Can you beat a follicle test?
« on: September 02, 2015, 06:54:07 AM »
I scoured the internet and basically either found out its not possible or " you can try this". I thought I could get better input here. Is there a guaranteed way to beat a hair follicle test? Thanks for any input.

I have beaten one it was a few years ago, but I don't believe the testing has changed much. I bought a $65 dollar hair detox kit from my local headshop. I was a few days cleanish but real worried about passing, I used the bottle(s) as directed and dried my hair and drove directly to the testing center. The cut a patch out from the back of my head an wala, done. After a week of waiting results said passed....All the product does is strip your hair proteins, similar to bleach, witch is why they will not test bleached hair. And the shorter your hair the better, but has to be around.75" long, for testing.

Same. Bought one of the hair kits from local shop. Used it, was in a custody battle regarding my daughter so I was really nervous about it. But got results back saying I passed for everything....they went back THREE YEARS.  This was also several years back, but if your in a bind and have everything to lose, might as well roll the dice. Good luck bro

Maybe if you bleach the hell out of it and then shave it clan thenstay clean until the test you could skirt it, I don't know.

They are very inaccurate.

I have known many regular poly drug users that tested negative.

Unfortunately there seems to be no pattern that I could surmise..

Only speaking from my experience with it, but fresh outa highschool i got an office job for Kentucky Medicade. Typical everyday office bullshit dealing with preauthorization numbers for people needing extra eye doctor visits and shit. a hair test was the only form they accepted.  Being in my teenage days still, i had yet to succumb to drug addiction, or any drugs at all for that matter. So i was not worried about the test. Though i wasnt to thrilled after they cut a good 3 inch chunk of my loong beautiful locks off the back of my head (Oh the things we do for a measly 11 dollars an hour) But anyway, talking with some people about the hair test i was told that they can go back 7 years. But that the longer they go back, the more expensive it is for the company, so most places rarely go over a year or two.

That could be completely incorrect, as i have never looked the information up, nor am i going to right now.
It also doesnt help with your question/situtation in the least bit, i just wanted to be apart of the conversation. a bit lonely today  :(

This is the one area of drug testing that there is little credible information on. I would gamble with the shampoo products I guess.

From what I understand, the metabolites are stored in the center of the hair follicle. The lab dissolves the hair in a solution, probably hcl, and then they run a mass spec on the solution. Stripping products really shouldn't have an effect.

Good looking out on the help. The shampoo products seem like about the only option. Although what SWPK said gives me little hope. Ill probably use the shampoo and go in with fingers crossed. Ill post if I either passed or failed.

Listen, I think there is some confusion here, and it may well be mine (and agreeing with SWPK):

Let's look at a normal hair as it sits in the scalp:
-
-

-
-
Now, for DNA testing (to prove paternity, or to match the DNA to a semen sample, say from a rape, etc...), they need the FOLLICLE.  It contains cells, which contain nuclei, which holds your unique DNA sequence.

The follicle doesn't provide information regarding drug use, as far as I know, only DNA in the cells surrounding the hair.  Also, they cannot just CUT the hair with scissors, they have to PLUCK it, to get the cellular material with it (little clump of white stuff at the base).

-----    ------    ------    ------    ------

Now for Drug Testing, they will look at the hair shaft itself as a Time Line of drug use, drugs used and the amount of drug(s) used.  They don't need to pluck the hair, they don't need the follicle, just the hair shaft--so scissors will work.

Assume that hair grows about 1cm per month, and they take a hair that is 12cm long, they could, probably figure-out:
1- What drugs were used,
2- When those drugs were used,
3- How much drugs were used (by measuring the amount of metabolites in the hair shaft).

See the image below--it gives you an idea: almost like a tape recording: if drugs metabolites were found 4cm from the root (follicle) means that drugs were used ~4 months ago (or whatever the growth rate is determined to be).
-
-

As far as I know, those drug metabolites are PART OF the hair itself.  They're aren't just some greasy coating on the hair, like paint on a wall, but part of bricks that make up the wall.

One would have to destroy the hair itself to remove the metabolites.

Again, I could be 100% wrong.  It would be difficult to beat this test, if it is accurate.  Shaving (Nairing) all of the hair off of your body would work, I think--kind of like not having any urine for them to test, you have no hair for them to test.

I was told this is one reason why PoPo keep their hair short--does that make sense?  Maybe if you think about them playing in the evidence locker, or only 75% of a drug seizure getting turned in, it makes sense.

The short hair for police doesn't make sense.
Plenty of people that are bald or shaved headed get hair testes; they just use body hair instead, which provides the same results.
So police would be fucked unless TOTALLY shaven, which is gonna be obvious.
