not like when she got out of the van the camera guy was like "yo lady jus keep ya eyes on the up n up round these parts nasayin, be on the lookout for gunmen n shit whn ya doin dez liveshots"
not sure why i gave him that voice

even if they noticed him the fuck where they going to do? "OH SHIT MEMBER DAT TALK!? PULL OUT CHA PIECE"
im still doing that voice, the fuck!?

Personally, When the bulletin news break came on the tv and said that the gunman dude had been taken to the hospital with a self inflicted gunshot i was hoping the cocksucker would live to see the remainder of his piece of shit life lived out in the worst way imaginable.

saying that his reason for the shooting was because he was fired, and the woman was his replacement, AND that it was in retaliation to the church shooting last month is just sick. ridiculous
I think i read someplace that the camera guy he also killed was one of the people reasonable for his firing after working with him a few times?
the same article said one of the reasons he was fired was wearing an obama support button on air during election coverage or something

Agreed the mental health system in this country is a joke. It's a major problem, the symptoms of which we see in the increases in homelessness, prison populations, substance use/abuse, violence/ shootings, support for Donald Trump, etc.

Any society that makes it far easier to get a gun then access mental health treatment will have problems.
