BEN MCCLELLAN AND AAP THE DAILY TELEGRAPH FEBRUARY 09, 2015 7:19PM SHARE

Police are investigating if Tolga Toksoz, 19, had been involved in a dangerous Russian roulette style game of seeing who could take the most MDMA pills with his friends when he collapsed at the A State of Trance party at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday night.

He was rushed to Concord Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

One of his brothers Mehmet was also taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Meanwhile an Arncliffe man, 20, is fighting for life in hospital after also overdosing on MDMA at Sydney Olympic Park. His family was unaware he was even at the dance party.

Andy Toksoz said he too was not unaware his boys were going to the festival.

“Apparently he just collapsed. It’s just a bit tough, it’s very bad but what can you do? The raves, I don’t know why they have it. He’s never been to anything like that.” he said.

“Why have these parties? It’s grab your bottle of water and have plenty of drugs everyone knows that.

“He’s (Mehmet) not copping well, he was the first one at the hospital. The paramedics did everything they could.”

Mr Toksoz had been working as an apprentice technician laying optic cable for Foxtel and had just received his security licence.

Relatives and friends gathered at the family’s Kellyville home to lend their support.

Assistant Police Commissioner Frank Mennilli said police had heard from people at the dance party that some revellers had turned their drug taking into a competition and said the game was idiotic.

“He (Tolga) was in a competition on the amount of tablets he could actually ingest. These were taken as a game,” he said.

“These people are gambling with their lives. It’s absolute stupidity. Really there is no word for it.”

Mr Menilli said Mr Toksoz took an “an excessive number of pills” and drug dealers were “preying” on impressionable teenagers at the festival attended by 16,000 people.

REVEALED: CRISIS OF DRUGGED-UP STUDENTS IN SCHOOL

Two others were also taken to hospital after taking illicit drugs at the festival.

A 22-year-old man swallowed a large number of pills in a plastic bag after hiding them in his mouth when he saw drug detection police. He told officers about the drugs after accidentally swallowing the bag.

The Arncliffe man who overdosed remains on life support in Westmead Hospital but his condition had improved.

More than 40 people were arrested at the festival, including one man who allegedly had 130 pills on him and another who was allegedly carrying 98.

Three people were charged for drug supply charges while 40 further charges were laid for drug possession and other offences.

In total 180 people were searched by the drug dogs and 23 were treated by medical staff.

The dance party ran from 10pm on Saturday until 5am on Sunday and attracted a line-up of international DJs.

Among those to play at A State of Trance on Saturday was world-renowned DJ Armin van Buuren.

It comes after north shore woman Georgina Bartter died after taking an ecstasy pill at Harbourlife festival at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair in November.

Assistant Commissioner Mennilli earlier said police made no secret that a high-visibility drug operation would be in force.

“Despite efforts by police and the event organisers to ensure people could attend this music event and enjoy themselves without their lives being put in danger, one man has died and another remains in Westmead Hospital in a critical condition,” he said.

“New South Wales Police will continue to use drug dogs and search people at events if we believe they are carrying illegal drugs. If you carry and supply illegal drugs you will be arrested,” said Assistant Commissioner Mennilli.

Police are getting ready to boost their presence at two upcoming dance festivals, including Future Music and Soundwave.

I once took 7 x 180 mg. (approx.) MDMA capsules, IV, over a few hours and I was fine !

in fact, it just started to behave like methamphet.

... so what are they taking ? (I always think of PMA (para-methoxy-amphetamine).

something is wrong here, very wrong.

the financial cost alone would be prohibitive, you'd think.

I just don't get it.
