UP in the humid tropics, near the coast and at the top of my state, i got to know some isolated but cool people.
One story that has stayed with me was that when the storms rolled in, a few aging "alternate types" (hippies) from up in the hinterland (hills) would pack up their surfboards (after dosing on the fabled "P. purple crystals" [unconfirmed]) and then head down to the beach(es) for a good ol' time.
I came to visit this area occasionally as it truly is magical due to the very fertile soil and muggy climate.
I quickly learned to spot the areas two main types and how to make a tasty mushroom omelette (with soy sauce).
The friend that introduced me to the mushrooms that are native to the area and that grow in the 'cow patties' insisted that one must tap the mushies so that the spores will be released for the next crop (wise man).
My old one-legged (bike accident) hippy ex-biker buddy cleared it with his neighbors and i was allowed to scour and roam for "mushies" providing i cooked it too.
The thing is - i can't cook BUT this, now this was my type of food and my own recipe :)

CONSIDER THIS: the psychedelic experience is a very sacred thing, but somehow it has been tainted by trying to purify it. Perhaps it is best as nature made it. Perhaps we should leave it that way, or perhaps we just need to investigate it more carefully.
