well, i tried it on my dev. mirrored system and it is unworkable.

the windows in the portal are all in one continuous page including the top, the sides, the middle etc.

def. NOT good for mobiles.

The mobile world is ran by assholes. Responsive shit is supposed to be kind of a cure all, but its not even close. Responsive shit that works great on an iPhone might look like Courtney love on a windows phone. It's pretty god damn annoying but whatayagonado.

It'seems a pity to me but I am quite happy with seeing the full site on my S3 Chrome and Opera browsers.

is there a compelling reason to change, I ask ?

Yeah, that's why I said that we might have to declutter the main page.  Personally I have all of the extras you added closed, and find them more irritating then useful.  You would have to go in and choose what displays on what size.  You can't just install it and move on.  It would have to be adjusted.

I'm curious how many people actually use them.

Is there a way to add a theme picker and install a mobile theme?  The full page is nice and all, but it takes up a lot of bandwidth if I'm just focussing on the posts.  It could be optional.

I guess you could call that a curve.  I didn't know they made innie curves like that.

There is an explanation here on making the portal responsive: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=538932.0

Apparently SMF 2.1x is responsive automatically?

This is an example of responsive design: http://portamx.com/
Look at it on a mobile, and then click the drop down "request desktop site" to see the full page.  As a side note it is a portal hiding management tool it looks like.  Don't know if it's free.

Whats an " innie curve " though? Like my dick so small its inside of my stomach and hence cant be curved because its inside my insides? Im not doctor but it can still be curved. As a matter of fact it is. Took xray other day.

Z, I prefer to see the full site so I'm not keen to implement the mod you found.

we could wait for 2.1 but I have too many mods on so I'm sticking to V 2.0.11.

I also like to review the stats and frames in the portal but I will keep this in mind.

sorry about not implementing it at this stage ... it may be more trouble and I'm happy that at least we have a predictable and stable site.

I'd have to lose the portal and I think that it is appealing the way it is but I could be wrong.

I wonder what percentage of users are not happy with their mobile use of the forum ?

I do like the idea though ... I hope you don't mind if I leave it as it is for now but I promise to look into this further.

here is a site designed for this: http://genxcommunity.com/index.php

Portamx replaces the simple portal mod you have.  It shows the full portal on desktop, but can remove some of the options or bypass it entirely when it detects mobile.  Sort of a way to do both.

It's your forum chipper.  Do it how you want and it's fine with me.

I think that portals are something you either like or don't like.  It's one of those individual things.  Some people like widgets everywhere, and some people are bothered by desktop icons.  Personal choice really.
