uploaded but not installed due to this statement: Note: Click uninstall to remove the mod from your mod list. But it won't remove the spiders from your database. You'll need to remove each one from your SMF Search Engines/Spider section.

I clicked on this thinking...oh what fresh hell is this...whew...there are few things I fear...and didders aka spiders happen to be my number one...and good grief @chipper you live ( Australia) with the top ten deadliest...everything...

yeah, it's a terribly harsh and dangerous place at times so you gotta watch your step.

spiders used to freak me out but i actually like them, they kill other pests.

saw a red-back (the deadliest, i think) spider but the trick is to not disturb them.

Whch scare you more spiders or snakes?

I read that people often tend to be predisposed to fear one or the other but not both equally and that bias is wired into our DNA.

Me, snaks creep me the fuck out, venemous spiders not so much.

I know that some people who have pet snakes think they have some "connection" with them but I call total BS on that. Those same "pets would eat you if you were smaller and every so oftn som jackass who keeps some monster python in the bathtub gets killed by it or worse a child does.

I also spent a lot of growing up years in Florida outside of town and my grandfaher routinely killed rattlesnakes and coral snakes in the yard and always warned me to be careful, especially near brush piles and logs and such. One time when I was really small a big rattler was in our path to the house and I almost stepped on it. I ran into the house, grandpa came out and killed it with a shovel but I had scratched myself on a thorn bush running inside and they thought I was bit nd were scared as hell for me. I had to tell them a dozen times it was not the snake bite but a thorn scratch.

@DeadCat interesting...I have no fear of snakes...and honestly the spiders have to be of a certain size before I freak...and certain spiders bother me not...(daddy long legs, jumping spiders, little bity ones) and my s/o will scream and run away like a little kid when it comes to snakes...so I remove the snakes and he handles the monster spiders...

I thought this would be a thread about spiders hallucinations - like Chipper was having that pesky meth-induced spiders crawling all over his skin sensation again.

But more to the "subject," I am repulsed by big spiders. Hate 'em. But snakes not at all, as long as they're not venomous. A venomous snake will scare me, but not that primal, hair standing up on the back of your neck kind. More like the same way a vicious dog will scare me - I don't want to get hurt physically. But spiders, oh my GOD I hate them, not the small tiny little cute ones, or daddy longlegs - they don't bother me a bit, but a big hairy wolf spider or a brown recluse or those garden spiders with the big fat butt, UGH!

Can you please explain the computer variety to us techtards, Chipper? I have no idea what you're talking about, "bots" and "spiders," as to how it relates to computer stuff. I'd like to know though.

Can you please?

take google as an example: it's software is an automated process that reads the entire forum by crawling all over it and it indexes all the phrases and keywords for search data ... that's a spider and is fundamental to the Search process.

bots on the other hand can do other nasty things like continuously try to create an account and then spam out posts (spambot).

I have blocked quite a few bots but now I just let them run - they pose no significant load issues.
