How you make money?

When I used to panhandle I found that the best way was to make people laugh.  If you can get them to engage with you and feel interested in you, then you have pretty much won the battle.  More people give money to someone who feels good, and makes them feel good then to someone who is depressed and miserable looking.  I used to have good luck going out by the edge of a city, near a highway, and flying a sign saying "travelling, stuck, and hungry.  Work or any other help accepted.  God bless."  You have to look clean, and sort of like a college kid travelling around for a bit.


I have my theories for why it works.  People would love to travel around a bit, and want to support someone else having an experience they would love to have.  Also it makes them feel like you aren't just some junkie stuck in their beautiful city forever.  I used to make loads of money doing that one with a smile on my face.  I'd pull in $500 in 4 hours some days.  You had to move around to different corners as well.  The money usually drops off at a certain point when you've been in the same spot for more then a week or so.  It worked best for me on a highway off ramp that has a light right there, or at a median at a long light.  Something with enough time to smile and engage with people a bit.


Other standby's included "Out of work pornstar.  Spare change for thongs and a new camera."  or New roll of film etc. Works great with a cute little punk rock girl beside you.  "Kick me for a buck."  "Way too sober.  Spare some drugs?"

But man reading some of these stories kill me in just the rationale we use as addicts.  Like I'm willing to blow $600 without second thought on drugs but I only put $5 in gas because it seems like a waste.  I always blew through my actual cash and would always have to charge simple purchases like gas and food.

I consider my money blood money. So money I hate as a concept. I wish I had enough to give everyone all that they needed and could just spend there time with the ones they loved.

 Yes I know that's easy to say if you have money and you don't need it. But if your money came from life insurance you get to the point. Where you would really rather have ten minutes with them, then that god dam money.
  I recently just had another person die and they left me money. I don't even want to know how much it is but.
I'm going to use it to set up a trust fund for harm reduction. At least for the next year until I have my time to greave.
 When I see people who need help I try my best to help.
That may not be the best thing but if I'm a chump for doing that well I just am.
 Hopefully no one is out there thinking about doing any thing stupid because of money.
Buy a guitar a tuner and learn three cords or one good sing you can make 50 dollars a day busking. And probably 30 a day just standing around with a guitar and hat.
 Be careful what you wish for because if you have enough you will end up in court. At least three times. Might even have friend that think you should pay the to be friends. I have come to the point where this is the last time I will ever talk about money again.

Don't read this post if you are homophobic.

I am always surprised when people in threads like this rarely mention prostitution.  Maybe it's the fact that most of us are guys and saying that you let other dudes blow you for money is frowned upon.  How is that any less humiliating than begging for money or stealing?

I will be the first in this thread to admit that for a good while, I let other dudes blow me.  I made a shitload of money!  I am the type of person who subscribes to Kinsey's sliding scale of sexuality.  I don't think there are many people out there who are 100% straight or 100% gay.  I consider myself mostly straight.  I absolutely love women - but, if I am horny as hell, I have no problem letting a guy blow me.  I don't find men attractive, nor could I ever fall in love with a man.  So, doing the whole prostitution thing wasn't too bad.

This was when I was in my mid-20's.  I had been using for some time, so I had that skinny/gaunt look going on and am a decent-looking guy.  I posted on CL, back when you could do that.  I offered "massage" at 200 per hour.  I usually had 3 appointments a day.  I spent nearly all of that on H.  It was the highest my habit ever was.  After a while, I had regulars who for some reason were obsessed with me.  There was one guy who offered to fly me somewhere on vacation every time he saw me.  I had to turn him down with some made-up answer as he did not know I was addicted to heroin.

The vast majority of guys just wanted to blow me while jerking off.  I never came, which bothered some of them (I never can cum while on opioids).  I only ran into one guy who wanted to fuck me, but I am just not into that, so I turned him down. 

Some of the other ways I've funded my habit; student loans.  I am still kicking myself to this day for this.  I once got a $10,000 private loan which I had applied for while sober.  When the check came, I had relapsed.  I shot nearly 10K in a month and a half.  Fuck.  I used to always have good jobs.  I'd be sober for an extended period of time, then relapse.  So, I always had the job plus money in the bank.  After relapsing, the jobs usually disappeared soon after.  Lastly, I sold everything I owned that I could.  Car audio, computers, video games, cars...the shit we do to avoid getting sick.

Never thought I'd be writing about this but received an offer from an elderly Dr to spend 15-20 mins @ 100 per meeting. He doesn't want sex or to even kiss but to watch me in either lingerie or panties and bra and just massage.
The total irony is that he is a pain mgmt doc (he has no idea I go to pain mgmt or a patient).
3 meetings a week $1200 could really save my ass.

We spoke for quite a while tonight and he sounds more nervous than I am (which is a lot).

I haven't made up my mind yet, but when I think about near missing my rent every month and getting booted out, it makes it hard to resist.

Being a male I'm not sure if I really have the right for an opinion here.

If I'm putting myself in your shoes with just the info provided, I'd most likely do it.

He has more to lose then you IMO, so you most likely won't get caught unless you tell. That's good money and an old nervous doctor wanting just that (I know that's still not as easy thing to do) might sound worth it to me if you've exhausted all your other recourses of income.

Provided he's trustworthy, not too much a a creep and you can assure your safe that is.

There's still more variables and ultimately it's all on you and whether or not you can remain your sanity by doing it. I wouldn't hold anything against you or judge as I and many others have done a lot worse.

Opi-ette, I would totally do it. Sounds pretty harmless and $1200 a month is a significant financial incentive. But, even though there isn't any sex involved I would still probably take some of the same precautions that escorts take. Specifically, letting a trusted person know exactly where you will be, and when you should be done. That way, if you aren't back when you are supposed to be they can call to check that everything is OK.
