Best Local Craft Beers
« on: August 29, 2015, 10:52:54 AM »
It is usually pretty hard to figure out ratings on sites like beeradvocate
so I figured this would be a good venue to ask
what are the best craft beers, especially those that synergize well with opiates and other drugs
(that being said almost any beer goes well with smoking lots of pot)

Being from central Florida I can attest to two decent breweries from the area (both in tampa)
one is the epitome of crafts in the area, Cigar City, named after Ybor City, notable for its cigars/cubans
they offer a wide variety of goodness, a helles, a brown ale, two IPAs and a cider, all above 5% abv
hands down best is the Jai Alai IPA at 7.5%
creamy and smooth yet it has that citrusy piney bite
and a 6 pack is really like 9 beers of alcohol!

the other is the newer Coppertail Brewery
The offer a less beers but more variety
a trippel, an ipa, and if im not mistaken, a doppelbock and something else
ive only tried the trippel and ipa, and while im more partial to hops than malt
i can drink the Unholy Trippel all day
(even though I'm drinking the Free Dive IPA right now)

so please, let me know what is deliciously intoxicating from you area

Yeh, i have some cigar city beers and they are really good.

I have been drinking a lot of sours recently.

Ever heard of Orpheus brewing?

Their transmigration of souls is a really good ipa, but i really havent been doing too many trong flavored beers.

I really love their tart plum saison and am dying to try their truly sour beers.

Dogfish 60 from Milton, DE.  I don't drink much beer but when I do it's DF 60.  Expensive stuff though.

Port City lager, brewed in Alexandria, is a pretty nice imitation of Sam Adams lager. Very hoppy and delicious. I mean Sam Adams is good right?

The have an awesome catch phrase for marketing: "We put the ale back in ALExandria." Love it!

Dales Pale Ale (Oskar Blues Brewing) is one of my faves & is brewed maybe 40 miles from me (Lyons, CO).   Ska Brewing's "Modus Hopperande" is also good if you like really Hoppy IPA's they're in Durango, CO)  Both are in cans & while I prefer bottles I used to know this old guy who used the phrase "the best thing since canned beer" (like instead of sliced bread).  I always think of that phrase when i buy cans.  Odell is right down the street from me & their IPA is me fave citrus-heavy IPA.  My long time fave is Sierra Nevada Pale but it's not local & has been around forever so I'd guess you're already familiar

we live life trying to make a mark. we die looking for a trail left, searching for meaningful ink splattered across buildings, cars and spouses; hoping they are enough to make up for this unremarkable life of going to go to get. eventually we find out the finish line concludes with a large empty pot

Just released from New Belgium is "Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA." Clocks in at a whopping 9% alcohol.  It really doesn't taste like a beer that strong & is my new go-to.  If you seek it out be aware that New Belgium also has a "Voodoo Ranger IPA" that's not as strong, haven't tried that one.

When I first read this I laughed because I thought it said " ....beware that New Belgium also..." .  Like, on our website we issue warnings for intoxicants that are less strong. Made me laugh.
