Caffeine
« on: June 20, 2016, 02:20:47 PM »
I suppose stimulants ought to be the right place for this.

Many people may not notice it much, but I'm pretty dependent on caffeine, and the stats and my observances seem to fit that alot of other people are as well. I just happen to be particularly obsessive over each and every dependence, but i think in caffeines case, it may be a silent killer(more psychologically than physical)

I dont tolerate amphetamines or cathinones well, especially in a work scenario, though i used alot of adderall in high school, ive done meth plenty of times, and cocaine and crack are simply party/spiritual experiences for me so i couldnt even consider it practical.

Im concerned the amount of coffee i drink may be burning out some dopamine receptors in my brain, and also contributing to mania. With my on and off boozing its also problematic from the acidity. I understand the adenosine rebound period, but i feel as though any time ive tried to quit or reduce its just too mind numbing and fatigue producing to ever get over it.

Anyway, this is a unique chemical, and most people discuss harder stimulants, however, as far as tapering, replacing, discussing symptoms of use, or withdrawal, may be could be useful as a thread.

don't underestimate the addictive power of caffeine.

the whole cup of coffee is a ritual and goes back a long way.

i drink iced coffee daily, preferring it over warm drinks.

Starbucks is the biggest drug dealer in America.

My buddy worked at a Starbucks and said everybody in the morning is in caffeine withdrawal and super irritable.

Something like 70-80% of people who consume caffeine become daily users.

The worst stimulant habit I ever had outside of crack, was taking caffeine based pre-workouts. I fucking loved that shit before I hurt my back.

I would take a pre-workout with 419mgs of caffeine and other stims in a scoop. Towards the end I wasn't even mixing it up in water, just scooping it into my mouth multiple times a day. That would keep me strung out and euphoric all day.

Coming off that habit was hard.

I used to drink a lot of coffee
Until my gallbladder
Got infected
Now I only occasionally drink coffee

My main source of caffeine
Is from soda
Mainly Mt. Dew

I just recently began
To cut back on the amount
I consume

I used to drink
Mt. Dew 24/7

When I didn't
I would get fatigued
As well as get headaches

The first thing
I did to lower my consumption
Was to stop drinking
It during the night
Replacing it w/bottled water
This helped quite a bit

Then
One day I decided
I would go the entire day
Without a single Mt.Dew
Which was hard
B/c to me
Mt. Dew goes soooo good w/ a cig
I was very surprised
B/c I made it
The entire 24+hrs
And didn't get a headache
That was the first time
In about 15yrs
I went that long without

Now
I've cut back
To about 1-3 cans of Mt. Dew per day
I haven't noticed any major
Side affects of cutting down like this

Yesterday was
My second
24+hr period
Without Mt.Dew

Caffeine truly is an odd drug
And I find it strange
Just how many people
Are dependent on it
And don't even realize it

Me an caffeine go waaaay back.

Back in high school, I'd drink a large cup of black coffee in the morning, and in 10th grade went through a "Vivarin phase" along with most of the students at that school. Vivarin is a tablet that has 200mg per in it. I'd pop two of those and be jacked up just like if I had done some methamphetamine or something. Man, the first time I took that shit, it was almost a spiritual experience.

When I was in prison/jail, coffee was too expensive, so I acquired a nasty hot tea habit, going through about 10 tea bags per day. A box of 100 teabags was like $3.00. I ALWAYS had a cup of tea with me while I was in the joint. The times that I didn't I was miserable with headaches.

I love mountain dew, possibly because it has the highest caffeine content of any other soda. But i couldnt make a switch like that because consuming soda and beer at the same time gives me a horrible stomach ache. Not sure why, sure theyre both carbonated, but i can drink an unlimited amount of beer alone and feel fine.

I drink a pint of black coffee every 2 hours. I know its a pint because i use a pint glass lol. And i make it so dark, it tastes like tar. Well not exactly like tar, but i mean that bitter. I bought a 30oz tin of folgers on saturday, its halfway gone. So thats 15 oz of grounds in 4 days

Ive had the headache problem, i believe it sets in at 12hrs if its going to. That has something to do with a benign blood pressure shift in the head.

My thing is fatigue if i try to reduce. And concentration goes out the window. But the irony is i think my use has reached a point where i kind of get 'spun' from it in a way, and i actually only really get my concentration back for 15 minutes or so, and then im just as ADD as before, but awake
