Title: Some questions on klonopin
Post by: Diacetylmorphinefiend on December 09, 2015, 05:04:04 PM
For the last 3 months I have been taking benzos regularly. I am prescribed 15mg of kolonopin a month and have been using Xanax with it sometimes as well. My tolerance isn't massive yet but it has risen from 1mg of Xanax to 1.5mg of Xanax to get good sedated feeling I like. Same dosages of kpin apply. So for the last month I have been dosing every 3rd day religiously. . On the days in between doses I don't have any withdrawal symptoms but by the third day I start getting pissy and anxious. Do you guys think I am already physically dependent and just riding the half lives?

I really don't want to get addicted as I am already on 140mg of methadone. I just worry that if I was ever arrested or cut off some other way I will die. Do you have any advice. I have never been addicted to benzos before so I am not that experienced in what to do now if I am addicted.

Just like dope, it sneaks up on you, reaaaaaally slowly. There are parallels, and also differences, but if you notice a consistent jump in anxiety after two days, that could easily be a red flag.

Benzos are weird drugs, and we all respond to them pretty differently. My benzo wd seems to be pretty different than the next guys - like more-so than dope wd even tho dope wd is also very subjective.

It took me a lot longer to get a physical jones for both benzos and alky than I thought it would, but once it's got ahold it's a nightmare to shake.

I think maybe best way to tell is to take a week or two off, but be careful making really sudden changes like that.

I was addicted to kolonopin... took 8 mg a day minimum but that could easily go into the 20s if I wanted some retard time. I swear I said so much stupid shit but boy was it fun... first good run I had with xanax and kolonopin was maybe 2 months with way lower dosages. I was able to quit with just a day or three of bad anxiety (a lot of it was instigated by a weird day copping dope... I was super paranoid) but nothing too bad. It really was not too bad at that level.

The second run was a lot more serious and about 7-8 months. When I quit, I thought I was cool. I did a half assed taper and felt fine. It took literally about a week and a half for WD to kick in. I thought I was sick sick at first... I didn't know what was up. I literally had a headache for about 3 months man. It's a tough ride but, honestly, I think it's easier than opiates. It seems like more of a at the surface, symptom based withdrawal that's more like a traditional sickness than an emotional, in your bones withdrawal like opiates are. That being said, I didn't get crazy insomnia or constantly get bad panic attacks (I did get some and having never really had anxiety problems it's really weird to be stuck in bed because you're anxious) like some people do so that mightve changed things. I can definitely understand not wanting to have a dual addiction but, those days, my morning methadone was the only relief (for a few hours) I got some days. It was bad enough to not be able to work for 3 months which turned into six because shit snowballs... I ultimately ended up back at my parents house because of that run.

I'll take benzos now occasionally but I have no desire to get addicted. It was so fun when I was in it, I was ballsy and did wtf I wanted, but when I look back, most of those things were so stupid and embarrassing. Like every fender bender or wreck I've been in can be accredited to benzos. I remember one time, I had a rental that got a flat. I pulled over and got the jack and donut out. I didn't put the jack in the right place and I'm watching the body panel of the car twist out of shape but I proceed to keep jacking it up lol. I put the wheel on and I guess it didn't align correctly so I could only get like 2 lug nuts on. Good enough! As I drive off, the tire flies off lol. I just said fuck it and walked home... good times good times....

I have been getting really bad anxiety on the third day after. I keep telling myself that I am going to take a week off but that hasn't happened yet. Point taken about it sneaking up though.

How are you passing you UAs at MMT - do you have a script for benzos?  My clinic tests me every time I pick up my take-homes.  Be careful - I'm sure you're aware of the danger of mixing benzos and methadone.

I was prescribed klonopin for many years.  I had my binge moments, but mostly took amounts like you are describing.  I didn't really have any problems when I quit taking them, but I was also on a bunch of other meds at the time which I'm sure helped.  A little alcohol helps take benzo cravings away, but then you are back to mixing dangerous substances.  Really, at your dose, I think you'll be ok - I don't think you have to worry about withdrawal complications if you are only taking 2mg every 3rd day

Yeah I have a script for the kpin. Thanks for the warning but I seem to have a strong resilience to opiate benzo combos. I tried to kill myself with Xanax and heroin a few times with no luck thankfully. I don't think I am addicted yet but I am getting nasty rebound anxiety from almost every dose which I am guessing means I am well on my way to hell.

It will be a world easier now than in three months. Remember that.

I think you're straddling the line. Not yet physically dependent but well on your way. As others have said, it will be much easier to quit now than down the road. If you ever get dependent PLEASE taper yourself off. Cold turkey detox from benzos/ GABA agonists can be life threatening. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am going to try and stop for at least a week. Getting addicted would be an absolute catastrophe for a few reasons but mainly because I don't really have a steady supplier and that frightens the hell out of me. One more question though I have a script for gabapentin as well that I take 900mg of everyday. Does that matter at all? The doctor told me it wasn't addictive but I read something on another forum that said the opposite. Anyone know the truth?
