Day One w/o methadone
« on: June 27, 2016, 03:09:42 AM »
OK. So, today was my first day not dosing. I had originally planned to have Sunday be my final dose, but thanks to some of the knowledgeable folks here I thought long and hard about it & decided I wasn't willing to risk the possibility of PWD when I start my subutex induction on Thursday morning. I have taken some Roxicodone a couple of times today, but have felt fine because the first day off of methadone is never a big deal for me. I do have a couple of questions about the next few days though. First, and I know this is probably a really stupid question, but lope is fine to take up until I start the bupe right? I don't mean in crazy amounts, just like regular 4mg or so doses. It won't have any effect on whether or not I have PWD correct?
Also, as far as comfort meds/etc. I've got plenty of oxy, but will only take it until Tuesday. Then for those last couple of days I've got ibuprofen, promethazine, loperamide, a shit ton of lorazepam and... That is about it. Well, unless you count the huge bag of candy I have stashed lol. I have some clonidine too, but I'm a little nervous about it because my BP tends to drop during w/d generally. I'll probably just skip it. I'm thinking that should get me through the worst of those couple of days. I've heard of different supplements being helpful for the RLS and aches, but am not 100% sure which ones. Maybe potassium and/or magnesium, and I seem to remember something about monster doses of vitamin C. Any advice as far as that stuff goes?

Sounds like you've got it under control right now. AFAIK, lope is o.k. but it might have some sort of Precip. Diarrhea effect when you start bupe. (haha precip. diarrhea).

Lorazepam will be your best friend in the next few days.

And oh yeah, I once read an article published by some Iranian researchers about how ascorbic acid (Vit. C) attenuated opiate withdrawal in hamsters. They were giving mega doses of the stuff to the little furry guys in the form of sodium ascorbate.

@Dopeless Hopefiend, I've been on subs a number of times. I would advise caution with the lope. I know that high doses of loperamide and subs is a bad idea, so I'd be careful with even the low doses. Hopefully you will get some other opinions, but I just wanted to say that it is a possibility that lope/subs is a bad combo in any amount. I've never used high doses to maintain on, and it sounds like that isn't your plan, anyway, but I think I'd be careful with any loperamide within 24-36 hrs of starting the subs. Hopefully others will chime in, but that seems like a possible "red flag" to me. Good luck. I hope the transition is a painless as possible.

I wouldn't sweat low doses of lope, 4mg or thereabouts wouldn't be enough to effect ur my receptors in ur brain enough. However if ur taking the lope for diaherria I'd just take a different Otc med and not risk it at all taking lope. If ur taking the lope to get well, take Oxy instead

@dizzle, not to get well, just thinking about it to treat the inevitable diarrhea that will come. I'm pretty sure kaopectate is an otc med for diarrhea that isn't loperamide. I'll have to check though. I think you & @Catsfordrugs are probably right, I'd be better off not risking it. It'd really suck to end up with PWD for something that didn't even get me loaded lol.
@Zoops smh thinking about the dopesick hamsters in that clinical study. Poor little fuckers.
