Drug bust: WA Police seize 21kg methamphetamine in Karrinyup, five people charged

FEDERAL and WA Police have seized more than 20kg of methamphetamine and arrested five people following a joint operation in Perth on Sunday night.

It's the biggest seizure of methamphetamine in WA this year — the seized drugs have an estimated street value of $21 million.

WA National Anti-Gangs Squad officers and WA Police Gang Crime Squad detectives arrested the four men and a woman on Sunday after they observed what appeared to be a drug deal in Karrinyup.

Police stopped three people travelling in two vehicles soon after.

Approximately 11kg of methamphetamine and $97,000 cash was found in the two cars.

Search warrants were then executed at a Karrinyup caravan park where another 10kg of the drug was seized.

The five people charged are a 50-year-old Stirling man, a 25-year-old NSW man, two Queensland men both aged 43 and a 31-year-old NSW woman.

Police are investigating what links, if any, the five have to outlaw motorcycle gangs.

But its understood at least one of them has strong links to the Comancheros bikie gang.

WA Police State Crime Commander Pryce Scanlan said the seizure was a huge win for the community and police.
