Opiophile is a force to be reckoned with ... huge member base.

I MISS OPIOPHILE SO MUCH! I did a search on the forum for more talk about the old community but there's not much here... I get that D&U is a new, different forum - not necessarily an "Opiophile 2.0" - but I'd like to start a thread (maybe even a topic?) to reminisce.

Maybe something with the subject, "Your Favorite Memories/Quotes/etc. from Opiophile"...

the info there definitely kept me alive, i've always been a solo user & figuring out stuff like how to shoot properly might not have gone so well without it.  not that it ended up "going well" for me, but i did live through it.

Go for it Gnossos.

Id contribute and like to read that thread. It may stir up old memories and get good conversation going. If we can refrain from talking about the end and politics of opiophile, cause that's just a good way to bore and alienating to new nonopiophilers. And its been done in other threads.

in 2007, I found a place where I could be free to openly discuss issues, en masse, in the manner that I had been yearning for.

prior to that, I felt isolated and thought I was a freak ... the preoccupation I had with chemicals and syringes had become obsessive.

Opiophile changed all that. The site was vast and professional.

All the good people, the great stories, the solidarity and the wisdom ... all had a profound effect on me.

Since then, the world has moved on. Drugs are always in the news. Everybody is getting high. There are now more sites and almost everything now is available online.

the community has decentralised.

I miss the guys and girls who were right there from the start - ones we don't hear about.

I particularly enjoyed DV8's posts and Jacky's enthobonatical essays.

the site was a class act, for sure

@Z - I'll get right on that, it'd be nice to contribute something helpful, maybe even coherent to this community for a change! ... and I agree 1000% with @LadyKalma  - there are more than e-fucking-nough sites/forums/social clusterfucks/etc. for throwing unsolicited political beliefs down each other's throats. JT Snuffet? I don't seem to recall... I joined Opiophile somewhere between around 2012/13 I think - might've been before my time.

the info there definitely kept me alive, i've always been a solo user & figuring out stuff like how to shoot properly might not have gone so well without it.  not that it ended up "going well" for me, but i did live through it.

I can say with no hesitation that Opiophile's dedication to correcting misinformation, spreading accurate H.R. knowledge by recruiting medical professionals, etc. played a role on MULTIPLE occasions in keeping me living and breathing. Thank you, @candy and to all the admins and staff who kept Opiophile running through thick and thin for all those years!

You took the words right out of my mouth! Never before - and presumably, never again - will anything quite compare to Opiophile. Certainly there was a feeling of acceptance for drug users of all types and stripes...

of course i'm gonna promote this site ... by identifying one key difference - we allow more communication paths to those we wish to befriend. Probably not such a big deal since Facebook is all about that and many members have moved there too but it's still something that we did that was different.

it's easier to make new friends here.

But yep, it ain't no Opiophile ... and never intended to be.I just hope that we find more long lost members to bring back more of that vibe.

this forum has tried to give you the most compressive array of features that any place had to offer.

... but I still miss Ohiophile !

jT duffet is what brought me to the phile.  I was searching for methadone taper and wd info and tumbled across hiss kick ass taper thread.  Then those fucking beautiful fingers of his. I would take a hand like that any day!!

I know there are more communication methods these days and opiophile is not one of the only sources for that kind of information, like it may have been for many of us then. But the format of communication on a forum I feel is so superior to on facebook groups and whatnot. We can actually get to know each other better and form threads that go by slow enough for people to actually read them. And when people are searching for accurate harm reduction information I know that having this forum be a good resource and database for guests who may only be getting one side of the story from other places can help.

So all in all, yes its not opiophile, but I still value forum formats for discussing and archiving conversations and making lasting friendships and feeling less isolated. This forum, opiophile, and a handfull of others have kept me from being isolated in life and have brought me great joy and knowledge.

I'm sure I'm not the only person that doesn't really care it's gone. I got the most important thing/person of my life from that site and I will always be greatful for that but Byron that is Linda whatever. I toss the dick like 40 bucks but it's all gone and that's a cheap payment to know that I can't trust someone. It sucks that people believed a junky with so much money but I hope he will be snore cautious in who he trusts next time.

Jonny spent it on Pokemon memorabilia

My favorite threads were (of course) the angry hornet thread. That was priceless.

Also, the "I just robbed a gas station" thread, that was the stuff of legends.

I'm not sure if it's sadder that it's true that a grown ass man is obsessed with a game my 13 year old outgrew years ago. Or if it's sadder that we gave the turd gobbler money.  You could see the moment when the community said nuh-uh mother fucker.  I would have paid a donation to see the crushed look on his face when he realised he milked the cow too hard.

We did the math on only some of what he got one month and it was in the four digits with what we knew. He milked it till we bled.  Then kept squeezing some more.

He is still on reddit with the oh so cool name of jonntybigtwat.  Bit really but you should know what it is.  Posting like crazy about Pokemon.  Cause that's how the cool kids rollout.

Angry Hornet, Bag Flick and GAs Statin robbery were all great, as well as the saga of that guy who kept hitting washing machines for change  8)

But the one that will always haunt me was Jacky's story of shitting out of his mouth.

Anyone know what happened to that crazy green furry bastard? He was one of the people that welcomed me on my intro thread way back when I first joined.

ALSO ANYONE REMEMBER CHICAGO? NOT A BAD GUY REALLY BUT HE ALWAYS TYPED LIKE THIS, I always pictured him just shouting at his computer, also he always felt the need to talk about his dong being huge haha. He got banned, probably for solicitation, there were quite a few of those, I never really had anything against them but I understood it was to protect the forum from liability. I mean how can I blame someone for trying to score?

Yes, that was me, the washing machine bandit. If I have some time tomorrow I'll tell that tale. What a tale that was. Holy shit I can't believe I actually did that shit.

Another good one of my stories was the time I tried to get robbed for $40 and ended up riding a block halfway hanging out of the window of the robbers car with the passenger pointing a 9mm at my head.

Or the one when I dropped a bag of dope on the ground right in front of the airport scanner, while I had 30 bags up my ass.

Also there was the time I got caught by a narcotics task force with 250 bags of dope, and didn't rat, and yet I didn't get charged. How the fuck that one happened I still don't know.

.....wild stuff for sure, I feel like I could go on all night with this shit.

Do we have a wild stories thread? That would be fun!!!

@gnossos. Thanks for the mention. Means a lot. I remember being asked by billi and Jacky to do harm reduction when I joined back in 2005.

Fucking Pokemon, really????? What a waste.

It was a unique place and is surely missed. Don't miss those big flashing red lips!

I keep hearing about some "secret" group *cough cough* but yet to actually be invited... Perhaps for a reason, I do have an obnoxiously, notoriously loud mouth. :D

All the work you admins do, have done for years and years, and will continue to do for years to come: It's GREATLY appreciated! Can't say that enough! BY NO MEANS do I want to come off sounding ungrateful for the work that's been done or like I don't like the current forum, I just like to add my own ideas/brainstorm, etc.

Hey now, I loved me some Pokemon, back when I was about 13...

I never did quite get much but bits and pieces of the demise of the 'phile, but then I never paid much attention or had an the appreciation I do now for the logistics involved in what went on and goes on behind the scenes. I don't think many of us lurkers/off and on members did until it all went to shit and was too late.

Funny how that happens, "milking a cow too hard". Hopefully he at least learned a lesson? How old was Jonny, any fucking way? I assumed by his douchery that he was a kid, but I guess that's just how he acts...

Haha, this happened to me also. I was in my car with a friend driving it, he was drunk and I was on acid. I passed the breathalyzer and he failed, so they had me drive my car to the station and home.  That was 30 years ago!

lol yea poor Chuck is probably still looking for that bag he flicked. I remember everyone giving him suggestions on where to look and asking just how big his room is haha.

I mentioned the Angry Hornet story not too long ago. Didn't the dude who wrote it and The Hornet eventually become civil with each other and The Hornet stopped knocking over his trashcans?

And then my "Shitty Day" story--When I bitched about the old weirdo I live with who took a dump in the toilet that was left in the back yard cuz it was trash. He crapped in it twice during the winter..

And now all those silly stories are gone. That prick stole not just our/your money but our memories.

Whatevs... There will no doubt be silly memorable stories on here too.
