Yes but since Chipper is the only technical admin, it may not seem like it.
nick and candy both see it that way to - it's by the people for the people BUT until i can offload the admin work, i have to provide more input and make many technical decisions myself.
if anybody interested in sharing the role and who is a Linux person then by all means, speak up and we will ultimately take a vote (see http://forum.drugs-and-users.org/index.php/topic,747.msg1269.html)

Been meaning to outline our thinking in starting this new site. We were/are intending to create a site that is open, transparent and democratic that would become a genuine community for users.
As soon as the site is stable we intend to hand it over to the membership to run.
So,this isn't our site it is YOUR site.

well, that's nick's story anyway, y'know, when the DEA come looking for the dudes that are responsible for hooking up all the e-junkies from both hemispheres ::) ::). "Nope, wasn't me" ... and it's not us either ::) ::) - it's too much for one person to administer a site that is growing at this rate, anyway.

but damned, they did a good job on the 'ludes, though. in fairness.

I imagine the extinguishment of 'ludes put a dent in the auto body shop biz. I knew at least 5 people back then who smashed up their cars on 'ludes and had to have their rides towed to a repair shop.
Me, I've always vacillated between stims and narcotics. I was into Dexedrine back then. Made band practice go much smoother. The guys next door were the Lemmon freaks. We, we gobbled white cross and Black Beauties like candy and practiced Black Sabbath covers. Then a million years of opiates. Pawned the bass and amp and the rest, I dunno...

Really? Hooking up all the e-junkies? What the fuck are you even talking about? This isn't silk road 2.0 dude. I don't think the DEA are too concerned about a bunch of dopefiends shooting the shit online and giving HR advice. If they are they have way too much free time.

i think it was meant in jest/sarcasm, like that's how the cops/uptights view this place. i'm sure they disregard all of the harm reduction/recovery threads & get themselves worked up at any talk of usage, right? i for one, wouldn't take the job of creating/running this site for exactly that reason. major kudos to admins.
my thoughts on the topic: so far, every complaint suggestion or idea that i've seen has been addressed eagerly with input from members heard & listened to. i'd say it's been functioning better than the average democracy even though it could be seen as something of a benevolent dictatorship (only because noone else wants the responsibility / gripes, at least i don't).

Yeah it came off as sarcasm to me too.......but......who the fuck is "andrew", other then a "guest"? That's the first time I saw a "guest" post and didn't know that was "a thing" here. I thought everyone had to register, confirm an email addy, that kinda thing, to keep spam out, amongst other things.
I don't exactly know why, but I don't like the idea of "guests" being able to post.
I mean yeah, anyone could sign up, with any type of just made up, throw away email addy, but I'm weirded out I guess by the "guests" posting. Maybe it's always been a thing and I've never noticed, but I don't recall any "guests" post.
Not that my opinion means shit, but anyone else feel this way???
Great topic for this "guest" to post in. If we are in fact a democracy (which I'm not disputing), then if the majority of users felt the same as I do, would the rules be changed so "guests" couldn't post?

Sometimes admins post under a second name so they can put up a point of view without it being "official." On other forums I've been nvolved with, when a member is peranatly banned their old posts remain but their username gets swapped out for "guest." I imagine that is to avoid confusion that a banned member might still be posting. Or, maybe just to de-escalate the situation.

It's a user who has been removed since posting and then re-added.
I actually wrote that a long time ago and it's a user set up for Permissions testing ... and it wasn't a serious comment.

At first I just saw posts from dates in August, now I look back and see up untill the last couple before mine, that they were from August of last year. I thought this was a new thread. Sorry bro, carry on and don't mind me.
So to clarifiy, cuz I'm a little slow, one must register to post comments, yes? Or no?

Yes you have to register to post. Andrew was an account chipper used when creating the forum. Since he deleted the account, but not the posts, the system shows guest. There are no guest accounts.
