i could fight this because i know when i am impaired (fatigue, high dose, low tolerance, other drugs etc.) BUT if i am not then i will point to Colorado's IMPAIRMENT policy.

mobile apps and dui's - EXCELLENT thought ... let me ponder that but it still doesn't stop the "tail light is out, swab please, sir !" interaction.

i tried to find a doc. to prescribe Dex. (not Ritalin) and ended up at the Stimulant Abuse Treatment place but they threw me out because i was on Methadone - grrr! GRRR ! don't get me started on that.

if i end up in court then i will plan a solid case and at least have my say ... i also worry about double jeopardy as they ban you for 24 hours and what if that's not enough and i get caught again ?

look, if i am in some way compromised and i get caught then yeah, i'll cop it BUT if am not, i will contest it. it's my duty.

I would wonder at the efficacy of field testing for substances. Reasonable doubt and all that. I don't know the laws in Oz but reasonable doubt can apply in the States.

Awful.Just Awful.

Sorry to hear your privacy is being trampled upon in Australia, Chipper.

That sucks. Totally.

What can people do to curtail that egregious violation of civil rights?

Petition for a referendum on the issue, maybe?

When it comes to mobile apps that tell you about checkpoints or cops being around, check out "WAZE." It's a bad as app that uses user submitted data to crowds our cell locations of police and roadblocks, as well as wrecks, ootholes, and more. It's badass. As somebody with a suspended license and drug user, I use the app whenever I drive. On the way to WI from MS, it alerted me to 9 different speed traps that otherwise would have got me.

I spoke to my drug doc today and said not to worry - he has been acting as a consultant in this field and says that until the testing was quantitative (like alcohol), the tests are not relevant.

he can give me the name of someone to help fight these tests and how best to defend myself, should I get tested.

like driving under the influence of Methadone; it's often quite safe and legal with no impairment.

more needs to be done to make the testing fair.

Even with alcohol your baseline tolerance can rise can't it?  I stopped drinking except for once or twice a year, and even one beer has a qualitative effect.  When I was drinking heavily one beer wasn't even noticeable besides reducing trembles.
