Mouthful of Cavities - Blind Melon
Its one of my favorite songs that kinda deals with addiction, Jena Kraus sings on it with them and right before they recorded it Blind Melons singer Shannon Hoon came out with a needle and Jena Kraus freaked out at him because one of her parents died of an overdose. Shannon Hoon died right before that album soup came out. Another good song by them is Skinned It's about serial killer Ed Gein who is the person that Buffalo Bill in silence of the lambs is based off. He used peoples skin and bones as pieces of furnitures like skin for a lamp shade or a coffee table made of bones. The song is funny in a dark way, Blind Melon is one of my favorite bands to bad the singer died of an overdose shortly after his daughter was born.

Yeah, I like her. Plus I love Karen O. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are great.

Melanie Martinez - Sippy Cup
DoD told me about her recently. At first I thought Martinez was gonna be like Christina Aguilera, which instantly put me off her. But she's not. DoD just wanted me to check her out b/c she said Christina was jealous of her. Anyway, I like it b/c it's pop with a darker tinge. That's why I like Gaga. Her stuff is pop, but with a darker side. I don't like that Christina / Brittney bubblegum stuff.

One of my favorites from Mr. Waits. Hits a little close to home, which is part of the fun.
-
No one should be this beautiful. Also I like the acoustic played on the X better.

Brian Jonestown Massacre - Anemone
Nice bluesy rock tune, slow, forceful, melodic and stoned.

One of my favorites from Mr. Waits. Hits a little close to home, which is part of the fun.
years ago, my friends did the fold-back mix for Tom. I sort of met him but he was busy rehearsing with the sound check going on too.

Every one of his songs sounds like something else I've heard before, but I can never put my finger on it.
Brian Jonestown Massacre - Just for Today
A nice melancholy groove for a cloudy dope-free day (at least so far)...

Search and Destroy - by Iggy Pop (Sid Vicious performing it)
Chinese Rocks - by The Ramones (Sid Vicious performing again - don't know why the egregiously anti gay statement he makes at the beginning is quite necessary).

Holy shit a COIL fan!
I'm not familiar with this track and haven't listened to it yet, but I will. Some of their more experimental stuff doesn't do much for me, but 'Horse Rotorvator" is IMO an absolute masterpiece. Jhon Balance was one hell of an artist. RIP to one of the most influential musicians Industrial has seen :(
I'm still on too much methadone to really feel music atm, but I'm getting there..
-
How y'all like deez nutz?????

BIG UP Nark; I saw you posted Ladytron, so I thought you'd like Chromatics - Lady and posted it with you in mind.
Now presentin, A very under-rated and under-listened bass track from the incredible, un-diluted-undisputed king of heavyweight electro
-
Now for some good old school country with a "flavour" of rock n roll, the incredible and massively influential and very VERY SEXY Mr. Gram Parsons + (the worst fucking band name ever) The Flying Burrito Brothers

Nark you'd like this track too if you haven't heard it before
NOW BACK TO ELECTRO WITH THE Incredible
Simian Mobile Disco!

This track right here goes out to my gurl St. Ti. Ti. and the failure of mine to drive to Queens and blunt ride on tha BQE
I usually hate the "80s revivalist people", but overall this is a very solid track

How bout this one for size, Chipper?
A bona fide DC rave anthem.from about 22 years ago!

Radiohead - High and Dry
Just like I feel right now - as in completely not under the influence of any mind-altering chemicals. Really makes me feel like shit. I wish I was famous. I wish it was the 60's. I wish I hadn't fucked up my life so bad.
-
Country down by beck.
Probably my favorite musical artist along with James Taylor.
-
Sexy Boy - Air
Yo Nark are we starting our future bass/electro parties today or tommorow?
-
Beastie Boyz - Root Down
How ya gonna kick it?
Gonna kick it root down!
And ahem, you all know that "root" is like ghetto slang for a dick right?
In light of that the song lyrics don't make a whole lot of sense but it's cool for sure.

Zoops I used to be really into BJM and then I digged backwards a bit and realized that if Anton Newcombe would stop self-aggrandizing for a minute, he'd realize that the whole premise of BJM is doomed to be un-original by the very nature/foundation of their ascetic. Not that there is anything wrong with that; it just IS. Full BJM albums get tedious, but they have great tracks like Anenome and THank God for Mental Illness is a fucking A+ A+ A+ ALBUM.
Love did it better, you fuck with Love Zoops?
This is one of their worst songs.
One of their better Songs
I can't listen to this track because it makes me FIEND like shit. This song would come on at 7am really fucking loud after the morning score was done with and a speedball was being prepped.
-
/\ Love that album.
I love it too and Deftones in general! Seen them live numerous times. Nark, I love Air I saw them live in NYC was AMAZING I was also tripping recently to Moon Safari, great album to come up to. 8)

Haha after I got shot I scored dope and put on "Another One bites the dust" no lie. It got me back on a little queen kick for a bit. Queen all around was a ridiculous group. So much more versatile than some Led Zeppelin ass bullshit. Another Stadium than their contemporaries; I guess Led Zeppelin isn't a fair comparison. But when looking at Glam, yeah they were ahead lightyears ahead of their contemporaries. Bowie's glam era shit was just too art fuck. And then they both tackle dance music with Lets Dance and The Game respectively, and IMO The Game knocks it out of the water even though SRV was the saving grace of Let's Dance. I mean, the title track is straight retarded, Let's dance and this is coming from a Bowie fan!
God this track just encapsulates the Badlands for me, and it's not like I don't listen to whatever music they listen to. .. . . But it's just so good. Cause trap and reggaeton can be too loud and the real killers move in quiet, and I think you get the feel of a slick sophisticated gangster coming through in Another One bites the dust Perfectly. Or I'm just delusional IDK.

Yeah Love is cool and everything, and I've known about them for years, but BJM came out in the 90's A. Newcombe is one of the most prolific artists out these days, period. He's a tortured genius, dope fiend, and is 100% LOCO. And I fucking love the fake British accent when he's singing. He and I would no doubt not get along IRL.
With that, I'll leave you with another one of BJM's 60's-sounding tunes, If love is the drug, then I want to OD (studio version):

I think "A Message to Pretty" is better than that other song by them that you posted up.

Love it when he goes "Oooowww" at the end of the break. That song came on the radio once when I was in prison and it brought a genuine smile to my face listening to that ridiculously exaggerated enthusiasm. It's always been my song since then (like five years and some change). Liked it as a kid listening to it on my parent's stereo too. They had the vinyl of that record.

Heart of Gold - Neil Young
Hey anyone ever seen this movie - "Iceman?" There's a scene in there that's absolutely priceless. Where Dr. Shepherd sings "Heart of Gold" and the caveman discovers music for the first time...
Please watch it and tell me what you think. The actor that played the caveman in this movie was brilliant.

I think "A Message to Pretty" is better than that other song by them that you posted up.
I like BJM they're good and shit, but I'm just sayin, like that song is good aesthetically pleasing to my ears. But, it lacks a true spiritual dimension in my opinion. They are trying to replicate something as complex as love by making an analogy to something like drugs. Love is such a broad spectrum type of feeling. That real shit is like wow pow wham bham thnk you maam. It needs a spiritual dimension that to me isn't pronounced as well as it should be if people theoretically were coppin something like true love.
the music is incredibly important to the spiritual experience, and you can't have it without the breaks so just stop listening to me right now. But seriously fool this is DC area breaks man in one way or another are big here; mostly the funk kind drop on the 1 at like "slower" tempos but they're still breaks. You know what I'm saying, breaks like that used to be played in church and shit. Sound is warfare, spiritual warfare, and until the BJM harness that yeah IDK. I'm incredibly biased so don't listen to me, but, you are an audiophile, correct? That was the 90s! Sonically, Anton Newcombe wasn't out of this world as a producer and that's just about the only thing that hampered their legacy as a band. Think about what JOhn Cale producing did for music. Sometimes a band just needs to let someone with a better understanding of a changing medium (recording vs. playing live completely SEPERATE ) take over, and Anton Newcombe never did that and suffered for it.

That band sucks ass. They sound like they wish they could be Prince. You actually listen to that shit? The thought of that literally sent shivers down my spine. You do know there is good music out there, right?

Dystopia- Leaning With Intent to Fall
I'm too impatient to figure out how to put a youtube video on here because I'm on a combo of heroin, methadone, cocaine, and klonopin as of right now. However, here are the lyrics. (I'm sure more than a few of you on here can relate)
--"so how much heroin are you going to buy?"
-"10 bags'....' I really shouldn't I should buy 5....
so that can get me through the day and if I buy ten
I'm going to wind up doing ten
the last time I had three hundred bucks I shot it up in five hours
I don't want to do that this time so i'm back out in the street you know what i mean?'"
__('''''"you know you got to be on it 24/7* and you got to rob and steal and -you rob and steal
you do things for a bit__((you know))
that you'd never otherwise do
you know, I've never been a thief,
I've never been a liar
I've never stolen from the people that i've loved...but you know, now i....do....
that's why i don't have anyone in my life"''''')______("i....i really do care for the people a lot..i actually...have a lot of feelings for them they're really good to me..umm...they're starting to catch on..they know something's wrong because $2,000 worth's a week is a lot of money..so they know something is wrong..and you know they told me last night that all they're money's gone..that they can't give me no more money, ..because that they've just got enough money to pay rent and stuff, man...
so..i took some things from them...i could have took a hell of a lot more; but that's just..j.justifying..to make myself feel better..what i did was wrong .
and i know it was wrong .
one day at a time
you know i keep on telling myself i gotta get my-"detox"- or i gotta get into a "program" &
if i don't it's going to be too late
"dead"
or i'm going to be in "prison"
it's going to be one or the other...
you don't know when or,..
you don't know where....on the path i'm going...
Lyrics:
Another friend found dead in the street
A painful death of self-defeat
The reaper killed by the seeds that were sown
Another mother destined to be alone
See the world through sunken eyes
Infected soul, infected brain
Feel your flesh turn stone cold
And endless downward spiral of misery and pain is what remains
You used to do that shit for fun
A steady march of slow death
With no intention of turning back
Feel the pleasure, you taste the pain
Getting high just to get sick again
You don't seem to be having much fun
Wake up,
Wake up from this lucid dream
Nightmares,
Nightmares of what the future brings
See your spirit fly with the angels
Fall from the heavens
Fall through your fingers
You say you're hurting?
I'm hurting too
Am I to love you?
I hate the things you do
You say it's over, you say you're sober
You''re fucking clean,
And then you fucking OD?
So you chose to take your life away?
Suicide is an easier way
See the world through sunken eyes
We tried to change the path you were on
Feel your flesh turn stone cold
A night alone, a spoon, a needle in the arm, and now you're gone
Can you climb out of this hole that you've dug?
I wish I could help you but I can't
Watching
Through my eyes is misery
Dying
In your eyes, that's all I see
See your shadow
Fall from the heavens
Fall through your fingers
Fade into nothing

Yeah Love is cool and everything, and I've known about them for years, but BJM came out in the 90's A. Newcombe is one of the most prolific artists out these days, period. He's a tortured genius, dope fiend, and is 100% LOCO. And I fucking love the fake British accent when he's singing. He and I would no doubt not get along IRL.
With that, I'll leave you with another one of BJM's 60's-sounding tunes, If love is the drug, then I want to OD (studio version):
Points taken, understood and acknowledged.
Anton is too much of a musical bigot to let anyone else fuck with his recordings, i.e., produce one of his records, and I think a lot of BJM stuff could've been better with a world-class producer behind the booth.
But his IS the master of the pastiche, no question about it. Stone Roses, Jesus and Mary Chain, Kula Shaker, it's all the usual (British) suspects. That being said, how bout Kula Shaker? You fuck with them, _Enduser?
You're so high - why can't you die?
Sometimes a band just needs to let someone with a better understanding of a changing medium (recording vs. playing live completely SEPERATE ) take over, and Anton Newcombe never did that and suffered for it.

always was my favorite part of that damn song.
also, the 'insert youtube' button has been replaced by 'insert flash', I typed out the function manually and it didnt work, so Im assuming
youve made it easier by just using auto-embed with link?
-
yes. the youtube markup was only temporary and is now removed
the "automatic" method, though not perfect, is where we want to be. when you think about how facebook embeds almost anything, you'll appreciate that it's been continually becoming more capable.
i have been adding metadata tags to our pages to be facebook friendly but facebook's handling of URL's is very impressive.

Althea by the Dead.. Some say that this was about Jerry's heroin addiction and the difficulties that it was
causing for him and the band. If so, ( and it is about his addiction ) I believe this is right up there with the
top 10 songs about heroin addiction. As Than would have said " What say you? "

Yeah, the drummer is clearly loving every second of that jam.
There's some amazing footage of George Clinton and The Parliaments- a live T.V performance- and the whole fucking band appears to be out of their minds, and still the music is amazing.

A great German techno-pop song.
That's a great song, I like techno/dance music with a sort of dark edge to it.
You might like the Presets, an Australian electro duo
(the last one is more melancholy- I can imagine having this running through someone's head as they swan dive off a cliff... not that I would as I'm scared of heights, but it evokes that sort of feeling of just freeing yourself from everything)

My pleasure, I'm glad you like it- Beams and Apocalypso are the names of their two albums that I have and they're definitely worth getting imho.

Been watching this lately.
Brings back some good memories. I grew up during the time Iggy Pop was starting out. Saw him live twice at the Michigan Palace in 72...

Barbara Tucker (no relation to myself) - Deep Inside
A crucial house jam from the golden age of the early 90's.
Hey I saw this on the comments on YT - One guy said his 7-year old was listening to this and thought it was "Deep In Snot, Deep Deep Down In Snot." Try not to hear that in this track!

B-52's Self Titled Album (1979)

Probably not the typical fare for these parts of the Web, but very typical for the landfill of great and not so great, and some downright terrible music buried permanently in my brain. Thank you!!!!!!!! We are all indebted to your hard work and we desperately need you in the USA!
In other news,
SHout to all Philly heads who know what it is . . . . . Poke a hole in my top Bwahahahahahah
To those not in the know, all the chinese joints in Philly sell "homemade" (powdered concentrate) iced tea and lemonaide in those plastic soup containers. So yeah you poke a hole in the top and throw a straw in that shit and it's like a big gulp!
-
Total Control - the album titled Henge Beat
(An Aussie band who are totally great. Just discovered them about a week ago. Record came out 2011)
"post punk" or so they say. I just say good ol' rock n' roll.
"One More Tonight," which begins at 6:17, has some serious Bauhaus overtones, and the next track that it leads into (no break) is totally weird yet awesome.
"Carpet Rash," which begins at 15:53 is highly recommended. "eating your breakfast in shower stalls"
Please give it a listen. Especially all you freaks, like _Enduser, Hero1, Nark, Skrammame, and you know who else the fuck y'all are. You won't regret it.

hahaha! Ahh yes, Ms Iggy fucken Azalea.
I will admit to being filled with a sense of overwhelming schadenfreude when I googled her name and the second result was "Iggy Azalea's career is over".
Her complete ignorance over what is simply flat out cultural appropriation, her vocal "black face" (why not rap in her Aussie accent?), her dismissal of people like Q-Tip who have tried to engage her civilly in a discussion about why she needs to check her privilege... yeah, she shits me.
FWIW we do have some amazing rappers here in Oz; this is Seth Sentry who is from Melbourne, and he doesn't need to put on a fake accent;
The bass line is wicked :)

The Clash-Guns of Brixton
As a longtime punk rock enthusiast, I really never liked the Clash-but I've been listening to this song on repeat for the last day-duper sope!
The Clash rule. They came out of the early punk scene to create some smart, memorable, prelveant, ska influnced politico-punk that was absolutely groundbreaking.
I just bought (my first)Ipod and loaded it up to include the 'London Calling' and eponmous "The Clash" and my dauly runns have returned to being a joy ratheer than a work-out chore.
But right now, Rollind Stones- "Exile on MainStret" the album thy made in that French house at about the peak of their sex and drugs debauchery. So heavy wit H references. Google "Spanish Tony" Their on staff drug courier on their payroll.

I first heard this shit in Better Off Dead
Ya know, the scene where the hamburgers come to life?

Sounds like "ah tuba maga luda forda whoopdee"
So. Much. COKE!
And of course the little line at the end
"Look, I'll pay ya for it, what the fuck? "

Yeah, thank yout00b. Their most recent album is the best one, the one that that track above came from. But they go waaaaay the fuck back, no?
Die Form, pronounced "Deform," most people don't realize that "Die" in german "pronounced 'dee'" simply means "the." The band's name means "the form" or "the shape" in German, although it's a French act.
Always been into esoteric electronic type shit, since way back in the days of Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Electronic, Coil, Psychick TV, et cetera.

Wow, Zoops, Psychic TV!!!
One of the GOAT Concerts (and I have seen literally hundreds, with stubs to prove it).
Saw PTV in 89 and the re-formed Throbbing Gristle at Coachella in 2009. (Also saw Chris & Cosey in the 80s).
Thought of all those RE|Search photos w/ them out in the desert when I went out to Barker Ranch, where Manson was caught under the vanity in the john. (The ranch house itself burned down in 2009.) For awhile one of my photos of the entrance to the ranch was my avatar on the phile.
I was really bummed out when PTV & TG co-founder Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson (probably as famous for his work with Hipgnosis design and Coil) died in his sleep about a year later at 55. Christopherson was one of the earliest innovators of sampling.
From his Wiki:
Writing for the Guardian newspaper, Dave Simpson credited Christopherson with using digital samplers on-stage before the Fairlight CMI popularised sampling. Also writing for the Guardian, Alexis Petridis described [TG co-founder Chris] Carter and Christopherson as "pioneers in technology", and noted a sampler that Carter had custom-built for Christopherson a number of years before sampling became popular. Christopherson explained Carter's construction and musical experimentation in a 1987 interview with Keyboard magazine:
It was a box that [TG synthesist] Chris Carter made for me, to my design that basically switched on and off – through inputs on tape recorders – six cassette machines, the output of each going to a different key. Many of the machines I used in TG were cassette machines that were stripped down and altered to play backward and forward and four tracks at once, the speed variable by flywheels. The very first sampling device there ever was, as far as I know, was manufactured by Mountain Hardware for Apple computers. It was designed to reproduce voice samples, and had a very limited selection of pitches. I was using that onstage in '79 or '80, which was before the first Fairlight was used commercially. So I've always had a soft spot for sampling.

This Deerhunter performance on Jimmy Fallon is pretty much the best thing I've ever seen on network TV. So badass.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds "The Witness Song"
I thought quite a bit of Nick Cave and the tragic loss of his son Arthur when the inquest was in the news last week.
I played album after album: he never ceases to amaze me. My heart really goes out to his family, especially having to undergo an inquest four months after the fact.
I first saw Nick Cave in 1989 (The Bad Seeds & Wolfgang Press at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago), and have always considered him one of the finest songwriters of his generation.
Seeing him perform twice at Coachella 2013 (both with the Bad Seeds and in a Grinderman "reunion") was transcendent, from start to finish.
Here's John Hillcoat's superb video for "Jubilee Street" off 2013's Push the Sky Away
"Into My Arms" is from 1997's The Boatman's Call and is the song that came to mind when I heard about Arthur Cave's tragic death at 15. Nick played this song at Michael Hutchence's funeral (after insisting that all cameras be turned off). This version of is from a live performance from 1999. It's just a fuckin heartbreaker

If you like these, there are countless great Nick Cave videos, all of his 19 albums and more on youtube.

SOMEBODY ELSE’S IDEA OF SOMEBODY ELSE’S WORLD,
IS NOT MY IDEA OF THINGS AS THEY ARE.
SOMEBODY ELSE’S IDEA OF THINGS TO COME,
NEED NOT BE, THE ONLY WAY
TO VISION THE FUTURE.
WHAT SEEMS TO BE, NEED NOT BE,
WHAT NEED, HAD TO BE,
FOR WHAT WAS, IS ONLY BECAUSE OF
AN ADOPTED SOURCE OF THINGS.

I used to play AiC's Dirt all the time when I had my last big relapse as I drove to score.
Some music I just can't really listen to anymore as it's so closely tied up with my junkie past (Hole is a big one too).
Hope your recovery/whatever you want to call it is going well :)

It's the best thing that you've ever had, the best thing that you ever, ever had. It's the best thing that you ever had, the best thing that you had has gone away....
That song always makes me cry. And I'm in a public place! thanks a fucking lot, St. T.!

@Zoops: Tom Johnston (Doobies) wrote "Listen to the Music," but the Isleys rock the hell out of it. And Viva Don Cornelius!
Nobody messes with the Bar-Kays.
@St. T: Man the boys in RH look so young! I shall avoid mirrors today...
Don't know if you guys have followed Sean Lennon, but G.O.A.S.T.T. (his band with Charlotte Kemp Muhl) is a really knockout band. The records are great, but I saw them in SD and was killed. They are a LIVE band with studio wizadry to boot.

6-mam, that Primus video was cool.
Had a flashback to the 97 H.O.R.D.E. Festival, where Primus appeared, along with Morphine, Ben Folds Five, Neil Young/Crazy Horse and a bunch of jam bands. I saw that show in Orange County, Tinley Park (IL) and East Troy (WI).
This was a travelling show with multiple stages. There was a small (basically dirt) stage called the Workshop stage, where the headliners played to a handful of folks, unadvertised. So, part of the fun of seeing the show a few times was NY always switched it up; I got to see all the bands I wanted to; the Workshop Stage shows were especially cool. I saw Mark Sandman pick up Ben Folds' viola player, (who left the tour between Chicago and Alpine Valley).
So, at the little stage, Mark Sandman showed up with his two-string slide bass and sax player Dana Colley. They were joined by Les Claypool, for a too-short (4 hours would have been too short) set featuring the two bass players, punctuated by that blistering sax blast.
Mark Sandman died two years later, on stage in Italy.
That Primus made me nostalgic. So, without any further blathering, the best of Morphine:
-
-
I could have sworn I heard someone say more primus....this was great
-
the 90s had so many great dance-music scenes.
what happened to dancing?

Yep, I'm missing this right now

woulda posted the version from deathproof with the gorgeous italian gal giving that lapdance but the audio's better on this one.

Great Holiday Record
Especially love the Ronettes' "Sleigh Bells"
Couldn't listen to Christmas music for years, but now I'm okay with it.

Love this old-school Acid Trance.
DJ Hardware (excerpt from a CD). I have a mixtape by him called "Acid Blackout" recently dug it out of the vault and was playing it at high volume last night around 2am. Must have pissed my neighbors off real bad. Had to. I was off my ass on PST though, so I dint care. I wish I could find that mix on YT. It's that good, people.
Just makes me wanna get up and DANCE! I question your junkie credentials if it doesn't have the same effect on you.

Recorded it to watch later--U2's concert on HBO
Way too many "down memory lane songs" to list; was in military & got to go to see them (i think it was when the Joshua Tree album came out), but Bono just pulled a bunch of "super fans" up on stage to sing w/band for a few songs. There's a kid who's around 11 just having a blast w/the drummer (and singing every word!) :D
Love that band is stopping for pics & videos. Love the band anyway, but for those who like their stuff, this special is pretty cool :D

@neighbor- same to you, because of you I'm now refreshing myself on the white stripes on my drive to go Xmas shopping...gota love this thread. Pretty sure @Zoops created it, hats off sir. Always stumble upon either something new or something I forgot about. @Sand and Water- my truck has an issue where whenever I first plug my phone in to charge or listen to music or what have you, the first thing that comes up is the new U2 album on pandora which plays for a minute or so before my phone wakes up and does what I want of it. Sure you'd love it but after 8 months I have grown a strong disdain towards that band lolll
-
Since it's Christmas Eve thought I post up the greatest Christmas tune of all time, as well as one of one the greatest love songs ever penned.
Your a bum your a punk,
Your an old slut on junk.........
Dedicated to my babydoll. I love you mama.
Posted the version with lyrics even though sound quality is not the greatest, as some people find it hard to cut through his brogue. Greatest Irish poet EVER: Shane fuckin McGowan.

Along with the traditional stuff like the Hallelujah Chorus", a mix of "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reinderr" & the ""12 Days of Christmas" (w/the guy getting madder & madder about stringing up the lights & Archie Bunker "aww geesh" bit lol).
Also, gotta find out from my brother who this is--it's a hilarious children's lullaby parody imo
Its starts out with:
"Go to sleep, you little creep..
Close your red bloodshot eyes.."
Irreverent (& I'll prolly burn in hell for liking it), but too true for all exhausted parents :D
-
Go to sleep, you little creep. Close your big, bloodshot eyes.
Go to sleep, you little creep. Hope your teddy bear dies.
Go to sleep, you little creep. Hope you fall out of bed.
Go to sleep, you little creep. Hope you land on your head. @S&W, totally forgot about this messed up but funny lullabie. I couldn't find much info about an author or anything. Thinking it's an old passed down song by your twisted uncle type deal but could be wrong.

Today on the playlist is: K's choice I'm not an addict and The cranberries Zombie I'd post the video but it didn't let me booooooo

Lol no my brother found it somewhere on the Net a few years ago & played it for us. Will be doing the New Years get together if I can travel & will definitely ask him to re-find it. Will share it he finds it again :)
The guy who sings it sounds a bit like George Carlin. That & the "12 Days of Christmas" parody w/the impersonations are my favorites :D

'92 Reading Festival was the apex of Nirvana, that guy REALLY knew how to work the crowd. The music was pretty simple, not overly technical, and Kurt admitted often that his lyrics didn't mean shit....he would pen them in last second, almost as an afterthought.
But he could whip that audience into a frenzy, we won't likely see the likes of him again.....makes me very sad.

Also streetlight huh? Didn't think too many outside of that little jersey town were up on them. They used to play a couple small bars in amboy back in the day, and they fucking rock bro.

Violent femmes?
Social D?
Danzig ?
Bad religion?
Heroin?
Good shit.
Me and you would get along just right bro.
My old myspace pic was me and Lars on 16th & mission, where I bumped into him one day while we both copping. I'm talking like 2006, he was very well known by then and he was still out on the corner copping his own shit. Walked with me to my vehicle and signed my viking cd. Rancid was in the studio working on let the dominos fall albumn I think. He told me all about it. Also told me the bastards would never put out anything else which bummed me the fuck out. That was the second time I met him, but we fucking hung out that day. He's one cool ass motherfucker bro. Took me to pancho villas for super burritos too. Fuck that was an awesome day in the mission, actually one of the best. Besides the day I met my wife, on the very same corner too, I can't think of a better one. Fuck I get nostalgic for living in frisco when I think about those times.
-
@dirtyjerzy Damn straight that was an AWSOME day, Hella jealous. I've seen streetlight a few times in NY, and NJ as well. KILLS IT!

Amazing musician, and a super down to earth, ganja smoking, Iowa farm boy really.
Check his shit out on you tube, dudes got fucking skills, and the banjo is not a easy instrument to play by far.
For those of you not born in a cabin on a mountain, don't let the banjo part scare you off.
Check out his cover of ain't no sunshine. Recorded off a phone too I think,
Fucking kills it. But his original lyrics and songs are the way to go.

One from the "back of the rack," Catherine Wheel: Crank
This song is not about doing speed. The word "crank" in British slang is roughly the equivalent of "weirdo."
Damn I just watched the video too, and they look sooooo fucking dated in there, it's totally cray cray. 1993 was a long time ago...
An interesting piece of trivia about this band is that the singer is the paternal cousin of Bruce Dickinson, lead singer of IRON fucking MAIDEN! His last name is the same, first name escapes me right now.

So much good music in here. Thanks to everyone posting keep em comin'
And as always stay Classy as Fuck
Its long and it starts out a little slow. My favorite parts are the 2nd and 4th movements (I think they are called) so if you care for a listen I suggest skipping to 11:45 (or 4:20 for 2nd) to see some shredding on the mandolin
-
can't search out/post a proper link due to limited data but drinking whiskey & listening to the Hasil Adkins Moon Over Madison LP if that means anything to anyone. If not, it's love-sick one-man-band hill/swamp country. If you know Hasil it's more lonesome, less psycho.

Latley I have been rotating between David Bowie's last albulm "BlackStar",Twenty-One pilots, and Kevin Gates new albulm Islah. Quite a variety of genres.

this is one Gooooood instrumental track - Dif Juz - No Motion
-
Just listened to the guy who sang "Hallelujah" from the Shrek movie (i know, but he did a really good job on it imo).
Really liked the part about King David & Delilah "tied ya to the chair". Kids won't get it (which is a good thing), but good stuff.
ETA--sorry, i don't know his name, but will try to find if anyone wants.

I accidentally posted the same song twice the other day.
This is the one by Dif Juz that I meant to post. Very dreamy instrumental piece.

Yeah, I'm a little tiny bit. Stoned. Right now.
After you watch and listen for about five minutes straight, you'll find yourself in a strange headspace. Like what the fuck does "whipped. cream. pourin. like. waterfalls. even mean anyway?"
-
Don't remember if posted this one before, but here it is anyway.
An Aussie band called "Total Control" - Henge Beat
Great album. Good experimental stuff that's easy to listen to. Actually has a beat to it!
-
WARNING NOT SAFE FOR WORK!
This little interlude - not really a "song" - gives me bad dreams.

Yay! Thanks Jega!
-
Some Coheed & Cambria with a little twist. Kind of funny so i thought id share with all you fine folks.
-
@adamn1t You like Coheed?
-
@Jega Absolutely. More so of their older stuff, I think the new album sounds a little too pop-ish for my taste I prefer the heavier riffs but there are still some good songs on there. You also a fan? Just a guess because you even know who they are, a lot of people dont.
-
@adamn1t I completly agree with you about their old stuff. Devil in jersey city is what got me started.
-
@Jega Yup thats the album right there. For me I was in this band and we covered Delirium Trigger with a chick singing on account of claudios high voice. We sounded pretty awesome if I remember correctly.
Figured i post again since that other song is only on youtube. Bummer, that supreme court justice they are quoting in the song said some funny stuff. " pure applesauce" "jiggery-pokery" "ask the nearest hippie"
anywho heres delirium trigger

Back in 2011 when Coheeds bass player Michael Todd robbed a pharmacy for oxys with a note that said he had a bomb right before they were supposed to open for Soundgarden at the Comcast Center i could sot of relate. I mean not about the robbery, But about the desperation.

I have a house,
It's not my house.
Not my father's house,
Not my mother's house,
Not my brother's house,
Not my sister's house...
It's a horror house
I don't want to be in this house,
don't want to see in this house.
It's a horror house
You think you own it,
And I dis-own it,
You think you own it,
And I am alone.
And as she reaps,
So she sows.
Everytime I try to walk away,
You scream as if to say,
"Come on home,"
"you're not alone,"
"in our house..."
or something like that! hahaha!

this dude is named "Bunny" and his project is "Rabbit in the Moon." I went to a party at a large arcade, called "Sportsland" on the outskirts of Philly, February of 1996. Drove up with a group of people from Richmond VA in like 4 hours, which I think was pretty fast! Technically, it was a "rave" but cool people call them "parties." Now you know...
Rabbit in the Moon performed. Guy was wearing a steel mask on his face and grinding on it with an electric grinder, making a huge shower of sparks, to deafening techno music. When he took off the mask, after about 10 minutes of grinding, his face was all bloody. Don't know if the blood was fake, but the kids went f*I(&*%!@ crazy over that! I was high on Percocets that whole night. Took 6 every few hours, 4 times, I believe. Not a big dose these days but I was only 24 at the time gimme a break damn. I did buy a fake capsule of E though. Pissed me the FUCK off. $30 wasted and that was all my money! At least these days when you buy fake ecstasy, you at least get some sort of psychoactive drug! Like MDPV or that dichloro-valerocathinone or some shit.
Although it came out years later, this track quite captures the mood of that night. Dude is a techno MACHINE. Imagine his life, night after night after night after night after night of loud ass techno, drugs and drugs and drugs and drugs and drugs and (probably) lots of YOUNG HOT WOMEN too. Maybe he's so out there he has transcended sex though.
And this one, I hadn't listened to in YEARS! this one. Damn! this is some dancin' ass music right here! I was doin all sorts of moves to this track just now!
Listen to that second one and TELL ME YOU DIDN'T GET DOWN AND BOOGIE YOUR ASS OFF. TELL ME YOU DIDN'T. I CHALLENGE YOU!
lazy fuckers.

Omaha Nebraska music scene 4 lyfeeeeeeeeeeee
Oh an adelph, not sure if my PM to you went through. But heres a link to the story about him robbing walgreens.
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/more-details-emerge-on-coheed-and-cambria-bassists-drug-arrest-20110712
Coheed and Cambria bassist Michael Todd was arraigned yesterday in Massachusetts on charges of armed robbery and drug possession after police say he robbed a Walgreens pharmacy on Sunday, hours before his band was set to open for Soundgarden at Mansfield’s Comcast Center.
The Boston Globe has new details on the robbery. When the pharmacist told Todd she didn’t have any OxyContin, he allegedly responded, “I’ll take your Perc 30s,’’ 30-milligram pills of Percocet. She gave him several bottles of oxycodone, the main ingredient in OxyContin.
Soon after he fled, four police officers arrived at Walgreens and interviewed the pharmacist. A police officer noticed a fresh path on the grass behind the building; a witness told police they saw someone running, and then jumping into a brown minivan taxi. Police discovered the name of the taxi company, which directed police to Todd’s tour bus at the Comcast Center, where he was arrested

Finally getting into some Black Grape; don't know how I missed them all these years, considering I knew and liked the Happy Mondays. The whole "It's Great When You're Straight, Yeah" album is pretty great.
But it's a special song that can satirize the UK temazepam craze of the time, and also hit a little close to home for any of us who's gone out to a social gathering gobbling benzos and passed out in an unfamiliar bed with no memory of the night's conversation. I'm sure this has been posted before, but I checked the last half-dozen pages of the thread and searched "tramazi" with no results, so I'll just go ahead:
-
^^^Oh shit! Yeah! Tramazi party!
Love me some Happy Mondays. "Pills n Thrills" was the soundtrack of my early 90's college experience.
O.K., a girl I met at an AA meeting turned me onto this group tonight -

Chipper, did you make a change to the video embedder within the past three weeks or so?
I'm only asking because I can no longer see videos on the site anymore. For instance, I could always see these YouTube music videos before. I can't see them anymore.
I can watch YouTube videos regularly on Safari. I just watched one two nights ago. I even checked just now. I don't think it's my browser, because I can obviously watch them on the YouTube site using Safari.
I'm really not trying to criticize you or anything. I'm just wondering if you might have changed something recently, thereby making it impossible for me to watch videos embedded on the board now.
I had the same problem a week or two ago when Zoops posted those two videos about opium harvesting. I thought at first he had removed the videos, but it wasn't that.
Any help or insight you can give would be greatly appreciated by me.

Deutscher Synth Pop: Melotron - Folge Mir Ins Licht (Follow Me into the Light)
...und eine andere von demselben Künstler
...gutes Zeug!
-
@Zoops Where are you finding this Deutscher Musik? The thirteenth step or somewhere else, lol? (You know I'm just being a silly goof, of course. Actually, fun fact, I'm not sure if it's totally true but a guy from Vancouver BC told me he'd seen a bar fight over the word "goof," that "goof" in Canadian prison slang means something really bad, like chomo or snitch or punk or something...)
-
I find it on YouTube. All you have to do is type in, say, the name of a group, like "Melotron," and you'll be presented with several meta-recommendations like it. Watch those and get more. Just like that. YouTube is the most awesome thing I've ever experienced for music. I can listen super-obscure stuff from the 80's like Pink Industry, or top 40 garbage if I want to. I am digging the German stuff. They have a lot of music that is only listened to over there primarily, due to the language barrier. Many German groups record in English too.
BlutEngel got me started with all that Deutscher Zeug. I blame him.
-
This is a truly beautiful song, by the German artist known as "BlutEngel" (BloodAngel). The lyrics are in Deutsch of course, but they have the same sort of rhyming cadence that lyrics in English have. Unlike listening to songs in Spanish or French, there is a certain rhythm that this has that's similar to English.
Königin der Nacht ("Kings of the Night") - BlutEngel
Give it a listen! You won't be disappointed. I promise.
Also, one by a Swiss band, called Grauzone - "Eisbaer" (Ice Bear - their word for "Polar Bear") This one came out about 1982ish.
Some happy Swiss girls dancing in this video. I wish I knew what the song was about. What is the point of having two girls dancing to a song about a polar bear?

I need to rescind my former post. I'm sorry, @chipper I really wasn't trying to criticize you. I promise.
I'm rescinding it because I was updating my settings yesterday, and came across my content blockers. I normally had one, but I then downloaded three more about a month ago. I've since turned off, but not deleted, the three newer ones.
I kept the first one I downloaded on because I do need at least one content blocker. I also know the first one didn't and doesn't conflict with videos on DAU. I can now see the videos again. I'm happy about that!
I'm going to test the three content blockers one by one, to determine which app(s) caused the block. When I determine it, I'll finally delete the offending app(s).
Again, I really am sorry, Chipper. I reiterate that I wasn't trying to criticize you. It was my mistake, not your modifications. :)

I just tried to post "Blow a Kiss" by Major Lazer, which also plays incessantly on the music system at the store too, but YT has it blocked. You know that popular song on the radio that sounds like "butt kiss, fire a gun?" funny as shit. It sounds EXACTLY like that!

Yeah I liked the cover of "In Bloom" too. When an artist can completely re-interpret a work like that it's awesome. I had to listen to the lyrics for a minute to place it. I knew that I had heard a song with that title before, but didn't remember that it was a Nirvana song.

When "Emo" Music was an actual thing. and not some insult at the end of a sharp witted MCR fanboys tongue.

Carmelita - Warren Z

DIIV - Is the Is Are
this is . Seriously. The best Album I've heard in a LOOONG time! Seriously. Give it a listen.

I know what you're thinking..THATS NOT CONOR OBERST.
ITS TAYLOR HOLLINGSWORTH! But it was on Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley band's album Outer South. Which was like half Conor Oberst / MVB songs, and half MVB songs written and sung by each of the MVB band members who dont typically sing. The entire thing is pretty god damn epic actually.

This dude Gobby out of NYC makes some of the most bizarre electronic music I've ever heard and I can't get enough.

Client - You Can Dance
Nice tunage for a beautiful Springtime morning. Have the windows in the place open and this is up loud. Having breakfast.
-
Melotron - Manchmal
Sounds very classy to me.
I can see myself rolling hard on a big dose of E, with a few supermodels in the VIP section at a club in Dresden, dancing to this crucial groove.
-
Icon of Coil - Floorkiller
the demons...the demons...the demons!
-
Smoke 2 Joints
Sublime baby Sublime
-
Lana Del Rey (which translates to "Wool of the King" from Spanish) - her new song "FREAK" is pretty good.
She doses the bearded guy with what appears to be a tab of acid in this video. Cool shit.
-
"You may have been to Hollywood but never to the moon"
-
and the eternal classic

and this is from the 1932 classic 'Freaks'. Prince Randian, the human torso lighting a cigarette. he could also roll them but ive yet to find footage of that. also fathered many children. all around badass.

Yep, he hadn't yet made it to his 24th birthday when he hung himself. So sad. I think he'd be taking us to some pretty wild places musically today had he lived. I think he'd have gone into electronic music eventually, like his bandmates who went on to form New Order did.
He, along with being a talented singer with his basso voice, and a genuis lyricist, was a fucking AWESOME dancer! His moves were wild and reminiscent of seizure activity, which makes sense because he was an epileptic.
So many notable people throughout history have been epileptic. Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar (?), even the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) was a spaz.
Right now, I'm flashing back to age 11, with this song:
Human League - "Don't You Want Me?"
And also "Fascination" by the same group.
(damn he sure is a pretty girl ain't he?)
And this one, a MONSTER track!
Eddy Grant - "Electric Avenue"
we used to sing a song on the bus to school like this:
We gonna rock down to,
K-Mart to buy some shoes,
they only cost a dolla...

Black Moon - "I Got'Cha Opin (Remix)"

OMFG OBVIOUSLY LIKE 6 OR 7 am AND THEY ARE ALL LOADED TO THE FUCKING GILLS ON ECSTASY AND LSD. Any any other random drugs like heroin and cocaine too. And weed, lots of weeeeeedd/
..AND THIS CHICK IS O GROOVY IT WOULD BE FUN AS SHIT TO TOTALLY BANG HER. NO i'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT DUDE UP THERE! ^^^ HER (SCROLL DOWN) >>>>
dancing is lilke sex sort of.
(this recording at shortly after sunrise on a typical overcast Spring (probably ~6am Sonnetag) day in Germany from another one of the three-day electronic music events totally MDMA-fuelled (I think Europe is stealing MDMA from the good old USA if they can consistently fill venues like this PACKED full of people every one tripping on E rolling hard as fuck for DAYS on end. talk about an end to ALL violence. if everyone would just drop E for like a week straight, eat little, fuck everything thtat moved, and DANCE DANCE DANCE things wouldn't be so bad between folks. I mean shit you don't have to get into the sexual aspect unless you want to it's still a strong bonding experience to totally lose one's inhibitions together like that - I think it's nice).
And @Anti-hero - take note my friend. This is what electronic "techno" music subculture has become these days. Ecstasy and "club" culture have been completed usurped by and co-opted by "square" types who actually partake completely of the drugs and shit. At least with just ecstasy. In Europe. It's still a but sub-cuiturist to be a devoteé of the techno 'rave' lifestyle here in the USA. These aren't "raves" anymore per se either, they are "electronic music events..." in the news.

listening to my own "mini" remix of a mate's track.
go to Downloads and click on my recent "mini" remix to download, if interested ... or go to http://forum.drugs-and-users.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=12 (http://forum.drugs-and-users.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=12) and select MA and CG Track 1 remix.mp3 to download.
it's only a couple of minutes long and again, shows the music that i'm into ... it's not for everyone, it's house and it's my own remix.
-
Jesus and Mary Chain - Almost Gold
Great country Western sounding guitar solo at the end, when the song crescendos to the end.
check it out...
@chipper - what do you think of type of techno jam they show in those vids I posted. This seems to be THE thing nowadays - someone with a laptop, a drum synthesizer and bass sequencer or something like that, and a loudass sound system - they create their own original techno jam sessions - some of it is pre-programmed beats and sequences but they change the sounds assigned to the sequences at will - that's what makes it so cool. It's like one-man techno/beats jazz.
-
Well Zoops, I'm seeing my very popular club and others where the DJ brings in their laptop with their huge music library and the software for their Traktor (basic S2 unit for example) or Pioneer's offering and ignore the standard club "analog" digital standalone controllers.
I was checking out the sound quality and it's cool - at least 96Khz sample rates and some less-than-that mp3s.
Clubs and parties are now introducing stems where the bass, synth, vocals etc. have been split so the DJ can drop in phrases of these components, over the track playing ... it's really the brave new world for entertainment audio and visual.

these dudes are some of the best when it comes to the beach goth genre

Some good ol Deutscher techno-pop;
So klingt Liebe - "Sounds Like Love" by And One
The video is a bit eclectic, but it works.
-
Ramones - Rocket to Russia - playing the vinyl LP on my turntable.
Great record. Have it turned up waaay too loud right now, blasting my neighbors fucking ears out!
"I wanna be well" "Surfin' Bird" "Ramona" "Teenage Lobotomy" and "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" - some great tunes on this album.
-
I love that you love the Ramones. I saw them live 11 times from 86 til 92 or so. Great shows. Met the band. Good times!
-
-
Psychic TV - Bliss. From the album "Towards thee Infinite Beat" (1990) which is a classic. Some good tracks on there. I highly recommend it.
-
Ty Segall - Bees
("beath goth")
All of his stuff is superb.
And this...
Phenomenal. Can't understand a word of the lyrics but it's fucking great! Talk about stoner California beach psychedelic surf rock.

I have been on a citizen cope kick lately, when I was a roadie he came to town and I set up his show and that is how I first heard of him. He was super cool he had a huge joint sent to him from fedex to the venue, and shared his weed with everyone which was damn cool, a lot of musicians don't talk to the roadies and some are complete dicks(five for fighting is the worst i dealt with) he was awesome though and chilled all day with everyone.
PS if you want to know why I thought five for fighting was the worse, was because the guy was a huge asshole the whole time, and didn't allow any smoking inside or out of the venue by the roadies which isn't horrible but he didn't want any of the roadies to look at him, and when one did he sent him home for the day, he made all the roadies sit outside in the heat after we set all of his gear up for his sound check because he didn't want anyone to look at him or hear his sound check, the whole day was little petty shit like that it was ridiculous.
Instead of being out and letting us know how to set the lights to his liking and the equipment where he wanted while we were doing it, he would come back after we finished and tell us he didn't like and to re do it, complained about everything like his backstage dressing room was to small his food plate didn't have something specific he wanted.
I understand not wanting people to smoke around you but he didn't allow anyone to smoke at all even outside, or on the other side of the venue where you can't be smell or heard the whole entire day from 10 in the morning until 2 AM when the show was over. He was a cunt, plus not allowing anyone looking at him and sending someone home so they don't get paid because they looked at him on accident and making everyone sit outside in the heat after setting up all his shit perfectly so he could soundcheck is so rude.
the venue was so big you can't see the other people on the other side of it where the chairs were that we usually took our breaks. He bitched at his own crew about everything too I would never work for that asshole.
-
Thank you @Griffin for bringing this stagnant thread back to life with some good music. This is my favorite thread but has been soooo dead lately come on D&U i know you guys listen to music so lets hear it! Anyways heres what im listening to today.

-
I withdrew from the streets and all human-like zones
I'd had it, I'd had it, I was mush to the bones
I covered the windows, I was taking no calls
So I hid for a month inside the alien walls
-
Five for Fighting were a shit band anyway. I had to listen to a light rock more cock station at work, and heard FFFs You Don't Know Wat It's Like to be Me, or what ever that shit fest was called, I heard it like 300 times in the course of a few months. Totally figures that that guy was a dickwad.
-
That video is pretty cool jega, yeah I hadn't heard them before that night it was awful of course he didn't have any local bands or opening acts so it was like 2 hours of his whiny bullshit and complaints before we had to break his stuff down and put it perfectly back in his trailer, fucking fuckwad. That guy is a piece of shit and his buttrock music is just as shitty as he is. When I worked at a pizza place they played a christian rock station, and put a fucking speaker in the kitchen playing that shit, I told him to remove the speaker or turn it off while I was there or I wouldn't work.
I was more or less atheist at the time, so the shitty music was just that much worse. Christian rock has to be one of the worst music genres in the world as far as talent, sound, and everything else about it, I like gospel stuff and don't mind people singing about god or whatever but damn they really push it with putting butt rock music behind lyrics about How jesus is coming. Have you ever heard christian rap now at least that's kind of funny. The South Park episode where cartmen makes a christian band is so awesome and on point, that is exactly how they all sound.
-
Do you guys have "Hillsong" ?
-
Griffin I can honestly say I don't believe I have ever heard Christian Rap.
And Chipper please, really please, tell me what Hillsong is?
-
Hillsong is Christian group propped up by their Christian music -- apparently they are a large group of young people who spread the word through music.

I fucking love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I saw them live in NYC in a club and she was amazing. I tried to look up the meaning of their song "Zero" on Genius.com....to me it is obviously about the BDSM scene
Karen O
Amy Winehouse
Alison Mosshart
Sarah McLaclan
Best female singers imo
Old school Flaming Lips with Ronald Jones. Jones was a fucking genius, he made the strangest, awesome sounds with his guitar, as inventive as Tom Morello
Exhibit A
Exhibit B Dam the guitar sound at 0:44 is so CRUNCHY
Old School band called the Malakas, their lead singer, Canford Nix, was a Heroin guy who died. He has a lot of great solo stuff too
The new Aesop Rock, "The Impossible Kid" is fire! I also like the new Weezer, "The White Album" it is their best record since "The Green Album"
-
I love the flaming lips, they are from my home town and my parents are somewhat friends of the lead singer wayne coyne who is an awesome dude. I first saw them do a new years eve show and its still the best show I have ever been too, got to go back stage and meet all them after which made it even better of course, glad they got a little more recognition over the past decade, because they were basically a one hit wonder in the 90s before Yoshimi Battles the pink robots and the album right before it and started showing up on every movie and commercial.
If you haven't been to one of their shows it's definitely a do before you die kind of show it's great even if you aren't a big fan of their music, the NYE show I went to they gave everyone laser pointers, and at midnight dropped at least 1000 huge balloons and beach balls, it was a great show, lots of cool stuff like that throughout the concert so you were entertained on top of the music. Glad someone posted one of their songs I haven't listened to them in a few years.

Yeah I definitely need to go to one of their shows, I saw a few videos of their live shows and it looks so wild! I just could imagine taking some psychedelics and totally bugging out when they start playing. Some of the footage I've seen looks like a performance art show mixed with a rock concert. So rad!
Have you seen the documentary on them it's called "The Fearless Freaks" it is pretty cool, it traces their evolution. They were always on my rader since the 90's, but I didn't really get into them until the Yoshimi record. I just recently got into the two albums with Ronald Jones & Steven Drozd, Transmissions from the Satellite Heart & Clouds Taste Metallic and it is blowing my mind how different and good they sound. Drozd & Jones are both musical geniuses. I'm sure you know there are conflicting reports on why Jones left the band. He has been a ghost ever since and I wonder why he didn't do something after he left. Drozd is an awesome drummer too. I'm glad he stayed.
Exhibit A
Some days when I don't feel like getting out of bed, I blast The W.A.N.D (The Will Always Negates Defeat) and it gives the strength to take on the man and the fucked system. These lyrics totally get me ready for the fight....
You've got the power in there
Waving your wand in the air
Time after time those fanatical minds try to rule all the world
Telling us all it's them who's in charge of it all
I've got a tricked out magic stick that will make them all fall
We've got the power now, motherfuckers; that's where it belongs!
You've got that right
Power in there
You know that it's
Wand in the air
They've got their weapons to solve all their questions, they don't know what it's for
Because they don't know what it's for
Why can't they see it's not power, just greed, to just want more and more?
Just want more and more
I got a plan and it's here in my hand a baton made of light
We're the enforcers, the sorcerer's orphans, and we know why we fight!
Its so rad you got to meet Wayne Coyne, he's a total visionary.

fuckin love the flaming lips, especially She Dont Use Jelly. good call.

Alright now I have to listen to The Score all the why thru tonight. Its all good because I'm not sleeping until I get to the clinic at 6am , couple more hours and I'm good. Is Lauren Hill not the illest female mc of all time, I can't even think of a close second...maybe, Mc Lyte,......Bahamadia, Eve?? Sheeeeit!
Damm Sterno! In my drinking days I thought I was bad with my mouthwash & cooking wines. Once or twice some isopropyl alcohol just to stop the shakes. My friend IV'd vodka once...he didn't die, but he said it was horrible and he would never do it again

Yeah he was such a nice cool chill dude, my parents went to his halloween and NYE parties every year that he had them when I was in high school and a few years after I don't know how well they still know him, they were friends of friends, one of my dads best friends wife is a writer and journalist for a local news paper so she has done stories about them since they started and introduced my parents to them in the mid 2000s and since then they would go to random parties a few times a year together, and they'd get us tickets for the nye show each year with back stage passes, my brother whose a drummer got to play on their set after the show in 2009.
The wand is definitely one of my favorite songs by them, and do you realize is awesome too, first time I heard them was at their nye show in 2006 or 07 went to best buy the next day to pick up all their cd's.

For all the old Metallica/Cliff Burton fans out there (R.I.P. Cliff). This is Cliff's Anesthesia/Pulling Teeth solo.
He's the reason Rickenbacker basses are my favorite. They have a very distinct sound/tone.
-
Any you NYC/North Jersey folks remember Psychotica? I miss them.
Anyone into heavier stuff should give this song a try. The album Espina that this is from is all good.

Rick's are really love em or hate em. I don't know anyone that doesn't have a strong opinion one way or the other about them. I can't stand the fretboards and necks with those huge bodies. I totally understand that some people love them, but for me they are just not my thing.
Give me a skinny neck 5 string ibanez for most of the time, and a p bass with flats for that growl and ease of slapping and I'm a happy happy boy. It's funny how you can get two musicians on the same instrument and they sound totally different. Especially bass players given how much even the smallest finger changes on your right hand can have a massive effect on your tone.
-
^^^Hey there Z!
Regarding Ricks, for me the reason they're my favorite is cuz of its distinct sound. No matter what song I hear no matter what band I can always tell if the bass player is using a Rickenbacker.
I try my best at playing instruments but I'm more of a singer.
My husband is the real singer/songwriter/musician in the relationship though. He claims I can sing and well collaborate when he uses his recording studio in the basement.

Oh so good.
I wish I was random dancing guy.

It must be Nirvana Day for me or something. Not complaining.

King Ghedorah (MF Doom) & Mr. Fantastic "anti-matter." Hip Hop isn't my main thing but I can't get enough of this tune. Chorus is a touch cheesy but MF's verses are so on point.

Woody Guthrie - This Land Is Your Land

(verse 3)
Six feet under
In y grave
Lying wired and shut and quiet in my grave
Leave me here
Leave me here to waste here
So young and here I am again
Talking to myself
A T.V. blares
Oh man
Oh how I wish I didn't smoke
Or drink to reason with my head
But sometimes this thick confusion
Grows until I cannot bear it at all
Needle to the vein
Needle to the vein
Take this needle from my vein my friend
I said
My head won't leave my head alone
And I don't believe it will
Until I'm dead and gone
My head won't leave my head alone
And I don't believe it will
Until I'm dead and gone
In my grave
Lying
Lying cold in my grave
The reason -
My reason
Take my head off this terror
The fearing won't come back
I can't see
My mind's all wiped clean
The needle
Make my great escape
I seem caught in time
My head leaves me behind
Body fall cold
And I see heaven

Cradle of Filth - Hallowed Be Thy Name (Iron Maiden cover)

This song brings me back to when I was 17. It was me and my first true love's song. Yes we were weirdos and damn proud of it.
Rest in Peace Peter Steele.

My current favorite song by my favorite singer/songwriter Dax Riggs.
This is for gnossos cuz she loves him too and has been through some bad shit.
-
It's an Izzy day for me today. He reminds me of my husband in many ways. He and Duff were always my favorites.
-
If this chick lost like 30lbs and had short messy hair you'd have me on the week after my valium runs out. Shit the video even ends with a metaphor for my marriage currently--my poor husband cleaning up after his fuck-up wife.
Anyways....Have always and will always love this song.

Always love it when I can inspire someone. (:

This goes well with my drug discovery my husband hid in the basement from me which I of course sniffed out. I put those drug-sniffin pooches to shame...
Lords of Acid - Get Up, Get High
Good fuckin morning indeed.
Btw I found some Lyrica. That stuff gets me all sorts of wacky.
-
Well he came to town
Found the woman that I love
And he fucked her down
She told him where I live
Off of 9th in the alleyway
Where they say
They got the coke and the dope
Until you end up broken
"You should have let the smack get you" he said
"But now you've got to deal with me instead"

A nice flashback from the 90's--Mazzy Star - Fade Into You.
I STILL have a crush on Hope Sandoval.

Still on my 90's bender. This song unfortunately reminds me of my neighborhood but the song still rocks.

I think this thread is going never to be outdated, so I don't need to bother to get accused for practicing digitally voodoo magic.

So well, here it is^^^. If someone (by some miracle) would find himself having a crush on me ???, wanted bang me, marry me or just have sex just for fun-there's a best manual/compendium of handling Nikita ever invented. I'm obviously not as gifted and gorgeous looking as PJ Harvey, but just telling you for a case, lol. (wait, wait, just edited and noticed my avatar has something common with her, wow).
I have to admit/confess, I'm not somehow special versed in music, I'd never dare to claim being a connoisseur in this terms. I'm not any proud owner of 10000 CDs neatly maintained collection or so.
My taste is reportedly being quite decent indeed (well, at least that's what say people who are way more versed than I am), yet my choices are in many ways randomly-
I used to rely rather on what the other minded people recomend and draw from here and there, than aspire to rummage and create my "favorites list" independently.
It happens to me to run across some gold nugget sometimes and this is exactly the case, as I do believe. This is some mindblowing shit, what still wouldn't be working so staggering apart of this video.
I'm completely done with it. I'm stunned. I'm enticed. Amazed. Enamoured. Bursting at the seams. Drooling away. Melting away.
In love??????? Hot???
And all of that somehow annoying "rhetorical", so to say, and obviously unrequited, because to whom speciffically should I dedicate my affection?
To Nick Cave? Should I buy, oh pardon, have confused times, print a poster, hang over my bed and keep on masturbate? >:D
Hey, come on, I'm a big girl... To Nick Cave in this particular situation, two-dimensional phantasm on the screen, that sounds and ACTS like an ANSWER to my most intimate dreams?
Well, this option sounds way... ok, a little bit better and more reasonable. More... correctly, closer to how, as I figure, some adult/mature relation between a human being and a WORK OF ART should be looking like/feeling like.
As my friend has introduced me to this song, I liked it, thank to it's sort of gothic, dark/gloomy, nostalgical/atmospherical tone combaining with a morbid point. I caught a glimpse of some resemblance to "My Love For Evermore" by The Hillbilly Moon Explosion with Sparky, what is one of my tops of the top. But that was all about it.
Then I have watched it a little bit meticulously, with no one by my side, and then something clicked. And so it left.
I was like, wtf, could it be, that menopause is knocking to my door (I'm not ready, not wanted to get old as I never have been young for real, did even do these Mother's Little Helpers, Little Yellow Pills that are meant for housewifes, instead, what a lame ;)) and to top the head off/make matters worse, IT is coming up here playing some childish tricks. Like makes me feel as if I were in a mood to TURN TRICK.
LOL (there're going to possibly be a whole lotta stupid LOL's and emoticons/smilies in this post since I'm feeling like I'm young again)
I have seriously assigned it to I just entered menopause and my body wants me to give it it's "share" before it is getting late.
Or maybe I did taper my methadone dose somehow randomly/unintentionally or someone has cut my shit?
Since I'm on methadone, I'm practically a nun, this shit has deprived-robbed me of my sexual drive,
so what I'm doing here GAZING on this two/couple, following their every move, every touch and every gesture, and finding them so perfectly synchronized and genuine...
What is this long time back forgotten feeling of warmth, excitement, and... tenderness...
The Dictionary defines one of my favourites English phrases ACHINGLY BEAUTIFUL as "refering to the things that create feeling of wanting something very much but not being able to have it".
So, I'd say they're both achingly beautiful, as the song is.
The point is there's seemingly nothing particular happening in this video, still the touches (or BLOWS actually) that never seem to be able to get completed and reach their "destination",
the gestures, that kinda intentionally "miss" each other,
the very "questionable" final kiss, that is not much more than just a promise of something more is gonna happen soon between them, and that could be hardly even call a "kiss"...
(well, I have read the posters debating if they kiss each other or not, seriously), it all makes this video so fucking hot, so mesmerizing... Some of the commenters said that the "sexual tension" is so strong, tangible and obvious that it almost makes him feel a little bit awkward to watch people in such an intimate relation.
I don't mind anything to be vouyeristic, though.
Plus, to make matter worse (or hottier), they are looking exactly like two decadent aristocrat siblings, maybe twins, engaged in incestous love. You may ban me for violation aethical rules or blame me, but I have always been (and still kinda am) getting hots as for incestous love between siblings.
The other day I was completely crazy for Caligula and his sister Drusilla and wanted to call my possibly daughter Drusilla if I only will have any. Thankfully, it didn't work, unless she may cast a spell on me.
I almost could figure how they leave the record studio in an extremely rush and, completely frenzied, tear apart their luxury jackets and shirt for $$$$ on each other in the lift of some exclusive appartment building (it might be as well some shabby skid row hotel, if you ask me).
And then... sigh................deep deep sigh............. I'd rather let the curtain down and may some things left unsaid/pass over.
Everyone has it's own Tale so let your imagination running wild...
WTF is happen to me? I'm not high. I'm in love... KINDA. Don't care about spelling... give a fuck if you're going to tease me or mock me out... It feels as if I came back to my 15s...
Did I get nuts or so?
Have commented on this site more than frequently, you can find me there if you want. I'm the same nikita70 on YouTube.
