Hells no im not headed there...

I'm in Cambodia now then to thailand then to Hong Kong.  All are methadone friendly.

Regarding this drug war or killing of users.

I spoke to a women living in Laos who is from the Philippines and has family that are drug addicts. Basically the western media is not tell in the whole story. (surprise!) she said it's not addicts gettin killed its gangsters killing gangsters. And the government is not doing shit about it because it's criminals killing criminals.

I was told the standard everyday addicts aren't getting fucked with and that they didn't even get locked up when they turned themselves in. They just got out on a list and were given labor and Zumba classes to try to occupy their time instead of using drugs.

Idk how true it all is but the bottom line is if they are legit killing addicts I'm disgusted. Even allowing the killing of gangsters isn't ok in my book but I can see it more than addicts for sure

Rodrigo Duterte is taking the Philippines on a spiral. Human Rights Watch doesn't begin investigating countries for no reason. I've been reading about this since the beginning of this year when Duterte was running for office. He used to be mayor of a Davao that while he was mayor of the city saw extrajudicial killings spike. It's no surprise to anyone watching this that this is now happening nationwide.

For what it's worth his craziness isn't limited to drug laws. He called President Obama a son of a bitch on the eve of the last ASEAN summit. He's realigning the county to China that those in the Philippine military and diplomatic establishment think is absolutely insane. They have legitimate concerns on China that he just disregards. The US uses four airbases we share with the Philippine air force to move personal around the world and he wants us to leave. Now I have no idea if that will happen but Cuba has been asking us to leave Guantanamo bay for 60 years and we just smile.

He also offered to have sex with every newlywed bride as a wedding gift. "Men don't get anything, only for the women".

Where are the good old days of the CIA when you need them!

https://www.hrw.org/news/2016/09/16/philippines-independent-investigation-duterte-needed

And this was this morning -- US halts sale of 26,000 assault rifles to Philippines police amid human rights concerns

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/nov/01/us-halts-sale-of-26000-assault-rifles-to-philippines-police-amid-human-rights-concerns

Edit -- He also said during his presidential run that Viagra is one of the greatest things on Earth and that he has two girlfriends. Now... If you need Viagra, maybe you don't need two girlfriends. Just a thought.

There's actually another thread about this with some more information if you want to check it out. I tried searching for it and wasn't able to find it, but luckily I posted in it, so I was able to look at my post history to find the thread again.

OP check out the other thread, I posted a video from John Oliver, he actually did a segment on that countries president, calling him The Trump of the East.

that dude is a fuckin loon...still, death squads in the 3rd world from the reactionary right wing is not uncommon, 'cleaning up the streets', the homeless, street kids, junkies, petty crooks, political opponents, basically anyone they dont like the look of...a lot of them play both sides of the street, being webbed up in drug dealing and protection themselves...

duterte has form for this kind of nutcase behaviour by all accounts, when he was a provincial mayor he was known for being allied with the local death squads...sickening but not really surprising...

ps sorry jega, i see you mentioned about his behaviour while mayor of davao, this is what happens when you skim read posts...

pps i always fancied going the philippines before this fuckin fruit and nutcase got into power, although having said that the poor bastards have never been what youd call lucky with their government, the marcoses spring instantly to mind...

wandering off topic a bit the landlord at one of my old locals was a filipino geezer, a lovely fella, boss sense of humour, always smiling but not to be fucked with, i seen him do a very intimidating impromptu display with a pair of nunchucks after a drunken dickhead came in the pub and started whirling them about, he was relieved of them instantly, shown the error of his ways and sent off with a flea in his ear...it was an object lesson to some of the other aggro dickheads in there as well...

after a bit of a natter he let on he had been a champion eskrima fighter when hed been a copper in manila, you would have never guessed, he was about 5'6" tall, quite stubby, friendly looking and like i said always smiling, shows that you should never judge a book by its cover...i wonder what happened to him, he didnt drink smoke or take drugs, but he was a mad gambler, in the casinos in town where they had pai gow and mah johngg (?!) tables...

those images are tragic !

i'd like it if he (Duterte) was covertly fed stimulants and opiates (so he didn't notice the opiate buzz) for a month or more (until he got a habit) and then hit him with Naloxone, whilst telling him that opiates will fix him right up and all he has to do is score !

i like this idea because i'm sure that most of us had no clear or realistic idea of what a habit really was, not to mention it's evolving and ever worsening impact on us.

i wonder what his addiction is ? everybody has one ... i wonder if they drink alcohol or coffee and smoke cigarettes there ? they are drugs, too and their legality is just a state of mind or a sign of the times.

... btw, i'm listening to the podcast which is mentioned right at the end.

I'm just copying part of the article, here is the link for anyone who wants to read the whole thing. I have no words for "president elect" praising the drug war. I can't with this psychopath.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/dec/03/philippines-rodrigo-duterte-donald-trump-white-house-invite

"When Trump won the US election in November, Duterte heralded his victory, and Trump told Duterte that he was pursuing the Philippines' bloody drug war "the right way," Duterte has said."

This is a great article about a possible Armed Clash in the South China Sea by the Council on Foreign Relations for anyone who is interested on some background that mostly avoids the political process.

http://www.cfr.org/asia-and-pacific/armed-clash-south-china-sea/p27883

"When Trump won the US election in November, Duterte heralded his victory, and Trump told Duterte that he was pursuing the Philippines' bloody drug war "the right way," Duterte has said."

^^Yeah I heard about that. I'm just going to mention again that I'm budgeting my rage. It's going to be a long 4 years.

The extremely long standing treaty obligations the US has with the Philippines makes this situation even more complicated. The Philippines became a US colony in 1898 after we won them in the Spanish American war, and we have had a mutual defense treaty with them for as long as I can imagine. In 2011 Hillary Clinton (I know she's not going to be President) reaffirmed out commitment to the mutual defense treaty we have with the Philippines even including Philippine claims to Islands in the South China Sea, and in 2012 John Kerry (When he still lead the Foreign Relations Committee) passed a bill essentially reaffirming that in congress. This was all before the huge military buildup creating islands with resupply depots and airstrips, but after the construction of the Chinese navel base in Hainan.

The United States sees freedom of movement in the South China See as vital to our natural interests. It's vital to our allys as much as it is to us. A big part of the world’s energy resources. It's not just energy, it's commerce of all kinds. The approximately 50,000 vessels passing annually carry between one-fifth and one-quarter of the world's sea trade through the Strait of Malacca.

This is a big problem. And China is in a position to bargain for either the South China Sea (and possibly the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea) or North Korea (who already had the mining done for when they test their nukes four or five months ago (I haven't looked at the sat photos in the bit). Everyone's been waiting for them to do what ever they are going to do. Every claim for every nuclear test they ever had has been a lie although I'll admit it looks like the Primary went off but it didn't compress the Secondary on their last test, so no North Korea, you did not detonate a "Hydrogen Bomb."

This is a big problem for the United States and nothing but a win-win for China.

I have been to the Philippines about half a dozen times while in the navy and it was fucking awesome.Debauchery at that level can't really happen as it did twenty something years ago. It breaks my heart to see that country go into the shitter like it has.

That guy who is running the country is a strait fucking wack job. I do some on line gaming (diablo3 and WoW) and I have two friends that live there. What I hear is that the majority of the issues are in the poverty stricken and crime ridden areas with people of means and money not really being effected. One of my friends only hears of it on the news and doesn't know anyone personally who has been arrested or murdered.

The other guy though, and I do not in any way mean any disrespect, him and his family sort garbage to get by. They do ok he says but it is fucking dangerous now where he lives and the go out in large groups. Like five or six entire house holds get together to go out in public. They don't have the means to own fire arms so they carry machetes.

Now I don't know what kind of completely fucked world we live in but it is heart breaking when you have to get twenty people together to go sort garbage so you can eat that day and feed your family. Nightmare fuel......

Ill edit this post in a bit with a link to the article, but I read that duterretete or whatever {phillipine leader dude} said that he is going to go after criminal defense attorneys that defend drug users/dealers next as they are just as guilty as their clients. SCARY shit.

TBH, it's a sentiment that I could see flying in the united states. For years, I've read the comment sections of news articles and shit which would be totally flooded with shit like "we need to just line these degenerate scum up and shoot them." I'm not saying it would realistically happen here anytime soon, but I could see it possibly happening here.

@Tainted I am of the belief that President elect Trump is without a doubt a POPULIST. By that I simply mean that whatever why the general public leans, then so too will be. I have a feeling that he will exude more power in Congress than any former prez ask hopefully we wi never see anything close to that happening in the next four yrs....

Let's all hope,  Fargin  Droog  Addicts!!!  🤔

holy shit, this fucking crap rages on........

this article is talking about how duerte now wants to lower the age of regular criminals to 9, just 9 fucking years old.

so essentially, he'll give his cops and random vigilantes the ability to shoot little kids, if they're suspected of being a criminal.

wow, just fucking wow. I hope the goddamn NATO troops storm his little house in Davao and arrest him for international laws against humanity.

sick fucker.

The sad fact is the international community won't get involved-to be blunt the Philippines are a key strategic ally in both the efforts to control Chinese expansion and combating Islamic terrorism. So,the UN,EU,GB et al won't interfere. They'll pass the mass murder of the vulnerable off as a matter of internal Filipino policy.

The only people who can stop this obscenity are the Filipinos themselves.
