Dayum dude.

It probably doesn't help that it's yer foot, kinda long ways away from yer heart.

If there's one thing I've learned since I started muscling my dope, and dealing with a lot of really borderline infections, it's that heat is anti-biotic #1. There's a lot of #2 shit, but IMO nothing slows an infection like a hot-ass hot pad.

JMHO

'luck yo

Wow, what incompetent people at the hospital who did this. I hope you get some capable hands to care for you somehow. Wishing you a speedy healing.

they can't treat the ribs but my foot was dying.

2 doctors used an ultrasound to find a working vein that wasn't affected by clotting and not to close to an artery.

I am on a drip and on the mend but will need a skin graft.

Chipper are you at the same hospital that did this to you? I'm glad you went for treatment right away.

Were they trying to take blood, or was it an IV?

on my 4th different antibiotic now ...

Benzyl Pennicillin, Flucloxacillan, Tazocin and now another one because world-wide Tazocin stocks are severely depleted.

Fuck man! Chip I am so sorry to see this. It is truly horrible. I know you stopped using opiates so I hope this doesn't fuck all that up. Atleast your golly is down enough where pain meds can help though. They don't like to give people 150 mg morphine shots every 4-6 hours lmfao!

the only pain meds that I have asked for is 30 mg Codeine.

I'm getting some frequent Diaz to keep me cool.

more worried than smart but thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt.

opiates+money=Methadone and my job just can't accommodate that.

Oh Chipper. That looks painful.
Acyclovir can be used in infections that are caused by the varicella-zoster virus. I imagine they took swabs of the necrotic area and maybe it they found that particular virus. It's an antiviral that is used in HIV patients. Did they tell you whey they wanted to use the Acyclovir?
Sounds like they got you on quite the antibiotic cocktail.
What was in the IV when it infiltrated? There are IV fluids that can cause necrosis when the IV infiltrates and medications that do the same.
Next time, ask for a PICC line. I hope that is what they have in you now.

That's a pretty good wound you got there. It happens and in the feet, it is more likely to happen quickly because of decreased blood flow. How long before someone noticed it was infiltrated?

Are they using a natural/synthetic graft. If you are using a donor site from your own skin, it can hurt like hell after the graft. You may want to ask for something after the graft if that is the case. Good on you for sticking it out with just some benzos and codeine. You do heal much faster when pain is treated properly, but I do understand your concern with any pain meds.

Hope it all goes well and you are on the mend soon. I hope you are getting your dose in there.

I have no idea why they chose to use Acyclovir ... i think they may have got me confused with another patient or though i may have HIV, i dunoo ...

it was there for about 10 minutes and hurt like hell.

I didn't have my glasses and couldn't get anyone's attention so I started yelling and waving my arms until someone saw me.

they will grafting skin from my thigh but the date is not set yet. I have a silver sponge dressing on that I have to get changed today.

nobody offered a reason for it or the spinal tap.

no herpes zoster etc.

I am not on Methadone now so dose required.

I asked to go home for a few days as they weren't able to grow any bacteria but am taking fluclox as a precaution (my idea).

I am being treated by the burns unit.

Chipper, you poor thing!  That looks horrendous!  I hope you aren't in too much pain!  You are a better person than me...I'd be screaming for the IV Dilaudid by now!

Wishing you a speedy and pain free recovery!!!

Post by: Chip on August 18, 2017, 11:05:38 PM
thank you, Lolleedee but it's about time i try to cope by other means.

i have had a lot of time to think about this and i am not upset with the hospital, as i mentioned in another thread.

I also found out that i am NOT growing any bacteria and the changing list of A/B's is only precautionary - on Fluclox. oral (qid).

I discharged myself from the hospital because i'd rather get back to work and attend as an outpatient at the (drug) Burns unit twice a week until they figure out if/how/when i need a skin graft ... and keep my job. That is the most important thing to me as i have only wokred for about 4 months out of the last 56 months !

The new compression bandage (with (an) added "tweak"  ;)) has eliminated all pain as of right now.

I'm still quite happy that this was not done by my own hand, as it always has been in the past ... i'm lovin' that irony.

they keep on delaying my skin graft and it's a worry. I have to look forward to another two weeks of unpaid leave fucking hanging around the hospital and not being able to get my tweak.

it does bother me that I am suffering the incompetence of ICU where they gave me Fent and more muscle relaxants. a spinal tap. acyclovir in my foot. it's outrageous. I could've just slept it off and they have no idea about Phenibut. it really was a comedy of errors and now it's costing me. I asked for Oxycodone but must junkie history excludes me from such drugs.

Heaven fucking forbid that I catch some euphoria.

After what they did to me, I lost my cool when the best they could offer was Tramadol but it's neuropathic pain relief actually worked and I won't have to endure yet another opiate withdrawal of any significance.

you know that you went to a good party when you end up in intensive care. party hard or go home @ 8)

Jfc! This is crazy, Chipper. I'm so sorry this happened to you. You are a trooper though-  wow. I understand feeling relief because you didn't cause your own damage but man I would be passed at the hospital. You are being much more understanding than I would be.
Ouch :(

Post by: Chip on September 03, 2017, 11:42:23 AM
well, I am quite upset about it but there was no malice or personal gain so I can't take it any further.

my foot is healing well and I can walk properly now.

double bagging my foot up to the thigh is a hassle as I must not get my bandage wet.

so I only shower every 3 days (prior to getting a new dressing) like a true tweaker would do ...  :P

Hell a shower every three days is like three or four more times than ya need. Your golden dog. I hope things are working out yo
