Title: Vein Care Guide

Hey guys. I just found this incredibly informative website out of Australia on vein care. It is very comprehensive. I know most everyone here is pretty knowledgeable, but it doesn't hurt to review some of this info. Plus, I thought it might be a great resource for anyone coming here looking for harm-reduction information, especially related to IV drug use. You can never have too much knowledge  :D

I hope this link works... Enjoy!

It would be good if this thread was threshed out a little.

Citing sources is fine.

But free, fair, and open debate tends to result in the best harm reduction.

just my opinion.

I'm glad youse guys like it. I've been around a while myself as well, and it was still very informative. And I also would've loved to have this kind of info around way back when I first started.

I cringe when I look back on my younger self :-(

It is a great site. Thanks for posting the link.

I think that as injectors, we always can find new information helpful, and even be reminded of good vein care from info we may already know, but don't use.

Some of the best harm reduction advice I got was from those who had been injecting for many years that I met when I started doing harm reduction myself as a volunteer. Not all were actively using, but still had the best advice for new users. Those who were using still had some great veins and had been using 10+ years.
After the many years that I injected, my veins were almost non-existent. The only veins I had left that I was willing to use were the jugular veins and even after a few years of using those with the best harm reduction care, they just stopped working.

I am now starting to see more and more veins come up since I stopped injecting.
The only problem, I want to inject. My kid does growth hormone injections and I have insulin syringes in the house.
I have to admit I have tried to see if I can hit those veins and just seeing that blood flow into the syringe is like torture.
Not sure why I do that to myself. I guess there are just some habits we never seem to break.
If I had access to dope, it would be very hard to say "no."
