Title: Premium headphone game
Post by: Taytoechip on February 14, 2016, 09:27:31 PM
By no means am i a music snob. However i am a total headphone snob.

Its no secret, For every person who loves beats by dre, there is another who hates everything about them.  Until today, i was the latter. Like most, I thought that the expensive price tags were farrr higher than that of the sound quality. That overwhelming bass that drowns everything else was fucking disgusting to me. You know what i'm talking about.
Fast forward to today, my lovely woman surprised me with a pair of the redesigned over ear studios. (shes the shit, I keep telling people so but they keep forgetting)
I now humbly come to you and honestly say that these are the best headphones i have ever had the privilege of draping over my unusually large cranium region. No question. Every aspect about them has been completely redone since the first studios. From appearance, comfort and most importantly the sound. The only thing they share is the namesake.
Just ridiculous.

So if you're in the same boat that i was, definitely give them another chance.

Oh, and some places have dropped the price from $300 to $200, so thats cool too.

What are your go-to headphones?

I have a pair of Bose in the ear earphones. I wanted the in the ear sort because I needed something I could carry in my pocket. I think they were around $85 or so, I don't remember for sure. But they sound fantastic and they are very comfortable. I'm on my second pair, my first pair lasted about 3.5 years of daily use, but then one broke inside and kept rattling (ha, like me!) the folks at the Bose store took the old ones back and knocked about a third of the price of the new ones. They really sound awesome!

no headphones but I do have some cool DJ gear outputting to a 400+400 watt PA system in my bedroom.

all I need is a laser system and some intelligent lighting so I can charge admission ;)

but those headphones look sweet.

nice.

Sometimes I save the headphones I get for free on a long flight... they say "delta".

Chipper, hell yes on the laser system! I have 2 neon beer signs from yard sales, and some cool trippy multicolored changing lights from the thrift store. Cool lights are a must in the crib!

I have a pair of 14 dollar joints from Wal Mart, and Christmas lights in my apartment. They are the super-awesome kind that have electronically controlled settings for different types of blinking. Yeah, that's right. So SUCK IT!

Look upon my awesome headphones and weep, ye bastards!

I'll tell ya, I have a pair of Bose Over the Ear AE2 headphones and I love them. I got (actually 2) sets of Triport headphones more than a decade ago and every couple years they keep replacing them. Amazing customer service and I love Bose headphones because the base is so clear.

Bose have a solid history of providing high tech audio speakers using their own sophisticated configurations.

known to be pricey, though.

for my domestic audio, I use floor standing Dali speakers and mounted Tannoys to complete my system.

as you can see, I'm serious about my audio.

the only issues is see with headphones is the temptation to have them too loud and that they distract the wearer who may need to hear important things, such as pedestrians do.

but they do have a time and place.

I'm interested in the Pioneer brand and their DJ headphones but they are also quite expensive.

The pubic library down the street from me sells some sweet monophonic earbuds for $1.00. I want to buy some just to see the made-in-a-Chinese-sweatshop-by-political-prisoners quality!

But what I really really need is a woman with enough bread to drop $300 on a pair damn headphones for me! Lucky duck, you @Taytoechip!

I found out recently that Fanta was Nazi Germany's answer to Coca-Cola when they stopped shipping it over there during the war.

Just Google "Nazi Fanta" and you'll see.

This isn't something all that important to me but it's kind of funny.  In a too recent benzo analog haze I went to a  [retail store], opend a box of very nice Philips close-back, over-the-ear headphones, put them on and walked right out the front door. Another good reason to use those drugs with caution.Benzo stupidity.  I would really hate to get arrested for something like that.

TBH, I'm really glad, deeply relieved that I never hurt anyone driving after taking them, something I do NOT do now.

I don't know what they would have cost, similar pairs on the internet are about $25-$30, some are more. Thse are comfortable and work just fine.

For running I wear Yurbuds Focus 100 ear buds that have a soft ergonomic funnel that puts the sound close to  the inner ear and adjustable over-the-ear clips to keep them firmly but gently in place. They even offer to exchange the ones you bought for custom size funnels if you send them a couple of photos of your ears. They were just under $20 if I recall correctly. Those I paid for.

I have heard stories of people that commit robberies with no memory what happened and with a pile of stolen goods around them when they "wake up" but I never believed them.

... but after reading DeadCat's post, I may be wrong.

it looks like people can easily commit crimes in a benzo/z-drug/barbiturate blackout.

does it mean they are latent theives ? I don't know but it's yet another reason to avoid overdosing on these drugs, in my book anyway.

It's best to have a friend with you if you intend to take them in amounts beyond what you're scripted for.

I once moved all the furniture in my house into one room, with a really bad back mind you, with no memory of it or reason why (I only took 4 but somehow managed the whole box).

scary.

Yeah I never get the super kelpto powers on benzos... I think, because they lower inhibitions, they make people who tend to steal do it more often. Or something like that... Ive never been a good thief but I've heard quite a bit about people getting on benzos and just starting to grab things.

When I was a teenager ( and dinasours roamed the Earth) I was a pothead and a shoplifting fiend. I only got caught once but given a break. I didn't need any of the shit I was taking, it was just a thrill. Now, sober it never crosses my concious mind. But a few benzos and it can seem like the most natural choice in the world. Yes, I find this disturbing.

I can't really see benzos as a drug of choice. Besides some stress relief nothing good reallly comes from them in my experience.

I know, right! When you're off of benzos, it's like, wtf was I doing? I kinda like it when I don't remember... I say the stupidest stuff on benzos. However, whenever you're on them, you are the shit! It just feels so right while you're on them and kinda embarrassing when you sober up and think about it.

Plus, I've never gotten into so many fender benders until I started doing benzos. I've done quite a few hit and runs in the parking lot... I suck at backing up this long bed truck I have once I get a couple sticks in me.

And I know I know, I shouldn't do drugs and drive... tell my barred out self, I'm sure he'll listen.

I don't listen to music much anymore. At least not regularly. So I don't really "need" headphones.

That being said, I'd love a really good pair of over ear headphones, such as those Beats Studio. Or maybe a pair of the Beats Pro.

If I were to spend a lot of money on them, I'd probably get some type of high quality, wireless headphones. Beats or otherwise.

The only headphones I have now are a simple pair of Apple EarPods with remote and mic. I've not even used them yet.

I love it when a thread mutates like this - from discussion of headphone choices, to benzos and shoplifting/other dumb stuff people do under their influence.

I don't have to be under the spell of a benzodiazepine drug in order to steal something out of a store. I'll do it at the slightest provocation. Most notably and recently, that "provocation" has been the alcoholic obsession to drink. Last Summer, and most of the ophile members on here remember, I had a thread with about 300-some replies on it titled "the joys of shoplifting and panhandling" where I talked and bragged about my successes with both pursuits.

Man, I shoplifted probably about $120-150 (I reckon) worth of 211 Steel Reserve beer from Safeway, and a little bit from 7-11, last Summer. And about $40-50 worth of food from Safeway too, all over the course of about 3 months. Because I was broke, as in NO money, zero, $0.00, nada, and wanting a buzz of some sort, and hungry also.

I would go in with a backpack, make a beeline straight to the beer aisle, open up the bag, put two 40-ouncers into the bag, zip it up, sling it over my shoulder, then walk straight back out of the store. I'd stop at the pre-prepared meals cooler which was on the way out, and grab a couple pasta carbonaras too, many of those times. Never got caught but once, but that was at Shoppers Food Warehouse, when the manager saw me put the beer in my bag, made open it up and take it back out. He let me go with a warning never to come back in his store after I apologized profusely.

It was incredibly stupid, but at the time, I was under the delusion that since I hadn't gotten caught yet, that I wouldn't get caught. That has gotten me into trouble more times than I care to admit.

@Zoops, theft is never a good idea at any time.

benzos (and alcohol etc.) have many stupid side-effects, so i'm not drinking hardly at all, nor am i taking benzos (the odd Valium once in a while).

i'm glad that you have come to your senses, that will make life easier. i recommend staying shy of crime.

@Zoops I'm going to second the benzos and alcohol is a bad idea. Benzos and almost anything else is a bad idea.

It's pretty hard to kill yourself on JUST Benzos. It's pretty easy to kill yourself on a combination of benzos and anything else!
