Title: Baclofen (chloro-Phenibut)
Post by: Chip on January 12, 2017, 08:12:08 PM
BaclofenWiki has caught my attention as i recently found out that it is a "chloro-Phenibut" and about 100 times stronger than Phenibut, by weight.

It does not touch the GHB receptor (like Phenibut) and is used more often in Phenibut / GHB/GBL etc. withdrawal management.

I have had it in hospital and didn't really feel it though ... i might have been on too many other meds at the time (maxed out at 7) for discitis.

Baclofen seems to have little to no abuse potential BUT has anybody found any recreational value in it ?

My PM doc prescribed it for me last visit. I didn't like it at all so I stopped taking it after
4 days. It made me wired (unable to sleep for an entire night) yet totally unmotivated.
It did work for its intended purpose but made me sick to my stomach.

Thanks, Opi-ette ... that sounds awful. I tried about 300 mg of Pregablin (Lyrica - another GABApentiniod) and i found it most unpleasant, couldn't wait for it wear off but others like it.

I wonder if anyone likes Baclofen ?

I bought a fair amount of it online last year from Russia/Eastern Europe, because it seemed like it had limited use during withdrawal but mainly because I remember reading some things suggesting that a fairly constant regiment of it after kicking could reduce opiate cravings (not just alcohol cravings, which it was most famous for, because of that book "My Way Out" by a French doctor in NYC (Amiesen?) about how he quit booze with baclofen).

I haven't tried it yet, but if/when I finally get off opiates, I think I'll try it as a "maintenance" type thing.  This might be the perfect time for you to experiment with it, Chip.  Look around online for some affordable sources -- Lioresal is the name it's known under in India, generally, IIRC. I can also go through my browsing from last year and try to find where I bought it, I think I got most of it from a Bulgarian site.  It wasn't very expensive (and it's not a controlled substance in the US, although it is Rx-only), but it wasn't dirt-cheap either -- I still had some money to play around with on experiments back then.

EDIT:  Here's the article on baclofen for opiate dependence: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC293465/

Mainly I'm interested in the potential to help PAWS.  12 weeks post-detox, "Treatment retention was significantly higher in the baclofen group" and "Baclofen also showed a significant superiority over placebo in terms of opiate withdrawal syndrome and depressive symptoms. Non-significant, but generally favorable responses were seen in the baclofen group with other outcome measures including intensity of opioid craving and self-reported opioid and alcohol use."

But the kicker is that the baclofen-takers still ended up using just the same as the placebo: "However, no significant difference was seen in the rates of opioid-positive urine tests. Additionally, the drug side effects of the two groups were not significantly different."

I think i will stick with the Phenibut as it's legal and I've got heaps of it due to a mistake on the vendor's part and they felt guilty and doubled the order ... or they want me addicted  :P :P

My friend has a small GBL addiction where she gets sweats and tremors kicking in about 12 hours after dosing so she could do with it but I have given her a backup with a few grams Phenibut for her G issue and all my Methadone reserves for her substantial Heroin habit.

I am no longer opiate dependant so I can't really help anyway.

I just thought that this skeletal muscle relaxant would feel like a mega Valium but I got very wrong.

these were big in the state prison. i used to chew up like 30-40mg along with 2400+mg of gabapentin and damn, that was pretty nice. i always see the 10mg baclofens, chomp a couple of 'em up and throw in some gabapentin if you're so inclined.

Thanks for the encouragement and dosing reference, Oxyphile.

If i find some then i'll try it in combo with regular Phenibut as i can't access Gabapentin.

I recommended Baclofen to a friend who is still very much into the GHB prodrug, GBL.

it's been able to hold her when she can't access GBL.

but taking both has to be a bad idea.
