Phil Lynott 30 years Later
« on: January 03, 2016, 07:57:02 PM »
Hard to believe that Monday marks the 30th anniversary of Phil Lynott's death.
And nearly another decade since Thin Lizzy blasted into our ears with
"The Boys Are Back In Town"

In tribute, The Irish Times pulls "Don't Believe a Word--the Life and Death of Phil Lynott" from the archives:

"In this piece, originally published in Magill magazine in January 1986 in the wake of Phil Lynott’s death, Fintan O’Toole recalls the Thin Lizzy frontman’s upbringing in Crumlin, the band’s rise to fame via the ballrooms of Ireland and the bright lights of London, and the final days of the rocker"

Now I’ve been messing with the heavy stuff
And for a lime I couldn’t get enough
But I’m waking up and it’s wearing off.
Junk don’t take you far.
Tell my mama I’m coming home
And in my youth I’m getting older
And I think it’s lost control.
Mama, I’m coming home
Got to give it up
Give it up
Got to give it up, that stuff
Got to give it up.
– Got To Give It Up

RIP Phil Lynott

I loved thin lizzy.
Because Phil looked
So much like my dad

It's a tragedy
You ever heard
Whisky in a jar
Lotta peps only know
The boys are back.
Great song , but v
What happened
I think he knew
He was going to
Self destruct
RIP Philly.
