dads side, granpa was ukranian immigrant
grandma was the daughter of an irish immigrants family

moms side
grandpa, is mohawk nation iroqouis
grandma is french canadian (fench. gisel lalone)

not terribly worried if somebody thinks they know me but its a common mistake.

i really take pride in a 4 contributing genetics. i identify the most with my native side because i wa taught the great spirit stories and celebrations. technique catholic but f that shit,.. im agnostic borderline atheist. (some days more than others. i just always get back to you cant get something with from nothing (everything is a part of something welse so i break it down until all thats left is an eternal spririt (cathfrase here), etc. now i know its a straight up matter that is held together by the laws  of physics. (and yes im aware of quantum physics and being able to "time travel" or make a atom  or molecule disappear and pop up in another place. exceptions to the rul thats why im on the fense. i haven't had anyone break it down further than that and convince me with science. now im a dirty hippy Rasta man and believe in mystical powers but a deity? mmmm doubt it. great spirit.

buddhism is my jam when it come s to a philosophy, not a religion, verey important to know buddhism is just thje philosophy of sidharth gotama.. the original buddha. the prince turned want\dering astectic to lover to lover of all living things and enlightenmen.

Well my folks on both sides are from planet earth ;D so I guess I feel lucky bout that.

Seriously tho dads side, german, poland, and ruskie. Jewish of course. I remember my great great grandma from when i was young, she was always making traditional russian foods. Things like borsch soup, a wierd purple soup made from beets. It is said there are distant cousins alive n well over there, would be interesting to meet them someday! Moms side england and austria. Her dads family name before they came to the US was hitler, so of ourse they changed it upon arrival. They were also jewish, me not so much. Being free to choose I believe in higer powers but hard to subscribe to one story....

I'm not real sure if I have any ancestry. I've always been told that I was found in the woods under a rotting log, so maybe mushroom, I don't know

I'm like half Swedish, and a quarter English, the rest I'm not sure. I don't know a whole lot about my dad's side of the family, but my mom was pretty much full Swedish. Both of here sets of grandparents immigrated from Sweden in the late 1800s/early 1900s. My grandmother's family moved to Nome, Alaska where they operated a brothel, that's where she grew up. When she was a teenager, she moved to the Bay Area and met my grandfather. He ended up becoming an executive at Bechtel and they traveled a lot, so my mom grew up all over the world, India, Chile, Pakistan, Madagascar, Saudi Arabia, all over. They were friends with all kinds of interesting people in the 60's (Saudi princes, Jackie Onassis, a lot of 60's socialites). When my mom was 16, they moved back to California. My mom became a hippie and met my dad in the mid seventies. Thats really all I know about my family's history, I wish I knew more.

Caddyshack (1980) was a GREAT fucking movie!

Here is a compilation of funny quotes from the film:

Amen to that. The sequel was terrible though. Even Chevy Chase couldn't save that cash-grabbing trainwreck, though God knows he tried:

However, there's just no comparison with the original:

Poor Harold Ramis. Well, at least it couldn't get any worse than Caddyshack 2, right?

Oh...oh dear.

Does anyone else hear that? That's the sound of someone spinning in their grave.

American

my dad's side of the family is irish as irish can be
all his grandparents were from county cork and emigrated here in the late 1800s/early 1900s

my mom's side is a bit hazy
her father's father was from ireland but nobody remembers from where
her mother's father was a nederlander (Dutch)
but her grandmothers were both irish as well

genetically i got the fluorescent skin, brow ridge and affinity for chemicals
and the freaky tallness and love of colonialism (jk) from the dutchies

really though, my name is about the only irish thing about me
aside from the freckles
I can say with (some) pride that I am an American, born in Brooklyn
that to me is FAR more meaningful than where my great-grandparents were born

i think, on a subconscious level, that our "ancestry" is a way to fall back on how to live in society
when we are young we still have to learn it ourselves
being able to look at a cultural tradition that is 1000s, rather than 100s, gives you some kind of... direction? to go in

I've really only got info on my fathers side ..
There was a DNA test done and it stated that I'm descended from
Either the Angle tribe in what is now Denmark or the Saxon tribe in what is northern Germany ..
We then ended up in eastern and middle England by the 1000s...
Places like Northamptonshire and Kent ...my direct descendents then headed to Virginia in the 1600s...my great great great great great grandfather was born in Pittsylvania county Va and after fighting in the revolutionary war headed south to Georgia ..Henry county ,Fulton county etc ..my family stayed there up until the late 60s ,my grandfather then headed to Los Angeles and after a few years there to Kansas City  Mo where he decided to stay ...

Apparently,

I am related to "Banjo-Boy" from the movie Deliverance.  His Wife/Sister was my grandma/mother; so that makes him my grandfather/Uncle, I think.

And that's about as much branching as my family tree does--all the back to Neanderthals, pretty much just a straight tree trunk.

What nationality was BB?? I don't know really, Scotch-Irish, runt-conjoined twin (surgically removed at 12 years), albino, sister-love'n, single central incisor, no adult teeth-having, polydactyly, fragile-X, Klinefelters XXY genotype, semi-inverted hermaphroditic, male-pattern baldness, hypospadia (peeing out of the BASE of the penis), knock-kneed, left-handed, banjo-savant, eyes-too-close-together, twerkin epilepsy syndrome, dichromatic color blindess, cat-eye pupil-having, pimple-wart buttocks disease, micrognathia, wonkey-ear, nunuco body hair, absent philtrum, hydrocephalic-microencephaly, tetralogy of fallot, dextrocardia, IBS, 2-left feet havin, triskaidyslexiadekaphobia (an irrational, misguided fear of the number 31), just to name a few.

I know that's not a nationality, but its the closest I got, dammit!

I love boasting about my native ancestry. This thread is awesome. Although I am actually a member of my tribe so it's not some white guy saying he's cherokee or whatever. I'm very proud of my tribe.

Born 'n bred new yorker. And that includes before europeans.

Since we live in a european style paternal style society I'll start there.

My dads side is actually the least I know about, his mothers last name was La guardia, and it's rumored she's related to that one famous mayor guy. I don't really talk to that side much, and since my father is dead I can't ask many questions. But he was born in NY and so was I, and all my siblings.

So german, italian on that side as far as I know. Immigrants from western europe.

Me mothas side I'm ramapough/another immigrant mutt. My grandfather was born in the ramapough mountains on the border of NY and NJ, where the ramapogh nation is at. Where ford build a plant and dumped toxic waste into the land. Where donald trump has been for decades trying to buy land and build a casino of his own, while depriving my people of building their own at the same time.

It's about 30 miles from NYC, but I digress.

MY moms mom is french, dutch, irish mostly. Probably german ect... Her maiden name is french.

I do apologize, kinda, for always trying to plug my tribe, but I'm really passionate about their plight. We're recognized in NJ and I think NY but not federally. My last name is Mann btw for anyone who actually reads about us. Dwaine Perry is my cousin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramapough_Mountain_Indians

Here's a film that exaggerates a little but our tribe is in that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_of_the_Furnace

And they recently made a documentary wince I can't remember the name of.

If you want to meet a REAL native, meet my wife. She says she has a spanish great grandfather but who knows. The rest, native. Oklahoma for ya.

Nothing fancy, just a Mc Wop (Irish and Italian) as far as I know. I look more Irish than Italian though. My uncle was able to do the Italian side of our family tree back pretty far. A lot of priests in it going pretty far back. I still have a cousin who's a priest in the Rome area. I would love to know more about the Irish side of my family though.
My husband is pretty much the same but with a touch of confirmed Native American. I'm kinda jealous. I dig the Native folks big time.
