I know we don't have many Canada peeps
Or many members that were alive then
But with your new prime minister.
You guys might want to
Look at what went on in Canada
Montreal to be exact.
And why they speak French there.
And what a liberal is capable of.
I only think of this because I come from one of the only French speaking towns in the US.
It's just a subject that interest me.
Not about drugs but about civil liberty's and what can happen.
Even when you think you have the most progressive liberal thinker in office.

I assume you are talking about the kidnapping of Laporte by separatists, his subsequent murder, and the enacting of the war measures act while they were looking for him.  It has been admitted many times that it was an over reaction, and I can think of dozens of examples that were worse abuses.  Off the top of my head how about Boston in the aftermath of the "bombing?"

There was good that came from it.  It was a catalyst for discussion, led to the quiet revolution, and has helped to define French politics here in Quebec strangely enough.

People speak French here because it was originally settled by France.  Canada used to be divided onto upper and lower, English and French.  Wars were fought.

Maybe I'm missing the point.  What do you mean?

Je ne savais pas que vous parler français.  C'est fun d'avoir plus de monde ici qui le parle.  Or do your just live in a french town?

Want his son just elected your new pm
That's what made me think of it.
And I am well aware of worse abuse
The Boston bombings
Come to mind.?
Shit just the patriot act
I'm of some Cajun descent.
So we're just the French Canadian
Who kept walking south.

And since Katrina
I live really close to Canada
Funny thing
More people have MY last name up.here
Then in my home town
And Cajun is real dirty French
They call it French but it's not proper French.
So I understand it
But I probably speak it
Like I type

Really dirty french.  I had a cajun girl teach me some once.  It was a funny night.

Sorry for the questionable source, but the content is accurate.  Watertown lockdown after the Boston bombings: http://socialistworker.org/2014/04/18/martial-law-in-watertown

If people are curious what the quiet revolution was, its on Wikipedia.  Trudeau is just another Muppet.  He talks big, but he will get mired in sponsorship scandals, pro corporate bullshit like our Canadian liberal party is famous for.  He is a consummate politician.  Born and bred to it in fact.  Still, much better then Stephen Harper I hope.

I am hopeful to see if he actually does fully legalize marijuana like he talked about.

Oh I wasn't saying what happened
In Boston was questionable
It's just the after affects
Of the patriot act
Had that not Been passed
I don't think they would have got away with washy they did in Boston
And my point is this tiny loss of liberty
Brought about big changes.
